Whoa one last good sale?

there are still sales periodically, particulary from Capcom for MonHun or Resident Evil games. There was also several Picross e games that just went on sale. I'm still hoping for one big blowout before the end to pick up some OG gameboy games.

Yes I might grab some picross too.

Last chance to purchase anything is March right?

March 27

EDIT: And it looks like the picross sale ends today at midnight, Pacific time. For reference,

2022 Summary

15 hrs - Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux

And that's it; everything else was on Switch.

I think the upcoming year will have a better showing. I still have a lot of picross and Atlus titles on the backlog.

I've been thinking about picking up that Fire Emblem Echoes game too. Maybe there will be a sale with the new game on Switch. Realized I never played that one.

Ace Attorney eShop sale!

This is definitely the last one.

$30 games are $3 wow

How were there not better sales generally since they announced the end? I’ve kept a decent eye out and little if any first party went on discount and overall, it’s just been a sad rotation of the same sales with only a handful standouts. I’d build quite the end of life library if they’d fire sale more of the eshop

It feels like they were holding off for the same reason we've all been holding off - because we're all anticipating the end here. Capcom games have gone on sale frequently (although these are the deepest discounts yet, so I snapped up all the Ace Attorney games I didn't already have), and there have been periodic other sales as well.

Honestly, I'd recommend anyone interested in what's on sale to keep an eye on r/3dsdeals to know what is going on sale and when.

There's a handful of Game Boy games that I'm waiting on to see if they go on sale before the end, like Legend of the River King and Radar Mission that were games of my childhood. I don't think they've ever gone on sale since they would never get much attention, and would only get the decrease if there was a final across-the-board fire sale, but I'm still holding out hope.

Looks like most, if not all, Capcom titles are $3.

That price for my favorite entries in Monster Hunter blows my mind.

Why would they give you an awesome discount if they know that you know that this is your last chance to pay "only" MSRP for the digital version as opposed to trying to hunt up a used cart at ever-inflating prices?

The wonder is that Capcom is giving sweet deals, not that everyone else isn't.

(Of course, I've hacked my 3DS and will just pirate whatever I don't get now, but most people who do that won't pay money for anything anyway so they don't matter.)

There was a big Atlus sale last year after the end date was announced. But yeah seems like nothing good lately until this.

Nintendo would sooner toss the source code for their 1st party games into a volcano than offer them for a reasonable discount.

Apparently, Atlus was set to start a sale on all of their 3DS titles yesterday through the 28th but they backed off due to undisclosed reasons. I'm glad I'd bought all the Atlus titles I wanted from the past two or three sales they've had in the last couple of years.

Steamworld games are all $2-4.

RPG preview game for $1 on eShop. Buy it now before the shop closes and get the full game via patch when it's done.

Innovative idea to workaround the closure.

I have been won over by the developer's moxie! Had the buck to spare, so why not gamble? Took me a moment to realize the play on words on the title, Otosan being father in Japanese, if I recall correctly (otousan?).

Well that's awesome. I might charge up my 3DS just to download that.

So, after trying out the demo earlier, I made what is likely to be my final purchase for the 3DS last night. I purchased Harmoknight, a platforming/rhythm game mashup a la Bit Trip Runner but with Gamefreak charm.

I'm glad we got enough of a heads-up a couple of years back or so and that I could take advantage of enough sales. I am still feeling very nostalgic and misty about this closure, even more so than when the Wii's eShop closed.

This system was the first I got for my daughter (it was followed by the WiiU but that never was as popular with her in her formative years) and where we fostered a closer relationship based on Pokemon, Zelda, Mario, and Luigi's Mansion 2. I recall reaching out to fellow G'jers because she had wanted to get a Riolu to evolve into Lucario in Alpha Sapphire and, since the game doesn't have that particular mon, someone on this site was kind enough to trade one with me; there's a picture of my pajama-wearing daughter smiling, 3DS in hand, ready to dive back into the game with her new Riolu.

I know my 3DS will fail one day, entropy being what it is, and so will hers. I hope it's a date many years in the future. When that day comes, I might feel like I lost a good friend, one who played a great part in my life and my closeness with my kid. Until then, well, I hope I can make the most of the little clam-shelled wonder.

I couldn't have put it better myself. Well said.

Teaming up with G'jers in Monster Hunter 4U is right up there with the most fun I've ever had with this hobby, all thanks to the 3DS platform and this community. Cheers!

If anyone out there hasn't already hacked their 3DS, DOWNLOAD POKEMON PICROSS BEFORE THE ESHOP CLOSES.

It's a free download and used for one of the most common / easiest jailbreak methods. Even if you don't think you'll ever want to jailbreak, better to have the option and not use it than want it and not have it.

Well that's me done.

The three Etrian Odyssey games, Shovel Knight Treasure Trove and three Steamworld games purchased. All for £20ish. I have the Steamword titles and Shovel Knight already on other systems but 3DS seems like a good home for them

I'd best get playing some of these bargains now!

I went ahead and got Fire Emblem Echoes. Looking around the prices on eBay were above retail and it's been out of stock at Amazon and others for a while. Might as well have my FE collection complete.

Lot of people were tweeting out goodbyes last night as it went to maintenance at midnight. But it's still up for a few more hours today

I snagged some DLC for the Fire Emblem games plus Birthright for $20 since that's going to be more expensive physical. Plus a few nostalgic GB games (Golf, Radar Mission, Legend of the River King, Kirby's Block Ball) that weren't announced for the Switch Online. Really was surprised there wasn't a blowout sale; there were a few here and there (Capcom had one near the end, the Steamworld games got cheap, Shovel Knight was $5), but no wide ranging thing that I think many were waiting for.

I think I saw it goes down at 3PM Pacific time, so there's a little time this afternoon for anyone who wants to do a last minute buy.

Yeah I was holding out hope for a big sale at the very end, but no, nowt but the usual sprinkling.

Played some shovel knight over lunch. It is good hey

Hm looks like there was lots of free DLC packs for FE Echoes. But I had to start a new game, finish training battle, and then skip through some dialogue, and get all the way to the world map. Then you can go to the connect menu and "purchase dlc".

Why can't they just put sh*t in the main menus?

I'm going to have to restart the game to actually have any idea what I just skipped. But needed to "purchase" the free stuff once before the store goes down I think.

Hope I haven't missed anything like this on the other games I have in the 3DS pile... Persona Q2, SMT 4:A, SMT:DS2:RB, etc...

This is apparently a thing in a bunch of DLC for Nintendo games of that era. Some required you to play much more than what you described. This video is an interesting watch and showcases that problem very clearly:

Well I went through the menus in everything and got several free DLC for SMT apocalypse, and Persona Q2. Also some quests for Monster Hunter Generations that I apparently missed before. I think that's everything. Got the Fates Revelations stuff a month back.

I checked some other games at lunch too and looks like I have enough. Not going to buy DLC for old Smash Bros when I haven't touched it since the Switch one released.

But I think I'll try to put a 3DS game in the monthly pile thread and keep plugging away at the ones I do have for the next few months. Maybe I can start by finishing Radiant Historia finally...

Edit: I forgot to check RH. It has a free extra hard difficulty level as DLC. Sheesh.

I’m convinced. 3DS going for street pass and traveling

Aren't all the free updates available to games you own going to continue to be available?

Redownload of games or patches and already purchased DLC yes.

But a ton of games put extra content in Free DLC to get you into the store within the game. And then maybe you'll buy something I guess?

But all DLC purchases are going away in 3 hours, meaning you can't buy them anymore, even if they are free.

Ah well, I'll be missing out on some bits then I guess. Shame.

I’m okay personally with saying goodbye to those bits. If I haven’t gotten to the games yet, if I ever do, then I’ll probably be fine without the DLC. Most of the time the DLC didn’t interest me that much anyway.
