Previous incarnations of Cleveland/P&C/D&D have had an image thread, to handle political cartoons and other image-based stuff that doesn't belong in the general post-a-picture threads.
If any of them spawn an extended discussion, please spawn it off into its own thread. Replies to non-picture replies should take the form of a link pointing to a post on a different discussion thread.
And I shouldn't have to say it, but the images still need to abide by the rules.
Am I the only one that finds it ironic that Stockton Rush's entry is directly below Thomas Andrew's? The architect of the Titanic? :O
Ok, that one made me do a spit-take.
please explain

I read it as, the sudden popularity of My Heart Will Go On is the latest in a long chain of events that originate with the writing and publication of Atlas Shrugged.

That's how I read it too, but there must be something more because that reading isn't really that funny.
Ayn Rand wrote terrible books about how capitalism shouldn't have any restrictions and businessmen shouldn't be answerable to anyone. Cue Oceangate's CEO dodging safety regulations so he can bilk billionaires out of money to see the gravesite of another business venture that also ignored safety warnings, causing his own death and the death of others. Which made people reminisce about the Titanic movie and it's theme song, 'causing it to once again be in the top 100, 26 years after it was released.
I am an idiot. I was confusing that song with the Whitney Houston song from the Bodyguard, "I Will Always Love You."
What a dope. Ok, that's really funny.
Thanks Trach - I'm a moron.

I could never confuse those two songs. One is #2 on my most hated songs of all time and the other is #3 and both have uniquely scarred me having lived through the 90s.
I didn’t recognize the name of the song at all.
I mean....i get the connection but it's a pretty weak joke.

Aww. I thought it was a modern refresh of the one about how the Buffalo Bills missing a catch in 1970 got us KUWTK, and since I am in the image thread I will post it:

If it helps:
Country music icon Dolly Parton has revealed that she used some of the royalties she earned from Whitney Houston's cover of her song "I Will Always Love You" to invest in an office complex in a Black neighborhood in Nashville, Tenn.
Dolly Parton is a goddamn national treasure.
Plus she knows how to say F you without saying F you.
Hairstyle and clothes have come a LOOOOONG way. I love how Dolly looks into the camera during the conversation. Such self-assurance. She's amazing. And.. wow... Married for 57 years... I did not know that...
I mean....i get the connection but it's a pretty weak joke.
Know your memes: Domino Effect
There was a show in the 80s called Connections with James Burke that had a very similar premise. It'd start out talking about ancient Egypt developed something to help plant corn, and follow a line of inventions through history until it ends with "and that's how we have nuclear bombs" or some other modern invention.
If you’re a fan of Jurassic Park or Ashton Kutcher, you know it as the Butterfly Effect.
At least they were not from the same news source

Or, you know, Ray Bradbury's short story from 1952 which is believed to have coined the idea, "A Sound of Thunder". I remember reading that as a teen and being creepily horrified.
Can't say I disagree

Yeah... Neither Ashton Kutcher nor Jurassic Park were my go-to for "The Butterfly Effect"
Maybe it's generational.
Is that "Something Wicked this Way Comes"?
That short is really creepy in and unconventional way.

Sorry I am late, but this is how I chose to explain it to my wife.
Ayn Rand's crappy novels are used as the ideological basis for modern libertarianism which is largely a pseudo-intellectual shine on a mindset that includes selfishness, sociopathic behavior and an allergic reaction to adult responsibility. This is most often expressed in screaming about how seat belts, drunk driving laws, and not being able to dump your used motor oil down the storm drain is "communist". It is a mindset perfectly expressed by Rush's pathological avoidance of certification for his toy submarine.
The inevitable appointment between his hubris and nature at the wreck of the Titanic led to numerous memes including Celine Dion's song from the original movie soundtrack.

It's nice, for a change, to see reasoned debate in a social media exchange.

Yep, it's an improvement to see "if you don't like it then leave" types just get slapped down instead of having their sophomoric 'logic' entertained with any vestige of seriousness.
