Weekly Drawing Prompt Thread

.

Posting now cause I won't have time in the morning:

I am sooooo funny, I know...

Work in progress!

Looks fun!

I am having fun with these... but today I didn't work anywhere near as fast as I was hoping:

My Copic multiliners are mostly destroyed because I press too hard when I ink, so they are almost unusable and I am forced to work very slowly. This happens to me with pretty much every pen I use: I render them unusable before they run out of ink. Oh, well...

I need to take a break because my eyes (and my butt) are killing me after working on these for the past couple of hours. Ideally, I'll find the energy to ink the third one later today, but I make no promises. I need to sit on the couch and focus on something further away from my eyes than a few inches... like the TV for instance. Sounds like a gaming session might be in order!

I got it done!

More progress soon! (And by "soon" I mean "at some point in the next few days.")

More elements for the drawing!

I should now be able to scan and color everything. I just need unlimited time!

I don't think I ever mentioned this here, but a friend of mine and I made this videogame based on Spanish writer Cervantes that you might want to check out. It's free, so you don't have to spend a single cent, and all the artwork is by me. It was really awesome to see all my drawings turn into a game! Anyway, if you check it out, I hope you like it! It's short and sweet!

(My students are reading an easier, simplified version of Don Quijote, and that reminded me I should share this with you, friends.)

Progress!

I stick my head back into the thread to find that it's full of bees. I'm sure illumination will be forthcoming.

I took a short break from posting, but I've drawn a thing or two since.

Aaand that's another thing Mario's done to be envious of. (I've not been able to check it out properly yet though.)

Cool drawing, Ravanon! I love the posture and, as usual, the clothes!

All these bees are for a drawing for my mother-in-law. I'm hoping to hav it finished this weekend, but we'll see. Here's the third bee, fully colored:

As well as the house that will also appear:

More on this when I have the whole thing done.

As for the game, let me know what you think if you check it out. It's a point-and-click adventure, and it was a blast to do.

A few weeks ago, my mother-in-law asked me to update this drawing I made for her in 2017 by replacing the turtle and dragonflies with bees:

IMAGE(https://i.imgur.com/melPad4.jpg)

I said I could switch some bugs, no problem, but since she had been using the drawing on the back of her business cards because she loved it so much, she asked me if, in addition to having bees instead of dragonflies, maybe I could add a house (she's a realtor) in the background, a couple waving at the girls riding the bees, and the sign from her real estate agency. Since I am always "ready to face any challenges that might be foolish enough to face me," I said sure, no problem, and that's how I ended up drawing the piece you've already seen bits and pieces of:

I am happy to report she loved it, but there is no rest for the wicked because this coming Sunday is my wedding anniversary, so I need to go back to the drawing board as soon as I finish typing this. I hope you like both this picture and the one coming in a week!

Just a simple(-ish) one this week, nothing too ambitious:

(Aaarggh, hands.)

I can't believe I forgot to post my Anniversary picture!

Seems the thread's a bit moribund these days. Nobody drawing anything but Mario and I?

Well, here's one thing. I'm currently playing in a Dark Heresy (1st edition) RP campaign, so I drew my character, the slightly hapless adept Merik Salk:

That's really cool! What's with the sword coloring?

Thanks. As for the sword: whim, really. In-game it's a mono-sword, so I don't think there's any good reason for it to glow like that, unless Merik's just stabbed a furnace.

I don't know the game, but the drawing looks cool!

Hear, hear! I drew something on Monday that I'm hoping to color today, so it should be ready soon!

The somewhat recent news of a Golden Girls beat'em up parody game inspired my latest bout of silliness:

IMAGE(https://i.imgur.com/lE95AbM.jpg)

I picture this as the character selection screen. Needless to say, it would be four-player co-op.

Is this a reference to The Golden Girls Take Manhattan DX game? (I mean, there can't be two Golden Girls parody games... can there?

The world is a very strange place.

Yes, it is! (I mean both the game and the world being a strange place.) But I think the world would be a better place if there were two (or more) Golden Girls games. I can picture dating sims, point & click adventures, and more!

Anyway, here you have some sketches I did at at a two-hour-long meeting I had yesterday:

Top row, third from the left.
That's the one. The one that took my purse officer!

HAHAHA. It totally looks like a lineup.

Here's another thing that I've drawn recently.

I feel like Ravanon draws two kinds of subjects: fey folk with horns and wings, and fey folk whose horns and wings aren't currently visible.

Bodices too ;P
Love the folds and the layering of folds on folds in this one Rav!

This is becoming increasingly difficult to deny...

Thanks!

Reflecting, it's interesting how much an artist's 'style' seems to come from a combination of random whim and innoculous decisions. I use a lot of 'ren-faire' and victoriana reference photos to help with drawing realistic poses and proportions, which also forces me to learn how to draw folds in cloth (which I still struggle with); I add horns and wings (and pointy ears) because it's a fun way to spice up a drawing. I can draw other things—look two of my posts up!—but I definitely wear my preferences on my sleeve when I'm not following someone else's prompt list.

Pay no attention to the razzing of the peanut gallery Draw what you want. And what you've shared with us never gets old!

Also a curious cool tidbit with this one is that the way the bodice is strapped to the shoulders gives the illusion the wings are attached rather that a part of the body. Sounds pretty cool: bodice of flight

I was saying that Rav's portraits have an aura of mystery to them even when there's nothing overtly mysterious in sight. I really hope it's obvious that that's not razzing.

Maybe razzing wasn't the right word, too negative. And I was including myself in the peanut gallery.

I know in my case, I wanted to offer more than "like", "that's great", "nice" for all the work Rav (and Mario) has put in consistently over the years.
