Marvel Snap - Catch-all

Wave, Hela, MODOK, Odin might be a little more versatile and less predictable than Invisible Woman, MODOK, Hela. You can still use IW if Odin is in your hand but if he isn't you don't have to. If you don't have Hela in your hand after playing Wave you can play MODOK. If you don't have Hela or MODOK you can play one of your heavy hitters that Hela would resurrect.

An unprotected Modok basically makes you dependent upon whatever your turn 6 card draw happens to be. It’s a massive gamble unless you get really lucky and once again is vulnerable to Cosmo. This is basically like the Wong/Mystique reveal combo, it’s extremely effective if you can pull it off, but it’s easily disrupted and your opponent can see it coming the moment you lay down the first card in the combo.

If there is still interest in doing a tournament, I can work on getting one organized. Depending on how many people are going to participate, I was thinking doing something similar to how the World Cup does it, meaning we can have a few groupings of 3-4 people, do some round robin playing within each group, then have the winners of the groupings play each other in a single elimination. I figure that would be more fun then just doing a one and done tournament. If you're interested, just make a post below with the first line "Interested", and below that what are the best times for you to play, so I can try and make the groupings around similar play times.

Just let me know where to sign up.

Bit bored of seeing Wave in every game now.
I would be interested in tournie but as im in england, time zones won't work out I would think.

i am still interested.

Sure, interest noted

I would definitely play.

Had my best round so far, earlier today.

lol why is Magik so popular, I see her constantly now and I’ve never had a match where an extra turn made a difference for the person who played her.

Magik is in a few of my decks: if things are going well with my Negative deck, the extra turn gives extra draws and a chance to lay out more base power before hopefully really blowing things up at the end, especially if she got Negatived, because now she's 3/5. That's what this guy was doing, but since he clearly didn't hit Iron Man and lacked much of anything else, he should have retreated.

In She-Naut, if Sunspot is down, I can pass turn 6, and now not only can I play Infinaut, She-Hulk costs 0, so I can play her, too. I try to Moongirl her as well, so often I'll have 2 free She-Hulks to throw out.

In D&She, if things have gone extraordinarily well, Magik leads to Wave on turn 6, and once again, extraordinarily well, playing 2 0 cost Deaths and 2 3 cost She-Hulks.

Also Magik f*cken rules, so.

Okay, I guess I just never see any of this because I have Sandman in most of my decks so extra turns don’t really mean anything. Sandman is low-key one of the best cards in the game because he interrupts like half the combos that are currently in the meta.

I rarely see Sandman--I tried him, and it just didn't feel fun. Also, looking at cartoonin's pic again, I'm not convinced that was a person. Lots of weird-ass plays.

I've used Sandman in one of my decks, he's a fun spoiler. I'll often retreat if he's played against me because I'm usually playing multiple cards in the back half of the game.

I'm also a big Magik player, the 6 and 7 energy rounds play well with my Patriot based deck.

Tournament sounds fun, but I'm also in the EU Central region, so time zones and I'm not even sure if there's a way to play with people on another server.

I thought I was done with the game after going on a business trip for a couple of days. Not going through my daily routine snapped me out of the habit of doing the daily missions and I pretty much forgot about the game for a week or two.

Then I was down with a cold for a couple of days and that got me playing again a few days before the season ended. I decided to try and push for rank 50 from I think 42 one night. It didn't go well and I ended up bouncing between 46 and 48... I think I'm done with climbing. Most of the fun I have with the game resolves around trying new cards and throwing together decks and trying to climb puts me into this tryhard mindset where I consider retreating almost every second game trying to guess how likely I am to win. Feels like I'm betting and calculating chances more than playing cards.

So, now I'm trying to complete my pool 3 collection. I'm down to four cards missing: Absorbing Man, Cerebro, Derbii and Thor. Unfortunately none of them looks really exciting to me. Titana, Luke Cage and Beast were fun though.

My favorite deck atm is Agatha. Mostly because her super power is collecting boosters. I had so many cards missing one to three boosters to level up I even went to build a deck just with cards that were one booster away from their next level up. Happy to have Senor Scratchy soak up all the boosters now

My favorite Sandman deck is when Sandman isn't in my deck, but I Viper Electro to the other side. All the benefits of Sandman and Eletrco with none of the drawbacks. Can even be done by turn 4.

I guess the advantage of my current main deck is that I almost never play more than 1 card a round and usually only 5 or 6 cards max each match.

Another fun Magik play I just did: when your opponent Storms a lane they've packed a bit poorly, Magik can teleport in and say "Nuh uh." (She actually removes problematic zones often for me, this one was just extra funny)

I like to Storm areas that they flooded as a "No! Only I can flood locations".

It’s a very discard heavy meta at the moment isn’t it. Works for me as I have a good discard deck.

Everybody is about that manmade organism designed only to kill. Then they be like bring on the apocalypse. Or they be like I love death more than you Thanos or Deadpoo with Moribus as their wingman. This is so wrong because I know they are dating Hela. How are you going to cheat on Hela with Death.

Yeah the discard is heavy. The meta have been really heavy on all things death related.

best deck I’ve seen is Modok/Moon Girl/Morbius/Collector/Mystique/Swarm. You can get both Morbius and Collector buffed into the 20s and dupe either with Mystique for three massive cards.

I actually haven't come across a MODOK yet, but I've made sure to remove Morph from the few places I had him, just in case.

The tension of having a power 32 Human Torch and just thinking "please don't have Killmonger" last turn move planned sure is something else.
In other news my mate last all his progress and got booted back down to level 1, no collection or anything, so kinda killed the game for him unless they can fix it.

I'm enjoying Wong, Black Panther and Arnim Zola. When Onslaught's Citadel was a featured location, I dropped 256 on two sites in multiple matches. I also have Rogue, Killmonger, White Tiger and Odin for plan B and contingencies. It's stupid fun when it works.

I got a Black Widow variant and wanted to use her, which I never had. A cool combo I found is playing her with Scorpion on turn 4. Adding a Wong makes it even more annoying.

Guh, we’re in a fresh season and I’m playing a new, less-annoying-to-face deck and I still can’t get a decent match. Just spent 20 minutes trying to play and only 4 matches made it past turn 4 without the opponent retreating, and only 2 actually completed. Worst offender was the guy who retreated on turn 1 when Sakaar pulled America Chavez out of their deck and Apocalypse out of mine. That’s only a three power difference, it’s not like it’s insurmountable. At least wait to see what the other locations are ffs.

You don't know what was in their hand though.

They might have had a complete brick of a hand and the first draw didn't go their way. Depending on the deck, that can make it easily worth just bailing for 1 cube.

I get wanting to play out games because I kind of want to as well, but as long as our only matchmade play mode is directly linked to ranked climbing and actual rewards a lot of people are going to mitigate loss when they can.

Getting annoyed at them for using the game's systems in the exact way they're supposed to is pretty unfair.

…and if they don’t snap and don’t retreat until turn 6 they get punished by losing… 2 cubes.

If it was more punitive I would understand, but the functional difference between retreating early vs retreating late is negligible, and I’ve turned bad locations and bad draws around enough times that I know it’s worth waiting.

What annoys me more than the early quitters are the people that snap on turn 6 when they have an obvious win. You must only want 1 cube. That of you were bluffing me, well guess what. Here is your 1 cube.
