NFL 2022: The Week 18 thread

It's absolutely possible Darnold is the best starter in the NFC South next year. It could be Andy Dalton, Desmond Ridder, Kyle Trask, and Darnold.

I think we can safely cross Trask off the list.

The Bucs sat down Brady and instead of giving those reps to Trask, they put in Gabbert.

Seems to signal that Trask isn't the plan for next year. They'll be QB shopping this offseason.

The Ravens revealing a bold new strategy.

You can’t blow a double digit lead if you don’t have one.

Hey, Tampa finally made it all the way down the depth chart to Trask.

Maybe he has hope yet!

Flacco out here drawing PI flags like he's elite

Is Lovie coaching to keep his job or to get fired.

Not sure if #1 to #2 matters in this draft even tbh.

Bring back "No, Nooooo! A quarterback?!" guy for the draft, Bears.

Dolphins!

Indianapolis losing a final week game to an underdog division rival.

The annual tradition continues.

Chicago's not taking a QB at #1, so unless they trade the pick away, Houston should still get their pick of the QB crop at #2.

And I'm not sure anyone in this QB class is trade-up-to-#1 caliber.

Underrated aspect of Dolphins game: the random safety at the end caused the Dolphins to cover the point spread too.

Listen, scoring on a 4th and 20 and then going for 2 to screw up your #1 draft slot is a quality way for Lovie Smith to go out.

Legion, I need a breakdown of how AJ Green scores a 75 yard TD.

Chucked up into double coverage and we blew it. 2 broken tackles. Just awful defensive play.

Tanking so we can play the Giants.

But if Rodgers wins tonight we want the 2 seed for guaranteed win right?

Gotta feel good about the Jags matchup in the first round. That’s a winnable game.

You mean the Lions right?

Definitely winnable. They went on the road and beat those same Chargers earlier this year, 38-10.

Qaron 0-4 lifetime vs 49ers in playoffs. Might as well make it 0-5.

I guess Dallas didn't have any game film on Sam Howell?

If Kliff wasn't already getting fired, this game is gonna finish him off.

I saw rumors that the Cards might give the job to Vance Joseph.

Fun fact: earlier in the year, the three wildcard AFC teams have beaten the division winner they're going to visit next week. Two of them have an injured QB, though.

Yiiiikes... where's Myles Garret's helmet when you need it?

Yeah, but I'm not thrilled with the idea of the Packers coming in with nothing to lose. The Niners knocking them off when they thought they were going places is one thing, but they'll be rolling into these playoffs with house money.

Counter-point:

NFL Research wrote:

Brock Purdy has thrown multiple pass TD in 6 straight games, joining Justin Herbert (7 straight in 2020) as the only rookies with a streak of 6+ such games in NFL history

Bill Barnwell on Twitter: The Panthers just won a game where Sam Darnold went 5-of-15 for 43 yards with two interceptions and a fumble on the half-yard line.

Also, Darnold had a QB rating of 2.8, and the Panthers scored for the second time this season on a Darnold fumble on the goal line. (Darnold recovered the first one; a backup O-lineman recovered the one today.)

Here's an early look at Darnold as Carolina's bridge QB in 2023:

Packers are chaos right now while Rodgers has been meh. No team should want to play them.

They are good for one upset in playoffs if they make it that far then retuning to an average team.

Go Rams though. I want the Lions to have something to play for.

For sure nobody wants the Seachickens to win
