NFL 2023: The Week 3 Thread

Need to drag Young, Rice, Troy, Emmitt, and Michael out for that one.

In The Guardian today:

The Browns sold their souls to sign Deshaun Watson. The results are not pretty

But the player of today looks something closer to Davis Mills, the also-ran who ultimately replaced him in Houston, than the Watson of old. Watson’s game had always revolved around two strengths: his deep-ball accuracy and his ability to create when pressured. In his time in Cleveland, both have cratered. He’s less accurate, less aggressive, less decisive, and looks slower with the ball in his hands.

I’d say accurate. All I’ve seen this season is a bottom five qb with a top five rb

Oh the Browns cycle: terrible to why-aren't-they-better.

And that top-5 running back has one leg now.

The Bears have changed their minds and re-signed The Peter Man. Not sure what the point of releasing him in the first place was.

I love this Reddit comment:

Internally, they said “cut bait” on Williams. Someone thought they said “cut Nate”.

Looks like Tiny Bryce Young hurt one of his twiggy ankles Monday night and seems unlikely to play Sunday. Time to bring out the Red Rifle.

Panther Fan will come completely unhinged if Dalton throws for 250 yards and 3 TDs and gets a road win in Seattle. Panther Fan is barely hinged now because they're going through the painful process of recalibrating what in hindsight were too-high expectations.

Speaking of Carolina going 0-6 heading into their Week 7 bye ...

... we're looking at a possibility of the Cardinals and the Bears having the top four picks in the 2024 draft, with the Cards drafting 1-2 and the Bears going 3-4.

That would require the Cards to complete their tank, the Texans to finish with the second-worst record (the Cards have their first-round pick) and the Bears and Panthers to finish with the third and fourth (or fourth and third, doesn't matter) worst records because the Bears have Carolina's first-round pick.

IT COULD HAPPEN!

Hey, Bart has Nick Chubb's leg!

I kind of want Arizona to get picks one and four, Chicago two and three, let's go all snake draft on them top four picks.

Big loss for the Cowboys: cornerback Trevon Diggs suffered a torn ACL in practice and will miss the rest of the season.

Ouch

Brandon Aiyuk visibly played through shoulder pain in the Rams game, and the Niners have decided to sit him out of tonight's game rather than playing him on the short week. He was able to participate in practice this week in a limited fashion, but it sounds like they decided it's better to rest it.

Mike Tanier knows, when it comes to Jake Moody scoring, always take the OVER.

I'm just gonna throw out the usual caveat that this is Thursday. Carry on.

Purdy still perfect on sneaks

And Moody on his way to 3 more FGs

Pushing for a 39-9 scorigami

With 13 FGs from Jake Moody?

Can someone let the admins know Legion has hacked Paleo's account?

That’s 3 more points than I expected the Giants to score tonight.

Deebo and CMC with amazing 3rd and long conversions this drive

I know we got the 3 and out. But that first down play is the most bullshit incomplete pass I've ever seen called.

Their explanation was he was out of the pocket and threw it beyond the line of scrimmage.

-He was at the 20 and threw it out of bounds at the 23/24, not back to the 25 yard line LoS. Maybe, maybe it landed at the 24.5 line out of bounds... maybe... But in no was was it "thrown beyond LoS". So grounding.

-He threw the f*cking ball over his head backwards while falling. Nothing literally screams "intentional grounding" more than that. But all this "forward motion" stuff signals incomplete. What the hell is a backwards over your head pass then?

-If not grounding maybe that should be a fumble, out of bounds at the 23, 2nd and 12.

What a joke.

Watching this on Twitch and seeing the chat scroll by so fast it's like trying to interpret the lines of code from the Matrix.

I was busy making dinner, so I’m late with this, but…

Jake Moody PLINKS an easy 28-yard field goal, too short to even require him to engage any of his true talent.

Gano from 57? Challenge accepted.

Jake Moody BANGS a 21-yard field goal so hard that my comment ended up in the wrong thread.

Kittle!

Nice end of quarter

Jake Moody RINGS UP a 36-yard field goal to reach his 3 FG quota yet again…
