I was a bit hesitant at first (being a big OG Harvey fan), but it really finds its pace quickly.

Yeah I loved Birdgirl on the original Harvey Birdman but this show DEFINITELY finds its own footing very quickly indeed.

It was pretty good - the juvenile humour and "adult stuff for the sake of proving it's an adult animation" prompted a fair number of eyerolls though. (Especially since a lot of it was new to the series and not in the original campaign which means they just addeded to the cartoon to be 'edgy')

Why has this been such a consistent issue with adult animation in the west? Like, Harley Quinn and The Lower Decks both got much, much better with time, but both have terrible cases of "6th-grader who thinks he's being edgy"-itis sometimes (moreso in HQ's case, who was clearly SO thrilled they could say "f*ck").

Currently watching Transformers: Super God Masterforce. I never heard of it until I looked up where some toys came from. I guess the creators wanted to make the series more Japanese. So the transformers can now change into humans or other living things. The autobots made the choice to change into humans. The decepticons made the choice to change into giant demonic monsters. Now these human and demonic forms are not robotic transformations. They are living breathing humans and monsters that can eat and die. This is more like a ultraman transformation. When they change back to bot form they are normal transformers that change into cars and planes and stuff.

On episode four a twist was introduced. The autobots gave human kids special suits that lets them change into the heads of transforming cars and trucks. So they are headmasters like Spike was for Arcee way back in late G1.

The decepticons decide to copy the autobots and recruit their own kids to become headmasters.

So show is weird and terrible but I like it. The show has a 80s Japanese style to it. Oh it was made in the 80s so that is to be expected. Back then people were always giving kids giant robots of mass destruction. Well they still do that now so nothing has changed.

Paws of Fury is pretty good. A bad old putty cat tricks the under dog into defending a town. However, there is no need to fear under dog is here. A classic tale of someone rising up and becoming a hero. Maybe not as good as kung fu panda but still pretty.

Animation is okay. Jokes come in fast and furrious. Lots of jokes only adults will get. Kids will be entertain with the toilet humor. Someone stop me. I would give it seven samurai but the puns must stop somewhere so I'm giving 8 samurai. Also there is a Afro Samurai connection.

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the movie goes in running without explaining anything. I don't think people that didn't watch the cartoon will like this movie. The movie is just going to be confusing nonsense. The series is pretty good so I say give that a go before diving into this. If you don't like the series I don't see you liking the movie. Maybe if you can get past not knowing why the turtles have crazy powers you might like it.

Ice Bear rules.

Well, that's just crushingly dismaying.

Watched Batman and Superman Battle of the Super Sons and thought it was okay. This was toned down from the recent other movies. This is more aimed at kids. So I gave up trying to make sense of the movie in regards to kids being able to take down the combined force of superman, martian manhunter, batman, and the teen titans. The story itself is basic. Starro returns and does what Starro always does. The super sons are the only ones left to save the day.

I didn't dig the a cgi animation but didn't hate it ether. There was a bunch of fun dialogue. Damian Wayne being a major A hole paired with farm boy Kent was fun.

Watched the latest season of Rick and Morty. Really weak episode to end the season on but over all a good season. Space Beth was in a few episode. They did a Die Hard. Had a callback to the Roy game. Dinosaurs came back to visit. Incest all over the place, gross.

Could have used a few more episodes.

I was shocked the dinosaur episode was the season finale. It seemed so abrupt.

It wasn’t the finale, just the mid-season break they’ve been doing for a couple seasons now. The other half of the season resumes in mid-November.

I just watched all of Primal on HBO Max. Good (but violent) show.

I'm not the biggest fan of Star Trek Lower Decks but I liked season 3 the best so far. I think my favorite episode was the return of Peanut Hamper episode. I kind of wish they went in a different direction with her but her situation at the end was funny.

Watched Mortal Kombat Legends Snow Blind which was a lot better than I thought it would be. This takes place in a mad max type future where Kano rules the world. We get a few new characters and a few new to animation character from the games. And we get some older versions of old characters.

Mortal Kombat so you know the death toll is going to be high and it is high. Funny I don't think we got a FATALITY voice over. However, they know their audience. You get some other catch phrases. The animation wasn't the best but good enough. The story was pretty good but might not make sense if ignored the story in MK 11. So the things that seem to be out of nowhere are from the video games. This basically what we get if Kano ended up winning MK 11.

I give this 8 friendships out of 10. FRIENDSHIP!

Watched Transformers Earthspark which was okay. The cartoon is aimed at younger kids. The bad guy is a human. Megatron is a good guy. The main story is centered on two new Earth transformers that are emotionally linked to kids.

The animation is really good. Mostly 3d but the explosions are in 2d. I liked most of the robot designs. Megatron is a helicopter which looks pretty cool. Soundwave is stealth bomber but still has the cassettes gimmick. Ravage, Frenzy, and Laserbeak are cassettes. Frenzy I think is female now or maybe non binary. They two seekers who were both females but I think one was new and Skywarp was female in the last cartoon.

One Earth Bot is a drone and the other is motor bike with a sidecar. I don't really like the design of either. All the other bots have a good look to them. Bumble is some kind of sports car. Prime is still a truck with trailer but not the boxy design. Arcee has a nice new classic 50 style car design. She is only in one episode though.

I like the parents more than the children. However, the kids serve their purpose as a kid connection. Pretty much the same in most transformers series even the more serious ones. Interestingly they have a lot of guns for age range they are going for. I would have thought it would be more like rescue bots where I don't think any of them use a gun.

Not a must watch but if you want to watch just one episode watch the last episode which is rather good.

At this point I can't tell if returning to that well is some sort of inside joke the writers have with themselves, or tapping into some internet meme-dom I'm not familiar with.

When Space Beth asked about Naruto I had legit forgotten that was what they named the Morty/Summer baby and had to lookup if the anime had some sort of recent resurgence on Google.

But yeah, I also thought this season's episodes were overall solid with the low point being the dinosaur one, which was maybe trying to lampoon liberal savior complexes? I don't think it landed/achieved that, if so.

Watched all of Primal. The entire series was great except for two episodes, the final and the episode they went forward in time. The forward in time episode was just pointless, it didn't fit with the other episodes. The final had a fire guy in it that made no sense. The problem with the fire guy was they didn't explain why he was sent after primal dude. I don't think primal dude even knew who the F fire dude was. Also don't know how I feel about death by snu snu. Great series mostly. The action and violence was on point. The said a lot using silence. The brutal world building was great.

Started Harley Quinn Season 3. The first episode was good. The second one wasn't very good. The second episode didn't have focus. They should have dropped the Bane B plot. The first episode was all Harley and Ivy going on a F, Bang, Kill tour to celebrate getting married. Entire episode was fun and perverted.

I was underwhelmed by HQ S3 after loving the first two. Lots of great moments, but I think they ran into the antihero problem, see Book of Boba. No real idea where they really want to go with all of this.

Hey Arnold. I know it’s on Paramount but I have been trying the library to watch. It’s in bits an pieces and the discs are scratched bad. I don’t have to watch it all but most are unplayable. Grr.

Adult Swim just announced that they’re firing Justin Roiland, but that Rick & Morty will continue without him. Not certain how that will work out since he voices like 60% of the characters, but I’m still glad that Adult Swim did the right thing.

All Jerry baby!

I actually would be good with an all Beth spinoff.

I know that Harmon does a good enough Rick that he’s done ADR when Roiland wasn’t available, but it’s not like Roiland was a particularly skilled voice actor so I’m sure they can find people to seamlessly take over roles.

Or you get this:

I bet they could just use a soundboard for Morty anyway.

I'm in no position to say one thing caused the other thing, but it is interesting to me that what's been regarded as one of the most toxic fanbases in cartoon franchises was drawn to the one created by someone who faces these kinds of criminal charges.

Yeah, I'm glad a bunch of people didn't lose their jobs, but I too was like "This is like trying to continue Nathan For You, but without Natan Fielder."

Earlier in the week there was a former coworker of Roiland on twitter saying that after internal investigations due to his behavior, Roiland’s role had basically been reduced to voice actor on Rick & Morty and he hasn’t been involved in writing or production on the show since the first couple seasons, so if they can find some voice actors that sound even vaguely similar I don’t think the show is going to change much.

Apparently Roiland has been an issue for a while now, so it’s definitely troubling that AS waited until now to do anything about it, especially considering they signed that huge contract AFTER they had already had to deal with him.
