NFL 2024: The preseason pre-draft thread

SAUCE GARDNER CLARIFIES JEWISH PEOPLE COMMENT
...I Was Uneducated!!!

There's a TMZ headline that Woody Johnson cannot possibly want to see.

So the Jets have two of them now. (that we know of, obvs)

Weird that the Cowboys aren't included. Are we to believe that America's Team can't be exported?

Maybe look at who was assigned to Mexico a little more closely.

I don't see the Commoders either. The world hates the Mid-Atlantic I guess.

Which part did he not want to see? That Sauce made a comment or that he walked it back?

Even if we clarified/walked it back, these days I don't think you really want to have one of your best players in a headline with the words "Jewish people comment."

WHOOPS. Good eye. Better than mine, obviously.

I always look for the star so I know where to hate.

Woody Johnson allegedly had a heated something with Robert Saleh:

There’s an unwritten rule when it comes to working for NFL Media: Don’t stir up trouble for the 32 teams that own the operation.

That rule was ignored during a recent episode of the NFL’s Around the NFL podcast. NFL Media host Colleen Wolfe said that Jets coach Robert Saleh and owner Woody Johnson were having a “very heated conversation” at the league meetings.

The incident happened, supposedly, on Monday night.

“Maybe they were disagreeing on how they like their steak cooked,” Wolfe said. “Doubt that though.”

She tried to back off at one point, saying it wasn’t an “argument,” just a “discussion.”

Maybe Saleh was wondering out loud how his team was going all QAnon on him.

There's a greater than 0 maybe even 10% chance that the Jets could actually be worse with a full year of Rodgers. I mean him actually playing the whole year also. Or even getting dinged up and refusing to sit and it turning into a circus.

Rashee Rice is a moron.

Per some other stories I've seen and an eyewitness account somebody posted on r/dallas on Reddit, Rice was racing another car, got in an accident with several vehicles, put somebody in the hospital, and left his ID in the car and vanished. The obvious speculation is he was drunk and is lawyering up and waiting until the alcohol is out of his system.

Henry Ruggs was a lesson, idiot.

Alternatively, Dana White has shown through similar instances with Jon Jones, that this can all just...go away.

If he's lucky enough that nobody died, which was obviously not Rugg's case, he might get away with it at some cost. After all, the son of his head coach just had a sentence commuted by the Governor for doing something like this.

oops. wrong thread.

Is that somehow a post about Aaron Rodgers or did you post it to the wrong thread?

Even worse, review of the Biden's playbook shows they regularly call draws on third and long, and still think a strong running game is the key to winning games in the modern NFL.

Wrong thread, Paleo.

Biden is running the Veer, which is better than Trump who runs nothing but redirects and trick plays.

Diggs to the Texans for draft compensation.

Texans going from meh to division favorites with 1 QB pick and making some moves.

Edit: For a second round pick.... Next year?

I guess there's cap implications that the Bills needed to clean up. Because otherwise even if Diggs is trending badly they are getting 0 better now.

Expect a major reversion to the mean for Josh Allen.

Diggs is just following the standard WR Diva Playbook here; got surly in Minnesota, got traded to get rid of him. Same happening in Buffalo. The Bills' WR room is now starting to look like Carolina or New England in terms of its, uh, star power.

Pretty much what a Bills fan friend said to me.

First reaction was WTF.

Then rationalized it that on the WR graph of Diva vs actual play that Diva has been trending and is now greater.

But ya to Paleos point good luck. I think QB play can carry you so far until weapons (lack of) start to really slow the offense down.

Next iteration of Josh Allen hero ball incoming.

Haha! The Bills actually have TEs who are receiving threats. The Panthers have, ah, guys who line up at the tight end position.

This draft is supposed to have a ton of really good WRs, and I suspect the Bills at 28th (unless they trade up) figure they can find a decent pass catcher.

The Texans, though, my goodness. A lot of AFC teams ought to be worried about that offense.

I don't think it's a stretch to say "Josh Allen Hero Ball" is a terrifying thing if you're a Bills fan. Allen takes a lot of hits trying to extend plays, and he's going to die by week five if he doesn't have WRs he can trust and tries to run it all the time.

Feels like the Bills' window has slammed pretty violently shut. I mean, who could have imagined a missed FG in the playoffs could fundamentally change the nature of the Bills' franchise history? First time for everything, I guess.

I think we are going to test my hypothesis that default Josh Allen without a true WR1 is the turnover vendor that he was for all those pre-Diggs seasons.

After voters reject tax measure, Chiefs and Royals look toward future, whether in KC or elsewhere

Looking forward to the St. Louis Chiefs and the Montreal Royals!

Wouldn't it be the Royales?

I think Avec Fromage is a Bills WR.
