NCAA Basketball 2022-2023 Catch-all

So Texas A&M left their uniforms at the hotel before their game at FL. Delaying the start of the game while somebody went to get them. Assessed a tech, etc.

Some poor manager is having a bad night.

NCSU absolutely clobbered Duke tonight. The wolfpack was up 13-0 and never looked back.

Now we'll see what version of UNC shows up.

UNC gets the win. Caleb Love still struggling, but other folks stepped up. This was probably a must win game, considering last week's loss to Pitt.

And Texas fires Chris Beard. Good riddance.

As bad as Cal's start to the basketball season was... looks like Kevin McCarthy about to tie or pass us soon!

Lol he did it...

Cal 12 losses to start the season...

Kevin McCarthy 13 losses... now officially the worst start for a Californian!

Take that Gamec*cks. Tennessee more than doubled their score, 85-42.

Doesn't make up for football, but it's a start

(The board censoring Gamec*cks still cracks me up.)

Cards came out flat. Down 25. Cut it to 3 with 2 minutes left, but lost by 8 or 9. Whatever.

If only they could play hard for 40 minutes... maybe...

We've covered the spread 4 times in a row but I believe that's only because Vegas finally figured out how bad we are. The first 9 games was free money if you were paying attention.

Glad to see the Tarheels play relatively competitive basketball for 2 halves today. Solid bench play also a positive. I'll take the win, especially considering the tough game coming up at UVA this week.

As for the flagrant 2 player ejecting foul ... I actually am not sure it was an intentional kick at Puff's head, but the refs definitely missed the foul on the basket itself. I wish the officiating would develop some consistency. Physical play is ignored until it isn't.

Cal not only beat stanfurd, but wiped the floor with them scoring 92 points and winning 92-70...Cal is one of the worst offensive teams in the country, so this is shocking.

Here we go... Look out Cal is 2-2 in conference and tied for 7th. Conference of Champions indeed.

Conference play is a new season. Despite the worse start you might be better than Louisville

S Carolina, off a 40 point loss, walks into Rupp and beats UK as 19 point underdogs. Led wire to wire. Hahaha

UNC loses Armando Bacot a minute into the game, managed to play 35 minutes of ok basketball, but just completely falls apart in the last 90 seconds. Love hits 2 critical 3s, but the team doesn't seem to know who is supposed to be where. Blargh.

God I hate playing UVA at UVA.

After Tennessee doubled up South Carolina and beat them by 43 points in Columbia, South Carolina goes into Rupp and beat UK.

Tennessee goes home and gets challenged by Vandy. Now UK comes to Knoxville. Who knows what happens.

My Vols upset by UK in Knoxville. Oops. Doesn't help when you miss a bunch of layups in a close game.

One of my UK fan friends put $100 on UT at -10. So... I guess he's happy? Bought a win. Haha.

UNC gets an ugly home win against a scrappy BC team.

K State knocks off Kansas in OT! Exciting game that came down to the final plays.

Louisville still sucks. Not much else to say. Started the game with a lead, played well until 14-10. Then gave up a 19-2 run and it was never close again. Lost at home to Pitt by 21.

14 ranked teams on the road today. 4 losses already with a few more to play tonight. #2 Kansas surprisingly lost at home though, by 23!

UNC wins at home, with Bacot becoming the school's all time rebound and double double leader.

In less good news, Terquavion Smith took a massive shot to the face and literally bounced off the floor. Play stopped, training staff and EMTs had to come to the court. He was eventually taken off the floor on a stretcher. Something about a neck and elbow injury. Ugly. I hope he's ok.

2 weeks since our improbable victory over stanfurd.. Cal has once again found new lows losing at home to Oregon State by 20...

Cal is terrible.. why is this news?? Oregon State is the only team that was picked by the Pac-12 media to be worse than Cal... this was (and will be) the only conference game we were favored in... Cal -3.5! We lost by 20...

Oregon State hasn't won a road game in nearly 2 years... March 2021(yes during March Madness).

This is not a new coach... not a new system... all we have to show for it is excuses.

Duke drops one to VT, and Kansas loses a 3rd game to a ranked team on the road (@Baylor).

Another strange event in the Duke game, VT player makes a shot with ~13 seconds remaining to take a 2 pt lead. In his celebration, he essentially punches Ryan Filipowski in the throat. It wasn't intentional, he didn't even realize the dude was there (fist pump in the air, Filipowski is behind him on his left, catches the fist in the throat).

The refs reviewed it, but assessed nothing. Kinda surprising, I expected contact above the shoulders to be heavily scrutinized (even if inadvertent). In a strict reading of the rules, that should be an F1. I was shocked Duke's coach wasn't going ballistic at the no-call.

Yeah I was watching. Coach K would have got FTs and the ball probably won the game

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. Scheyer seemed tentative around that whole thing. And then in the post-game conference he was talking about Ryan apparently throwing up in the huddle. Dude! That can't be a no-call. You should be fighting for your players!

And you know I'm no Duke fan!

What I'm hearing is that the Pac-12 needs Fresno in basketball too.

Gah, UNC escapes with one on the road @Syracuse. Ugly, hard-fought game... Not even going to weigh in about the officiating. No idea how RJ is, but they carted him off in the final seconds after taking a shot to the face. Without that foul being upgraded to an F1, I have no idea how the game ends.

To be fair, Vandy's gym where they players sit on the end lines is weird.

Cal got a warning and technical last game at Rupp. He's had this problem for years and it doesn't matter what gym.

There was a game back around 2012 or so where he was on the court yelling at his player after a possession, and the other team PG was dribbling up the court near UK bench. He had to stop and dribble around Cal. I always said he should have ran right into him and forced the refs to call the technical foul.

Every coach that plays UK could employ that strategy for free points every game or until Cal keeps his ass off the floor

#2 Alabama barely holds off Mississippi State at home on a poor shooting night for Alabama. Wish they'd saved that poor shooting for the game in Knoxville that's coming up.

#15 Auburn upset by Texas A&M.

My Vols roll UGA. Even not shooting well, beat them by nearly 30. Don't know how many teams we've held to less than 50 this year, but UGA only had 41.
