Emulation catch-all

Which unfortunately is what I mainly plan on doing.

Yeah, in that case you're probably better off hoping for the G Cloud to get cheaper. Also the thumbsticks on the Odin aren't the best. Not terrible by any means, but definitely on the smaller, "flickier" side if that makes sense.

It doesn't bother me at all for what I use it for, and I appreciate that it keeps the device small and streamlined, but I could see it being a problem for modern games, first person shooters and such.

Looks like there is a new G Cloud competitor entering the market in mid Feb. Nice 7" screen, weaker processor than the G cloud. Rumor is early bird pricing at $200, not sure how much after that. Not good for emulation, but would probably be good for my needs.

The RG505 has just added support for exFat SD card support. It helps with big PS2 isos mostly.

Update: I had the most strangest thing. The headphone jack of my RG505 kept registering a phantom plug. I couldn’t clear it. It isn’t the end of the world. It would play audio still from headphones but the speakers wouldn’t play audio. I felt silly but I emailed Anbernic on how to fix it.

They will send me a new motherboard. I hope it isn’t too hard to replace. I liked the device a lot before this and don’t have enough cash to get a new one.

I think I have an old 512 sd card I can format and put it in.

Friends, what would y'all say is the best Playstation emulator? I'm getting Gunship, but I wanna play it on my PC.

Thanks for your time.

I used the Beetle PSX core in RetroArch last year when I played Xenogears, and I had a flawless experience.

Okay so this thing?

I'll give it a whirl. Thank you!!

Duckstation is great on Android, but I've never tried the Windows version.

That's the one! You'll need a PS1 BIOS, but Google should tell you where to find one easily. Don't think I changed anything from the default Beetle PSX config.

Awesome, thank you.

So I got a BIOS and was even able to find drivers for my PS3 controller so it'd have the right buttons and such, and lo and behold I got Gunship running perfectly. Thanks so much!

PS3 drivers is hardcore. I would have just used my PS4 controller

Heh, that would require me owning a PS4.

Since when? I've got a PS4 controller and no PS4. Also have an Xbox One/Series controller (are they the same?
I honestly do not know) and neither of those system either.

I suppose that's fair, but I've not yet had a need to buy a separate PS4 controller for anything.

I got a new board. Time to play doctor and see how hard it is to swap it. I need to backup my PSP saves and then we will see.

Edit. Success. I only shook really badly three times and it took an hour. Prying the case open with a plastic Safeway card felt like tortuous.

The plastic buttons kept falling out and I taped them down while pushing the motherboard in.

I have to reinstall almost everything and change the default Chinese language to English.

Yeah

So the world of x86 boards/handheld pcs is pricey. Ayn, Aya, ROG, and even Steam is on the high end. I payed for an entry level handheld for just under 400 dollars and Ayn just cancelled the model. (I3). Grr. I just wanna decent pc handheld to handle emulation and lite pc gaming.

I mean, if you're spending in the neighborhood of $400, you're already in entry-level Steam Deck territory.

you’re right. Saving money mode here I go.

Or the new Asus handheld that is supposed to go up for orders this month.

AFAIK they haven't announced price yet, but I'd be pretty surprised if it comes in below $400.

After spending forever trying to figure out what handheld I wanted to purchase I decided to get a Logitech G Cloud. I am really loving it so far. Really nice screen, comfortable to use, battery lasts quite a while, no complaints really. I've mainly been playing Castlevania Aria of Sorrow, Honkai Star Rail and streaming MLB The Show on it so far.

You’re right, rumor is that the higher end model Asus will be around 699, and the lower end model might be 599. We’ll find out in 2 days.

Anybody use RALibretro? I've been for awhile, but a couple of days ago I logged out, then tried to log back in but it wouldn't boot. I've checked the FAQuse but can't figure it out, being an almost entirely end-user user. Any suggestions ? The same version works fine on my laptop.

Friend got a cease and desist letter from their ISP recently for 2 switch rom downloads. nord VPN was used but must have leaked IP somehow. Anyone know of anyone ever getting prosecuted for this? my googling says the worst that can happen is ISP cuts of service.

You'll have to do more than download a couple of Switch ROMs to earn prosecution. Nobody's paying a lawyer's billable hours to chase after $100 worth of Internet piracy.

Getting cut off from ISP service is a more realistic possibility, but even there, it's not something ISPs really care to do. After all, it's not their stuff you're downloading, and cutting a person off just costs them a billable account. The scare emails are usually more performative than anything. The big ISPs are being sued by movie studios for not kicking habitually pirating users off their services.

Also, if the ISP saw the traffic, then the VPN was almost certainly not being used correctly. Or it wasn't being used the whole time (example possibility: download via Bittorrent while VPN is active, later disconnect the VPN while the torrent client is still open, and have it broadcast its completed torrent seeds out in the clear over the ISP connection).

So this is really neat, you guys. With this mod, you can run OG Diablo on just about anything. I have it running on my 3DS!

More generally speaking, if you're a fan of old games, you should absolutely keep tabs on the source ports list.

Steam Deck owners should be aware of Luxtorpeda and bookmark its list of supported games/engines.
