Recommend me a (non-gaming) podcast

Cautionary Tales, No Such Thing As A Fish, and UnderUnderstood are my current faves. All of them are fantastic.

Just by the titles I think that's exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks. I'll check them out.

Update:
I’m really enjoying Underunderstood. I’ve listened to 3 episodes so far, it’s a new favorite and I’m sure I’ll listen to all of the episodes.

No Such Thing As a Fish was funny, but seemed a bit too random- at least from the one episode I checked out. I’ll give it couple more tries to see if it really grabs me.

I want to like Cautionary Tales more, but the delivery sounded like someone reading an audio book and it quickly became background noise and I retained little of the episode I tried out. I prefer my podcasts to be more conversational in tone. Somehow I can work on other stuff and still follow along better that way. Still it seems to have a number of episodes I’d be interested in, so I may give it another chance sometime.

Glad one of them worked out. I found UnderUnderstood after ReplyAll fell apart and is a good replacement for it. The Cap’n Crunch episode is great.

No Such Thing As A Fish is indeed pretty random. It’s just three or four strange facts from the creators of the Qi show. It started out a bit rough at first but it grew on me. It’s been a good working in my back yard listen this summer.

I also should’ve mentioned that Cautionary Tales is voice acted and sometimes misses the mark a bit. I like that it often tells stories from history that I didn’t know about.

No worries. I listened to the Mary Shelley episode which I know a bit about and found the detour when they started talking about some of the inventions that happened because of ’the year without a summer’ pretty interesting. Just found the scripted delivery hard to get past.

It’s not the first time this happened. I follow Dana Schwartz on twitter and enjoyed her when she was a guest on You’re Wrong About, but her podcast, Noble Blood, wasn’t for me for the same reason- even though I know I’d find a lot the content interesting.

Time to check if you're still subscribed to Serial because Adnan Syed's murder conviction was just vacated. Apparently a new episode of the podcast will be out tomorrow.

Syed was released from prison and put on home detention while prosecutors figure out what they're going to do. Apparently newly discovered evidence revealed that two other suspects could have been involved in Hae Min Lee's death.

That’s bananas. I never thought he would be released.

Jello Biafra started a podcast last month called Jello Biafra’s Renegade Roundtable. Three episodes out so far with guests like Al Jourgenson from Ministry, journalist Greg Palast, and psychobilly rocker Mojo Nixon. Each episode is about 60% reminiscing about the punk scene in the 80’s and obscure musicians and 40% talking about progressive politics. It’s pretty entertaining if you are my exact demographic.

This week Tom Cruise and Bryan Brown are mixing the perfect... COCKTAIL

Cocktail is a movie about a brash young man becomes an apprentice to a cynical barman.

I found it hard to watch, as George Bailey is constantly having to give of himself to make other people happy. I think I might be a bit unusual in that respect.
