NCAA Basketball 2022-2023 Catch-all

I would just like to point out that our final four matchups are FAU vs. SDSt. and Miami vs. UConn. The average seed of the participants is 5.75, unlike other years when it is around 2-3. You know, in case you think this is normal.

I kind of want FAU to win.

Backstory: Their athletic director is Brian White, son of former Duke AD Kevin, brother of Tennessee's AD Danny, brother of current GA head basketball coach, Mike. His sister Mariah Chappell is assistant AD at SMU.

Danny was AD at UCF in 2017 when they went undefeated in football. Subsequently as a marketing stunt they started declared themselves national champions after not getting selected for the CFP. They then went on to beat Auburn in the Peach Bowl.

If FAU wins, Brian White would have a real national championship to hold over his brother Danny, who has a marketing national championship.

I would find that amusing to think about.

All signs seem to be pointing to former stanfurd star and current Utah Valley State head coach Mark Madsen is in line to be Cal's next head coach. Assuming that happens, stanfurds men's basketball coach Jarred Haase and football coach Troy Taylor will both be former Cal players, and Cal's basketball coach will be a former stanfurd player...

And how's it going on coaching search... the other 2 candidates who most thought were realistic possibilities, current Kennesaw State HC Amir Abdur-Rahim, brother of former Cal star Abdur, was either not offered or passed on the opportunity and current UC Santa Barbara Coach Joe Pasternak, former assistant for Cal, re-signed with UCSB.

And just to make it more interesting, current and mostly incompetent Cal Athletic Directory Jim Knowlton is currently under investigation for how we completely mishandled the (Cal and Team USA's women's swimming coach) Terri McKeever's situation after allegedly being made aware of a toxic environment more than 2 years before actually firing her.

What a time to be a Cal fan!

Awesome NIT game tonight. Wisconsin up 8 then goes scoreless the final 9:07. North Texas wins by 2.

I think I already locked a win in the tournament challenge. Not that anyone cares any more LOL.

Well done sir. No one can gain any more points.

tboon got FAU in the Final 4 and nopants got SDSU. No one else got any points for the Elite 8. Collectively we were 2/28 on Final Four teams from our 7 brackets.

We sucked good this year.

For the second chance, sweet 16 game, where we all should have known better...

noPants and ukick are tied. NP has SDSU as the champ.

The other 5 of us have no champion left.

ukick can get 1 more win if UConn makes the finals. So if that happens and SDSU loses, ukick can win. If SDSU wins and loses to UConn in the finals, we have a tie and go to points. Same if they both lose.

Very interesting for the two of you at least.

Ego man... entered, but forgot to make any picks in Sweet 16. Last place secured.

Ego wins "most consistent" this year!

ESPN confirms.

Is this where we talk Women's NCAA?

Because Taurasi and Bird are doing the ManningCast thing for Iowa/South Carolina and it is really good. Like, better than those dorky brothers.

And are they doing wine in those tumblers?

Yeah I'm watching. Good times. SCar undefeated season on the ropes

Caitlin Clark, my lord

Told y'all when she did the 40-point triple double vs my Cards last week. She's the damn female Steph Curry. Those step back 3s are nuts. And she pulls from half court logo stuff too

Caitlin Clark has scored more points in postseason play (235) than Iowa Football scored all season (230).

Scored or assisted on every Iowa point in the 4th quarter.

That was a really good game. I kind of was more interested in this game than any of the men's games so far. Definitely pulling for Iowa in the final.

I'd also really like to watch more Bird/TuarasiCast. That was really entertaining. Kind of like having actual people in the living room watching the game with you. When they brought on Doris and they all nerded out, that was a good watch experience. Nothing like watching people who are passionate about something get their geek on.

Since a 5-seed is the only 1-8 seed to never win a tournament, I must declare allegiance to Miami and SDSU tonight. Let's guarantee that fun on Monday night.

A few big runs but looks like this first game might come down to the wire.

Dame Time sh*t.

The Butler did it.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!

And to think I almost turned the game off in disgust after being down 14.

Somewhere Tony Gwynn is smiling.

That was a bullsh*t technical with a lot of flopping. I was fully on your side after that

No kidding. Some serious BS to collapse to a kneel so you could get the refs to review it.

SDSU wasn't helping themselves by missing all those free throws, though. Might not have needed the buzzer beater!

LOL, thank god he hit that, cuz if he missed, he's a goat, and not the good kind.

Hmmm. I don't think Miami has it in them to come back from this one. UConn has too many interchangeable parts, and they're playing their best basketball at the right time.

To paraphrase Stugotz: Marin City. Marin Catholic. Collision course.

Just 75% from 3 for LSU the first half. And girl off the bench goes 5 for 5. Crazy.

The reactions to this on Twitter are like a text book example of the Two Americas theory.
