The big "How do I choose an HDTV?" thread.

Every Christmas season I'm reminded how dated "Elf" is when Peter Dinklage's character brags about his wealth by describing how many 70 inch TVs he owns, 3rd place behind the number of homes he has and how much "action" he gets.

This tells me I should have spent the last 20 years investing less in large TVs and more in homes and action.

Posting this here, because it's kinda gonna be the most awesome thing to test 4K HDR TVs on:

So excited this exists having seen it in the theater. I have the regular Blu-ray. I will quickly give that away.

I ordered this as well (actually just got a shipping notification) and am beyond pumped. I never thought we'd get a 4K of it. So I will need to find someone to give my Blu-ray to as well.

I've never seen this movie. Worth the 4k blu ray cost?

For sure if you are into, like, Criterion Collection stuff.

I saw it in a really nice theater when it came out. Waypoint radio did a recent podcast on it which is really fun.

Has anyone else’s LG OLED after recent firmware updates now “force” the WebOS Home Screen on boot? Mine used to just jump into HDMI 1 to show my Xbox but now at least 2/3rds of the time I have to toggle my harmony remote to the LG TV and manually select HDMI 1 to get off the webos Home Screen.

I haven't had that happen on mine, but come to think of it I don't think I even have it connected to the internet at all.

That doesn't happen with mine either. Granted I usually turn it on via the HDMI-link, so maybe that tells the TV what input to go to initially.

Mine did a long time ago. IIRC there is a hidden option in the menu system to disable it. I also use it with a Harmony remote so it annoyed me very much.

Not sure if this is still relevant but I just found this:
Press settings button on remote - go to all settings at bottom - general - additional settings - home settings then disable home auto launch

Oh awesome. I will enable that today and see if it makes a difference.
