[News] Post a D&D Picture

Previous incarnations of Cleveland/P&C/D&D have had an image thread, to handle political cartoons and other image-based stuff that doesn't belong in the general post-a-picture threads.

If any of them spawn an extended discussion, please spawn it off into its own thread. Replies to non-picture replies should take the form of a link pointing to a post on a different discussion thread.

And I shouldn't have to say it, but the images still need to abide by the rules.

And the government will continue to do nothing, actually they will continue to make it even harder for people to buy houses by keeping interest rates high.

A tale of two Americas: More US home buyers willing to purchase despite high rates

NEW YORK, Dec 4 (Reuters) - U.S. home buyers are becoming more willing to purchase properties even as interest rates stay high, according to a study by Bank of America (BAC.N) published on Monday.

About 62% of respondents said they would wait for borrowing costs to fall before buying a house, according to 1,000 people polled in September. That is down from 85% six months earlier.

"We are beginning to see that lack of patience play out in the survey, which ultimately should lead to activity going forward," Matt Vernon, head of consumer lending at Bank of America, told Reuters.

Edit: apologies, I didn’t realize this was the picture thread. Keeping it here because the point was the juxtaposition.

Doesn't matter, the Justice Dept. probably already has all that footage and has had for a long time. It's theater, like much of his life.

How is that not obstruction of justice?

I haven't seen the full video where he says this, but is there a chance he means that they're in the process of blurring faces before they release the videos to the public, not the DOJ? I mean, I assume the DOJ already has every second of footage taken from the riot?

'cause if he's not and he actually means "we're blurring their faces to stop prosecutions" then WOW that's some effed up shit right there :O

Not effed up shit...
Obstruction.
And he says its to protect rioters from DoJ. So it would imply that they are doctoring evidence.
I want to believe the DoJ has not given the only copy of the footage to the GOP.

"We have to blur some of the faces of persons who participated in the events of that day because we don't want them to be retaliated against and to be charged by the DOJ [Department of Justice] and to have other, you know, concerns and problems," Johnson, who joined some other Republicans in seeking to overturn Trump's 2020 election defeat, said at a press conference.

however, to be fair a bit later someone else clarified

In a statement issued on social media soon after, however, spokesman Raj Shah wrote: "Faces are to be blurred from public viewing room footage to prevent all forms of retaliation against private citizens from any non-governmental actors. The Department of Justice already has access to raw footage from January 6, 2021."

Protecting folks from vigilantes is something they should be doing.

Spinning that to make it sound like they're trying to shield their vigilantes from legal consequences is very much not. Especially when one of their own tactics is to point out specific targets for said vigilantes to threaten and harass.

Perpetually shouting down traitors is the exact free speech that they love to whine and wrap themselves in the flag about.

Kevin McCarthy resigned from the US House of Representatives.

Pretty sure he said he will resign on the 31st...

The 31st of February.

Sounds to me like he's trying to prevent the situation where people recognized someone from the publicly released footage and made their identity known to the public (and the DOJ). More than one idiot has ended up fired after being publicly identified as an insurrectionist. The DOJ already has the unedited footage, but people telling them if they recognized someone saved them a bit of work in identifying each suspect and gave them a better starting point for building a case against them.

Taking a well-earned page from the GOP's own playbook, how about this nugget of wisdom: if you don't want to lose your job or get imprisoned for being part of an insurrection, don't go to a f*cking insurrection.

I believe that's what they call a feature, not a bug.

True but it is odd to see one of the programmers admit it.

Do they though? Looks more like a Klan rally in a trailer park to me.

They look like a bunch of country club members who are always falling all over themselves trying to curry favor with the club's owner.

Also, the club's name is Mar-a-Lago.
