Post a quote, that could have just been text but instead for some stupid reason is an image, entertain me!

In a world of Alitas, be a Grewishka.

It's almost as if people don't realize that cyberpunk dystopias aren't made by sincere futurists, but rather are carefully crafted to shill to horny teenage boys? And that they build upon literally centuries of art being dominated by the male gaze.

Not since the 90's, Jonman, and the 70's for other flavors of SF. (The paper argues that the Second Wave of Cyberpunk introduced feminist and LGBTQ+ themes into Cyberpunk, but also that the the First Wave was not *intentionally* exclusionary - see the success of Pat Cadigan, for example. It's a good read.)

There is a lot of sexism in the media, but to argue that most Cyberpunk is exploitation is pretty wrong, and dismisses the works of many female and male writers who have added feminist perspectives and themes to their writings over the years.

I don't disagree with you when it comes to the written word, Robear.

But visual media? Sheesh...

Yeah... I've mostly just ignored that side of it, to be honest.

That is so effing true. Rather a snowflake than a psychopath.

What in the hell is going on, there, mathematically? Why is the result 8 and not, say, 6 and 2/3... and why is it not *exactly* 8?

There's gotta be a paper on this somewhere.

Well, 123,456,789 x 8 = 987654312, so it's really just a coincidence they are so close. Also, any number times 8 has to be even, so it couldn't end in a 1 anyway. There's essentially an infinite number of near misses like that if you look hard enough.

Also obligatory XKCD:

Why is black hat dude so self-destructive? lol

Thanks for clarifying that for me, Mix. Something kept saying "It's gotta have to do with 8" but I'm not used to thinking like a mathematician.

Math majors don't have a lot to live for.

Some men just want to see the world bur^n.

I used to regret not going to MIT to get my doctorate and going into academia. But since then, talking it over with a number of folks who are tenured in similar fields, apparently I dodged what for me most likely would have been a highly stressful, frustrating career. I don't do politics, and apparently that is as or more important than competency in many academic careers...

I mean...

That doesn't imply *self* destruction lol.

They run on "energon".

And is energon clean? Renewable? Sustainable?

Depends on what you make it with I guess. It's like electricity; the energy that goes into it can come from a variety of sources.

Not sure about the emissions; is that internal combustion engine sound they make when they drive part of the disguise or are they actually burning something?

actually, it's pronounced 'enerjon'

/runs away

The shows/comics/movies are not what you'd call a consistent canon.
