Forza Woes

I'm new to simulations and I don't understand all this tuning stuff. In general, I don't touch it but if I feel I need to I kind of play with all the sliders and dials at random and hope I get something that works.

Anyway, I've got a '67 Stingray (with a beautiful vinyl job I'll show you guys on Tuesday). It's fully upgraded with the optional engine, ranked S1. The thing FLIES. When I'm racing it, I can just floor it on a straightaway and leave everyone else in the dust. Problem is it handles like it were on ice. Even with STM on, it drifts all over the place and alternates between understeering and oversteering constantly. In short, it drives like a boat, and sometimes it'll just randomly lose control on straightaways (I don't THINK it's bottoming out...). Watching the heat monitors, I see that it's more or less melting its tires every time I ask it to do anything other than maintain speed on a straightaway.

I love the car but it's sort of useless to me if I have to fight it on every turn of every track. Is it just too much car for me to handle at my skill level?

Caveat: I'm at work, so this is all off the top of my head.

You need to modify your toe angle to fix your straight-line stability. Buy a customizable suspension (it won't bump your car into another class) and read the descriptions in the toe angle and camber angle modifcation sections in the garage. I believe making your toe angle more positive will increase stability on straightaways at the expense of cornering stability.

Remember, too, that this is a heavy rear-wheel drive American car. It ain't never gonna drive like my Integra.

Actually yeah. The high horsepower car handling is a bit more complicated than the lower level vehicles. The most trouble I've had in the game is with the Amateur Corvette series, because you have to race an 800 horsepower 840-something ft/lb's of torque Lingenfelter 428 Vette. Your only real competition for that is to buy one of the other vettes (most went with the Z06, as it seems to offer the most potential) and max it out to S1 in an attempt at competing with that Lingenfelter. So what essentially happens is that fairly early on in the game you go from not needing any big cars like that to being forced to use one with outrageous amounts of horsepower.

Since then the silly horsepower vehicles haven't been nearly as hard. In fact, I'm still proud of the time I set on Laguna Seca in that series, and will likely never have a run that good in that particular event again.

Does this game do F-1 or just street cars?

There's GTS and other touring classes, but no F-1 Swamp.

Get this game Swampy. I was doubtful at first but then I saw the light. This thing is CRACK.

I'm gonna be picking this up Monday along with MLB2k5

Thanks for the feedback guys, and a shout out to Thin J for helping me get my Corvette Z06.

Now to make it yours you just have to put some crazy looking decal job on it

I'm going to give it a job similar to my Stingray, but with a white paintjob and gradients of blue on the decals.

I'm planning on trading in Gran Turismo 4 and a few other games and picking this up tonight. I guess I'll see you guys online. Oh ... and lest I forget: I really hate you guys.

No no no NO!

OH GOD WHY!?

Bastard! Here I am a long time Gran Turismo fan getting ready to defend a very difficult decision and you're just kidding? Funk you!

I for one welcome our new GT4-trained overlords.

Oh you don't know him... You think you're cool now having the best times and all, but he'll crush all of us in no time. I request some of Psycho's urine NOW!

Green I don't know how many more times you expect me to remind you. I only offer urine donations twice a month per person and, before you ask, no I don't want to know what you do with it.

Once I had you banned permanently from this site I'd sell it off Ebay. duh.
