I have seen so many pictures from banff that I think it might have to be the next family vacation site.

Can confirm. It is that pretty in person. It also goes by very fast if you are speeding down that highway and aren’t looking for it. If you drive between Alberta and BC you can visit Banff and Lake Louise (you’ve posted that previously). My family has driven that path many times and always enjoy the view. Unfortunately we never stop for long as we’re always in a rush to get to somewhere else.

Oh boy, Dewey remember it!

Spoiler:

I also remember it being very biased in favor of white, western, European, Christian cultures and that the inventor, Dewey, was considered to be pretty damn racist even for his day.

Geoff Peterson??

Also, I love the Ahsoka / clone troopers poster in the background.

I think I posted this last year. It will become my Christmas tradition.

Somewhat related, someone posted the results of them accidentally selecting the wrong photo for their family's custom Christmas cards.

I'd seen that before, but only just now noticed the family name...

Or it’s an AI generated image and the AI interpreted “Xmas family photo of the Whites” incorrectly by equating “the whites” as “teeth” (pearly whites).

When I saw it on Twitter the poster said an app pulled the wrong photo from their photo roll. It's unclear if it was an automated choice, a bug in the selector, or fat fingers.

It's a little odd, a video Josh Robert Thompson posted 11 years ago, where he made Craig Ferguson cry with laughter, recently went viral. He streamed a video where he told the story of how he went from cable-access TV to doing an occasional skit on Ferguson's show, to prerecordng Geoff's lines, then doing him live once a week. Making Ferguson laugh so hard sealed the deal for a full-time job.

Here's what I'd like to see, adjusted for inflation $/minute of the cost of going to see a new movie over those years.

That would be neat. I wonder if we are actually getting more movie for each dollar in admission since the films are getting longer or if prices have kept up.

I found this with a quick google search

Cost of a Movie Ticket the Year You Were Born

So for me

1971
> Avg. ticket price: $1.65
> Price adjusted for inflation: $10.16
> Top-grossing movie of the year: Billy Jack

1. what the hell was Billy Jack? Never heard of it!
2. It looks like the average time in 1971 was about 100 minutes

So yes I think they are a better value now. I just paid 9.50 for a matinee of Avatar 2 which was 180 minutes (roughly).

Temps have been -30C and lower all week in these neck of the woods but winter is so damn beautiful. Bow Lake, Alberta.

Billy Jack is awesome!

Yeah, looks like minus a dip or spike here and there the average price, adjusted, seems to be fairly stable. So yeah, I guess we are getting more movie per dollar.

Spoiler:

Our investigation into whining-based remedies became the first study to be halted by the IRB on the grounds that the treatment group was 'too annoying.'

This could really simplify the whole "are you interested tonight" communication for couples.

I recognize far too many of those.
