Season 2 of Interview With The Vampire was great. I can't think of anything I didn't like. The big plot points from the books and movie are there along with enough new stuff to keep the show interesting. All the changes made to the story worked great for the tv show.
I give Interview With The Vampire 10 dead stage acting vampires out of 10. They had it coming. They know what they did.
Watched Arcadian, which is billed as a Nic Cage creature feature, but Cage is really more of a supporting actor. It's uneven, but definitely redeemed by the creatures themselves. They're by far the standout, and probably the neatest creature design I've seen in a while. It does the thing where it goes super light on exposition, which I normally like, but this is an instance where they probably went too far, and left too many blanks. Definitely worth a watch for the creatures alone.
I watched The Devil's Bath which isn't scary but might be disturbing. If you have problems with animals and small humans being killed the movie might be to much.
This movie is slow and long but I liked it. The time period is captured well. The movie is based on true events. I would say the core of the movie is about a woman trying to get out of a bad situation in the worst way possible.
I give this movie 8 Queen of Hearts out of 10. Is painting the roses red the same as suicide by cop?
The Quiet Place Day One was okay. The movie was mostly what I expected accept for the magical spirit animal. I liked all the movies in the series but only think the first one is a must watch. This movie and 2 don't really add anything but they were entertaining.
I give the movie 7 cat lives out of 9. Seven of Nine would love this movie.
On a whim I also watched The Coffee Table. The trailer made it look like it was going to be some full on Evil Dead shenanigans orchestrated by a demonically possessed table. It sounded ridiculous and, as much as anything, I wanted to see if it would work. What it actually is is an intense drama looking at the aftermath following an unimaginably awful accident involving a certain item of furniture… It was dragged out too long in the end but it had it’s moments and I will say the start, which takes place in a furniture store with a delightful sleazy/honest/sleazy salesman, is worth seeing in it’s own right.
Edit: You probably won’t enjoy the start of The Coffee Table. The dialogue just tickled me.
I'm glad someone else watched this. That movie is something else.
Watched T.I.M. and liked it. Standard AI robot goes bad but I liked it
The actor playing the robot was really good. The bathroom had glass walls which I thought was weird. People can see you take a poop. Very basic story but it worked for me.
I give the movie 8 password characters out of 10.
Anyone know of a safe space where people can discuss Alien: Romulus? With spoilers preferably but not a biggy if not.
I'd recommend just creating a new thread for it, with "(spoilers)" in the title.
Watched Eight Eyes and liked it. A couple takes a trip to a foreign country. They make friends with a dude and go off with him after knowing him for a hour. That was stupid and they pay for it.
The movie is a 70s Italian throwback. Very low budget movie.
I give the movie 7 eyeballs out of 10. The couple didn't seem right to be together. The beginning is kind of slow. The ending was pretty good but trippy. I don't think many people will like this movie.
Started Terror Tuesday: Extreme on netflix. Thai show. Episodic and appear to be self-contained stories without a broader connection. English dubs but they are pretty weak. Only 2 episodes in but I think I'll keep watching.
Watched In The Mouth of Madness the other night. I probably hadn't seen it in 20+ years. Basically there's an investigator sent out to find a missing author of popular horror novels that are driving people crazy. He finds himself in a town created in the books the guy wrote (e.g. Alan Wakeish) with all the creatures and other horror plotlines the author wrote. It's got some Lovecraft elements such as the "old gods" breaking into our world. But the whole thing is a bit all over the place and probably would have made a better TV mini-series.
I recall really liking the movie as a teen, and it's watchable now, but mainly for the curiosity of seeing where it goes next. I could wait another 20+ years to see it again.
Sam Neil, the investigator, seemed to be enjoying the role. Going from skeptic to madness. Charlton Heston seems to be in a random role of the authors editor. And I found out from imdb Hayden Christensen makes his movie debut as the kid on the bike.
For John Carpenter movies this goes somewhat near the bottom. Maybe better than Escape from LA.
Watched Longlegs which is billed as a horror movie but is more of crime thriller with a twist. A serial killer is killing people in way the FBI can't figure out. The FBI gets a break in the case by using a maybe psychic agent. The serial killer is very weird.
The film has great camera work. The acting was great. The story was very good. The weakest point is that the movie has a info dump. Maybe they should have built things up more.
I give this 8 I had no idea nick cage was in this movie even after watching it twice out of 10. Nick Cage looked great but I don't think white actors should be playing black people but he was great as the FBI agent. Nick Cage greatest of all time. Stop with the blackface though.
I went into this blind. I thought the movie was going to be about spiders. Daddy long legs.
I have no idea how Darkness Reigns has an 87% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. It's just not very good. The 3.9 on IMDB is much more appropriate.
Watched Visher a movie about a phone scammer that falls in love with one of the people he is scamming. The one is put in danger and the scammer wants to hep her.
This is a very low budget movie. There are only two people in the movie. I have seen youtube videos that have higher production value. This low budget feel works for this movie.
The actor was fine. The story kept me entertained. The movie is very short just over a hour or so. I liked the ending. I give the movie 8 phone scams before hitting my quota out off 10.
I watched Men and hoooweee the last 10 minutes was bonkers. The movie is really pushing the allegorical over plot but I can honestly say that the conclusion will stick with you for some time. Also recently watched The Monster Project which is a found footage movie and it also has a big payoff at the end. I liked it better than most of that genres offerings so would recommend it.
I watched Evil Dead Rise on the strength of the Fede Alvarez reboot from 2013. Mistake. 1.5 stars.
Substance trailer been going hard in my YouTube ads rotation lately.
Nick Cage looked great but I don't think white actors should be playing black people but he was great as the FBI agent. Nick Cage greatest of all time. Stop with the blackface though.
I'm so confused by this. But then again I really, really disliked Longlegs.
LOL I confuse myself at times.
Watched Late Night with The Devil and liked it. In the 1970s a talk show host makes a last ditch effort to raise his ratings. A number of guest come on and it is up to us to decide if the guest are faking their powers or is it real.
The show captured the 1970s talk show feel perfectly. They also seem to copy the special effects of that time period. That might not work for people but I loved it. I didn't see the ending coming. I thought something else was going to happen. I don't really think there was real setup to the ending but I still loved it. This is a movie where different people are going to have different interpretations of what happen and nobody is wrong.
I give this move 8 jumps in the ratings out of 10. Oh the main guy is very good. I didn't realize he was the dot guy in suicide squad.
Not sure if it constitutes horror but watched The Quiet Place: Day One. Really enjoyed it. It was more alien invasion than anything but had some horror tropes. Really liked the main character, who is dying of cancer, and just wants to spend her last days trying to get back to where she grew up, where she felt alive. Thought the ending was pretty perfect.
Also loved the guy she comes across later and the relationship they develop. That actor was so good with his facial expressions and really helped consummate the bond these two had in such a short time. Great chemistry. Had to look the guy up since I didn't recognize him and was surprised to find it was Eddie Munson from Stranger Things. That guy has some acting chops. Two totally different characters.
I'm very late to the game on this one considering it released in 2018... but I just found it....
The Terror on Netflix is good stuff. Not horror in the general sense of the term but it's there. Cast is outstanding

Am I crazy or does he look a lot like a young Downey Jr.?

Not sure if you watched it all or just the 1st season. If only the 1st season, I'd say skip the 2nd season.

Have to disagree. Thought the second season was better than the first but I liked them both.
Wrapping up the 1st season. Will give the 2nd season a go.
Thought it was interesting that
The cause of death of the actual sailors, via an autopsy of a toe nail, suggests it was zinc deficiency that most likely doomed the expedition.
