RIP Lance Reddick

Alternate title: f*ck man. What the sh*t.

Sometimes, people just go too soon.

Seeing this knocked the wind out of me.

No no no.
He was just tweeting video with his dogs Wednesday. John Wick 4 next week.

Damn.

Oh I loved him - what a bummer.

Same. I just watched that video last night. It's a bit of a gut punch.

This is very sad. He was fantastic in everything he did.

Incredible actor. He brought enormous gravitas to every character he played.

Lance Reddick Answers Every Question We Have About John Wick

How has your friendship changed after four movies?
We’ve gotten to know each other a little better. I hope I don’t get in trouble for telling this story: During John Wick: Chapter Four, my first day of filming happened to be Keanu’s birthday. But he wasn’t in the scene. He came to the set anyway at nine o’clock at night with his girlfriend who I had never met. And she is … can I say a bad word?

Go for it.
His girlfriend is cool as f*ck. And she told me that she asked Keanu what he wanted to do for his birthday and he said, “I want to go see Lance.” He’d never done this before but he wrote me a note thanking me for what I brought to the character in these movies. And he wanted to give the note to me. I’ll never forget it. I’m going to cry now.

Going to rewatch The Guest and the Labor Day episode of Corporate in his honour tomorrow.

Far, far too soon.

The first role I think of when I think of Lance Reddick is Sylens in Horizon Zero Dawn. That performance was one of the high points of a great game.

He had style.

This sucks. He seemed like the kind of guy that wouldn't even start slowing down until well into his 80's.

Lance Reddick was one of those dudes who would be great in good movies or shows, and absolutely the best thing in a bad movie/show. Never gave less than 110%.

And he was willing to totally sell out on some weird, hilarious, ridiculous stuff too:

A phenomenal actor. This one was a real gut-punch today.

Saw someone mention online that this one truly, truly underlines how "tomorrow isn't promised." Hug em' if you love em'.

RIP Lance.

I just rewatched The Wire during pandemic lunches in 2020. But I was thinking about it again recently. And then I thought about Fringe. I loved my 2nd viewing, knowing the big pieces of what was coming and watching for foreshadowing. And I did watch all 3 John Wick movies again in Feb.

Usually I will watch something to celebrate their life when an actor dies. I guess it might be Fringe again.

He's got so many credits. Almost forgot about his few appearances in LOST.

Yeah, it's about time for me to rewatch The Wire. Tho I really do need to catch up on Harley Quinn first.

Been here.

I first saw him in Fringe. He didn't have a huge role, but he was rock solid all the way. He will be missed.

Bleh, currently working through Horizon Forbidden West today. This is bad news.

Been really difficult playing Destiny over the past few days, given how integral he was to the game. Probably 70% or higher of anything you do has some kind of dialog from him. And he was a regular player, so out of all the voice actors really felt like he was part of the community. Especially when he decided to voice a meme as Zavala (NSFW - Language).
