The 212lb class round was last night and Shaun Clarida won. That dude is a walking battery of muscle. Just insane.

It's interesting, in a really sad and frustrating and hopeless way, to note that almost every man who commits sex crimes and/or intimate partner violence can be found saying (and probably believing) these exact sorts of things. "Rape is the ultimate crime and should be punishable by death," "No mercy for any man who puts his hands on a woman," etc. I've found that I can (as a gross generalization) pretty accurately project which men I want to warn every woman I know about based on the boilerplate language they use to condemn men's violence against women. It's entirely received wisdom, not something they've ever contemplated in a serious fashion. How do these heinous acts happen? What must be broken in a man to commit them? What stories does he tell himself to justify them? These are not questions that interest the Dana Whites of our world. They simply remember that raping (meaning, specifically and solely, a weird guy in a hoodie jumping out of a bush with a chloroform rag) and domestic abusing (meaning, specifically and solely, a guy coming home drunk and hitting his wife because dinner was cold) are Bad Things that are unforgivable, because that's what they were told.If you asked Dana White, in that moment (or in any of the other moments he has definitely assaulted his wife), how he squared what he had just done with what he professed to believe about "putting hands on a woman," and he were flustered enough to answer honestly, he would say "Yeah but she was being a total Female Doggo so this isn't like that! This is different!" In his heart of hearts, he doesn't think he did a Domestic Violence because that's something that only poors wearing undershirts and living in trailer parks do, and because that's a Bad Evil Thing and he is not a Bad Evil Guy.
We can't get anywhere in this society, we can't fix anything, because our institutions and major cultural organs only know how to talk about things as if they were cartoons. So you end up with a majority of the population acting like bulls who are genuinely unaware that they are the reason all the china in the shop keeps breaking. It must be some other bull, because I would never do a Bad Evil Thing.
I feel like I need to post about this. The first time the USA has won a game at the handball world championship. However, the team ended up loosing badly the next two games (by 18 and 19 points), but it doesn't matter because they ended upmaking it to the second round.

LIV Golf League lawyers say 2022 revenue was 'virtually zero'
As the LIV Golf League prepares to start its second season in Mexico later this month, the circuit being financed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund is generating virtually no revenue, according to federal court documents.
The LIV Golf League's attorneys made that admission in a motion filed with the U.S. District Court for Northern California on Monday. LIV Golf asked U.S. District Court Judge Beth Labson Freeman to deny the PGA Tour's motion for leave to add the Public Investment Fund and its governor, Yasir Al-Rumayyan, as plaintiffs in the tour's countersuit against LIV Golf, in which it alleges LIV Golf interfered with its contract with players.
On Monday, the PGA Tour's attorneys requested a conference hearing with Freeman to discuss whether discovery deadlines and the January 2024 trial date should be pushed back because the Public Investment Fund and Al-Rumayyan have allegedly failed to comply with discovery and depositions.
Freeman has scheduled a Feb. 24 case management conference to hear the sides' arguments.
"The Tour's motion to amend should be denied because the amendment would be futile, would cause unfair prejudice, was unduly delayed, and is obviously intended to inappropriately delay the case and resolution of Plaintiffs' antitrust claims," LIV Golf's attorneys wrote in Monday's motion.
"Delay will equally harm LIV because the Tour continues its anticompetitive conduct while the litigation is pending. The Tour has damaged LIV's brand, driven up its costs by hundreds of millions of dollars, and driven down revenues to virtually zero."
Former LIV Golf president and COO Atul Khosla told ESPN in October that the Public Investment Fund spent about $784 million bankrolling the circuit's first season in 2022, including employee salaries, build-outs at tournaments and production costs for broadcasting LIV events on social media and its official website.

Saw someone mention this before, but the pundits on Paul-Fury apparently REALLY clearly hated the fact that their entire industry has been taken over by the circus of YouTube boxing.

Our baseball season is off to a shit start. We had such an amazing first year under Schlossnagle, great run in the CWS... But haven't put it all together yet this season.
Oh well, we're a basketball school!

Don't get me wrong, I think the prop stuff is silly, and didn't like it when it was a thing with softball for years on TV in the dugouts. But kids seem to like it and it gets TV views. Might even help recruiting. Don't know.

WWE is in talks with state gambling regulators in Colorado and Michigan to legalize betting on high-profile matches, according to people familiar with the matter.
WWE is working with the accounting firm EY to secure scripted match results in hopes it will convince regulators there’s no chance of results leaking to the public, said the people, who asked not to be named because the discussions are private. Accounting firms PwC and EY, also known as Ernst & Young, have historically worked with award shows, including the Academy Awards and the Emmys, to keep results a secret.
Betting on the Academy Awards is already legal and available through some sports betting applications, including market leaders FanDuel and DraftKings, although most states don’t allow it. WWE executives have cited Oscars betting as a template to convince regulators gambling on scripted matches is safe, the people said.
Still, while Academy Awards voting results are known by a select few before they’re announced publicly, they aren’t scripted by writers. Even if regulators allow gambling, betting companies would have to decide if they’re willing to place odds on WWE matches even if it’s legalized. Those discussions have yet to occur at betting firms, according to people familiar with the matter.
A WWE spokesperson declined to comment. A spokesperson for EY couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
