Diablo IV - Catch All

Mine too. I reported it as a bug last weekend.

I suspect that what they are doing is running the databases starting at the UNIX/Linux epoch. This could be a clever way to identify all beta-testing user data later for easy analysis and later deletion. Any database entries dated before, say, January 4th 1970 would be the beta info.

Got a sorcerer to 25 in last weekend's beta and loved it. Played a necro up to 15, did not care for it at all. Playing a rogue now (ranged) and the playstyle is awesome. I didn't expect to love a rogue but so far so good!

Really? Corpse explosion rocks!

I was following a build that didn't use corpse explosion. Had a friend play CE and he loved it. Had none of the issues that I was having. I may revisit today, we will see

Yeah, that date certainly jumped to mind. Though I would've assumed that they just do a full table wipe of all user/character data before they go live, irrespective of any dates.

Yeah but until then this would be a great way to distinguish various testing cycles from each, I would think. (Or maybe I'm just too old-school; they could use pluggable databases or containers to get similar effects, but those would cost extra.)

/Adjusts Glasses; Now where did I put that makefile, err I mean dockerfile...

Around 6 eastern last night it took about a half hour to get in.

I didn’t mind the wait, plenty to do in the meantime.

What did bother me was server lag while in the game itself. I assume I can hit a “play offline” button somewhere in the full release to alleviate that issue. Hope so anyway.

Tried sorcerer, druid, rogue, and a smidge of necro. I will probably be sticking with Rogue for my first character. Or maybe play a rogue and sorcerer simultaneously. One of the reasons I never made a second D3 run was going back through the basic levels of the game was tedious.

I did get some rubber-banding when entering the first real city. But that's it for server lag for me.

Same

This is apparently not the real clan. The real one is set to private and run by Ranalin and Propagandolf, and I was able to get an invite on the Discord.

20-minute queue, not too bad I think. Gets to about one minute, and crashes. Log back in, 35-minute queue. I has a sad.

I found a fun spot for Druid by using the Wind basic to build Spirit and proc Vulnerable, then switching to a Werewolf spender that charges in for the actual damage. When my sprit runs out I hit the wind defensive and knock everything back so I can maneuver. I see at least one passive that rewards you every time you shift back into Human form, so it looks like they want to enable that kind of back-and-forth playstyle.

My shoot-y stab-y Rogue is a more fun version of the same dynamic, but I'm hopeful that the later skills will help differentiate it better.

They don't. At least as far as the druid. The tree with the vine, wolves and ravens looks interesting but is largely bland. Compared to the necro, the druid is fighting through jello and about as effective as jello.

Really sad because I gave them that feedback months ago and they have done next to nothing to improve the barbarian and druid. Back then I thought the ravens were broken because you couldn't tell if the passive was doing anything. Well they haven't changed so they its as intended I guess.
Oh and people say its only level 25, the cap was removed back then or at least it was much higher. My necro hit 35 and my sorc hit 38. I barely got my druid to 20 and I just couldn't stand the barb, so she was stuck at 14. Way more fun to play rogue, necro and sorc... I wish it was personal preference but with their skill trees you should have a variety of choices for each class. You unlock so much by level 12-15 that you should be able to find something. With the Barb I found nothing other than whirlwind. With the druid I found a build I liked but it was little more than half as effective as the competent classes.

For example:

Necro skeletons: you get 4 of them, you can choose between dps, defense and hybrid, you have a few traits to spec on them
Druid wolves: you get 2 and that is what you are stuck with

Both seem to be the same sturdiness. The skeletons seem to do more damage individually aside from the fact there is twice as many. (you can actually spec for 5 skeletons)

How is it on the XBox S?

It plays well! I only have it outputting at 1080p due to having an older capture card hooked up to the pc but it runs well and looks good.

Fury + Hammer of The Ancients + Deathblow was some of the most fun I've had with any class ever in Diablo. Barb is fun.

I have played for only about one hour but am at the point where I know I am going to purchase & play the game when it comes out. That leaves me debating how much I want to play during the beta, assuming that the character is going to get wiped when it's all said and done.

I think that, as with D3, the end-game will be the main focus for us after we've done the story. So it should be fine if you like the basic systems.

Looks like the databases are having trouble today. No queue to speak of, the character select UI comes up but is not populated with any character data. Guess I'll keep trying.

There are a few titles and cosmetics to be obtained once the game releases (including a cute wolf pup), if you get a character up to level 20 during the beta. I played a class that I was reasonably sure I wouldn’t want to play long-term, so I’d still have something fresh to play later.

I did too, but it turns out Sorcerer is just electrifying to me, so that might be my first class in June lol

Rolled up a Necro last night but it's just been too much fun goofing about with both melee and range flavours of the Rogue. Secured my wolf puppy pack last night so that little bit of pressure's off.

Yep, hit level 20 today on my Sorceror. Which I am loving.

So do you just get the puppy thing once you hit level 20?

Only after the game goes live in June.

Ohhhh, got it, thank you.

I reached level 22 with a Sorcerer this weekend. I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. I'm very happy we're back to building a character with picking abilities / passives. My biggest grievance with D3 was that there was no difference between each character's build.

I wonder if the drop rate is indicative of the final game, I'm guessing not. I found a lot of items that gave multiple abilities, so much so that I was able to reach level 4 in Ice Storm before putting a point into it.

I'm not a huge Diablo player. I probably put 40 or 50 hours into D3, never played 1 or 2. I thought the beta was fun and I'll buy the game but it also felt...safe. D3 came out over 10 years ago. D4 felt like it could be a D3 expansion as opposed to a sequel after 10 years. Maybe I'm forgetting stuff about D3 and there are big changes, but I didn't feel it.

Welp, I got my Necromancer to 25, got a golem, had some more fun, and then decided to stop. Very excited about the full version in June. This was great fun.

I can't decide between Necromancer or Sorcerer to start with the game release. What a blast.

Melee Rogue is fun but I found it tough to stay alive in a boss battle or during those dicy-er mini-public events where swarms of angry goat men come after you. A couple more levels and I can unlock the Imbue skill cluster. Look forward to using poison imbue with Flurry. Been a tiring weekend but hope to sink a bit more time into this tonight.

I got a Druid (the class I was most excited for) up to 25 and it was a slough. It seems similar to Barb in that it might take a while to get the class going. But where Barb gets into it around 15, 25 isn't really doing it for Druid. That said, there are two key aspects to Druid they are keeping out of the Beta. One is the lvl 15 Spirit Aspect customization that all the other classes get (passive spells for Sorc, weapon mastery for Barb). The other is a unique mechanic to Druid called Crushing Blow. Apparently it takes a set percentage of the enemy's life bar off if it hits. Their absence are dragging the class down. Plus, and this might be my luck only, the legendary items I'm getting for Druid aren't all that great. It seems like it takes 2 or even 3 specific legendary items working in tandem to get the class going. Every other class I've played had several singular legendary items that are game changers (double hydras, I'm looking at you).

Overall, I'm still excited for Druids, but only in June. They're pretty lackluster for the beta.
