NHL 2023-2024

My teams out, again.
I wonder what the Arizona Coyotes will morph into? The Kachina(sic?) design is awesome, but I see Salt Lake CIty wanting their own identity. The Buzz? The Thunderbolts? The Sidewinders? The Spiders?

The Salt Lake Swarm
The Utah Stingers

Utah HeyGirls, playing their home games at DoTerra Arena.

Jack Edwards is retiring at the end of this season, after 19 years of Bruins games. He was a homer but will definitely be missed. If for nothing else, “Snowball 1, Hell 0”.

I love what we're doing Rangers, but don't win the President's Trophy. Please. It's a poisoned chalice. In the last 20 years, 3 teams that won it even made the Cup Finals.

Seriously, play the AHL team for 4 or 5 games.

Ah shit.

The video from the game last night really was heartbreaking.

Coyotes fans got screwed over in multiple ways. The franchise started out looking like it would be very successful too.

Ice Cats boutta slay that dragon, huh?

Gah stealing the shutout with .1 second remaining, dammit.

Thanks to the Kings getting bounced by Edmonton once again, I now understand what Packers fans feel when it comes to the 49ers.

Canucks move on to the 2nd round. Guess we'll never get to see how the Kings and Canucks would stack up to each other when it mattered. Oh well.

Leafs gonna Leaf I guess.

A lot of folks were saying online that the most Leafy thing to do was to push it to game 7 and then lose. So Leafy. I would have rather them have gotten the gentleman's sweep cause it would have forced some questions about the organization. Bummer all around.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I don’t want to talk about it.

Yeah baby!!

All this time, in my pessimism, I haven't been convinced this Rangers team was cup-worthy.

I am now convinced.

There's a real monkey's paw situation going on with the Canucks. Before the season start Jim Rutherford said that if everything went right they would make the playoffs. Well, not only did everything go right but they won the division. However, as soon as the playoffs started the wheels came off.

-a few hours before R1G2 started, team announces Thatcher Demko is injured and will be probably be out for the rest of the playoffs
-a few hours before R1G4 started, team announces Casey DeSmith is injured and third string rookie Arturs Silovs will start
-Elias Pettersson has forgotten how to play hockey since the All-Star break
-just revealed tonight that Brock Boeser, 40-goal scorer and team lead in playoff points and goals, is out for game 7 with a blood clotting issue

Frankly, it's amazing they are even in a R2G7 tomorrow.

Cannot believe the Rangers won that. The Panthers literally took nearly 100 shot attempts and outshot the Rangers (again, in attempts, not shots on net) by 60+.

Their forecheck is utterly suffocating, it felt like the Rangers were on the penalty kill when it was even strength.

That said tho

2-1.

That's the Rangers done, I fear. They've been getting outplayed, decisively, all series long.

I don't have faith they can win Game 6 on the road.

But all that really matters is Dallas stepping up in the West, because

Y'know what? You're right, sports are more fun when you're being delusional.

Rangers in 7.

That's been one hell of a series, no?

For some reason, there was a Kitchener Rangers bus parked at the hotel next to my office last night.

I work just off NJ Route 3, a few miles west of the Meadowlands.

Teams are going to build up a huge number of Frequent Flyer miles between Edmonton and Miami.

Is this the longest distance between two finalist cities? It's slightly longer than Vancouver-Boston (2011 Cup Final).

Woof.

Edmonton may have gotten Florida's only bad game of the series, because the second period is almost over in Game 2, and it's 21-7 on shots in Florida's favor.

If Edmonton couldn't win Game 1, when they actually outshot and arguably outplayed Florida, I don't like their chances going forward. Florida is just grinding everyone to paste.

Edmonton had better do something great up in Canada, because I'm ready to hand Florida the cup now.

Looks like that whole Stanley Cup can’t be won by a Canadian team thing going to go on to…what…30 season? 31?

92-93 Montreal. So ya.

Considering there's a bunch of teams and it's hockey makes it even more ouch.

The name will be Utah Hockey Club.
