Blood Shards on off hands should be easy enough to get. Or craft yellow off hands and use the cube to upgrade them to legendary items.
Cleared GR100 for the first time ever using an Impale build Demon Hunter. Watching videos of people doing GR150s I can't imagine the tedium of a) grinding down that much HP on monsters and b) grinding the 2k+ paragon it seems necessary to not instantly die.
The conquests this season are a pain, but I managed to do the Boss Rush one the other day, completing the final Season Journey tier.
So far this season I've played Wizard (bullet-hell magic missle build and now a Hydra build), said Demon Hunter, and a Barb (whirlwind build). Really enjoying the sanctified item mechanics and how they synergize with various builds.
I started Crusader this time, got a Invoker thorns build that can do around GR 85 or so but none of the sanctifications really mesh well with it. Tried to go with the Fist of Heavens build to get a sanctification-friendly one going but it still doesn't clear as well as the thorns for some reason. Toyed with a Demon Hunter (Multishot with the sanctified Strafe ability) for a while and just recently rolled a Wizard to try that magic missile build you mentioned, but I haven't got any of the set drops yet.
Now I'm distracted by the Diablo 4 beta, but I guess I can't really talk about that.

$70 seems a bit steep for a "standard edition" in my opinion.
$70 is going to be the standard for triple-A games going forward.

I have no uncontrollable urge to grab it at $70. We will see as it gets closer to release.
I doubt I will see it discounted on any of the usual sites. It is too bad all the hubbub about MS buying ACTIBLIZ because it would be nice to see a discount and/or D4 on gamepass. (that would sell a lot of GP subs for sure)
D3 and D2R are still filling that action rpg itch right now. And TBH, I just bought and then upgraded an electric scooter. It has completely consumed my free time and mindshare reserved for video games. It is that much fun!
The $70 doesn't bother me as much as the battle pass.
I still haven't picked up DLC for this one. Saw a sale a couple weeks ago and almost did but realized I never finished a full run on this either.
I lost interest in the current season a long time ago, but the next one is looking to bring me back.

I only hope that you can use material costs from higher points to unlock lower points.
I.E. the cost to unlock the 8th point is 30 forgotten souls. It seems I can get the 8th point without unlocking points 1-7. It would also be nice to use 30 forgotten souls to unlock say the second point if I've already used it to unlock the 8th point.
I mention this because certain materials required to unlock the points may be easier to attain on certain classes than others. I.E. getting a flawless royal ruby might be easier than looting a set helm... Also some seasons have been a real beast finding that first RORG let alone another one to sacrifice and another to put in the cube 
They also didn't indicate whether there were other ways to get primal ashes other than salvaging primal items.

That and the challenge cash are big bummers. But the good thing is that you can unlock a ton of godly stuff before then. One of the biggest ones is available with just the second point (removing level requirements for all gear). And there are some really nice quality of life nodes not much further down the tree: %25 movement speed, and become passable (unobstructed by enemies, holds and walls)
Lots of people are talking about them needing to change the new natalyas because it ends up being another spin to win set. But I hope they don't change it too much because I really enjoyed using rapid fire with the piercing rune with it. It is a set I've never much cared for that they've made fun changes too that I hope they don't ruin again.

I'm up to the RoRG sacrifice on the Altar. Sure there is some nice stuff to be unlocked. But I don't have a lot of urgency to do it. Especially since I typically struggle with Challenge Rifts. So I may be stuck with less that 15 nodes unlocked.
I was really looking forward to playing a new Natalya's DH before Blizzard paid too much attention to uber streamers and mangled it. I like those guys but their opinions are not the end all. Yeah, serpent sparker has to be one of the items I have seen the least in the season. Got 1 relatively early, and then... none.

Overall, I like the more goal oriented progression the Altar has added. The moment I have to run two GRifts in a row in D3 I usually get incredibly bored and stop playing. The Altar prolonged the enjoyment for longer than anything has done for me in D3 in many years.

I totally agree. Although I can run about 5-10 GRs before getting bored. Nephalem rifts on the other hand... Well if I am not finishing them in 5 minutes or less, they are such a chore. The only thing Nephalems do better than GRs is that gold drops (for t he gold to armor legendary) so I don't have to wait to get a Halo to do T10+
Once I get one or 2 classes to rip through T16, I lose interest quickly.
Ugh I am so sad they botched the Natalya's changes this season. The fix was so much easier than the rework they did! It was so much fun using piercing rapid fire to spread explody trap goodnesss. But no everyone said it was another spin to win, so its gone.
I'm also enjoying this season. Went with a Necro, which I kinda regret now. I feel like I'd have a much faster farming character if I'd used the Headrig's gift on a DH or Wiz.

Have you crafted a guardians set yet? (the 3 piece bonus doubles your main stat and supporting stats)
You can use the RoRG with it to get the 3 bonus with 2 pieces. It doubled my damage to 2 million from 1.1 million. And it tripled my toughness from 34 million to over 111 million.

Spent a big part of my bloodshards on rings, but have also gotten multiple as drops.
Primals are still going slow. Got one more today. From Kadela even. 2 more to go for the Altar. Would be nice to get enough to upgrade a weapon too though. I still haven't seen an ancient weapon I could use.

I'm using the Aughild's Authority set currently. Might look into Guardians.

Still haven't found a serpent sparker. But I did get some gwjer help on the liquid rainbow. And I got a second RoRG so I can knock out that altar sacrifice. Oh I got a second unity so free 50% damage reduction, yes please!
I had a shit time getting my first death breath but other than that, RNG this season has been kind to me. Also I mentioned last night that I am loving the rapid paragon ranks this season. (in no small part to the altar bonuses)
