Cyberpunk Catch-All

And they've already confirmed the obvious, that there will be a sequel, right?

Yup. They announced 5 games with one of them being the Cyberpunk sequel. The other ones being the next Witcher game, a Witcher 1 remake, their first original IP, and a co-development Witcher game.

All moving to Unreal Engine as well. So this expansion being the last significant content update definitely possible.

They've said this is the only expansion coming out for the game.

I mean... the opening line of that trailer, right?

Sure, but if you look at the long tail on Witcher 3, which is about to get new content inspired by the show...

I had hopes they'd keep developing/adding to it if the expansion did well. With the whole studio basically moving to Unreal, that doesn't seem as likely in terms of them dedicating any huge amount of time or energy to Red Engine.

Who knows, maybe they'll remaster it in Unreal or something. Could be worse ways to get your team up to speed.

I only wanted to change one thing and now I'm down the rabbit hole of modding the hell out of this game.

Sigh.

It's like Morrowind all over again.

Here's the new Phantom Liberty Trailer. It doesn't look like an actual sequel, more like DLC to expand the main story, and possibly add a new zone, vehicular combat, new tech/cyberware, more fixers and missions, more romance content, and a potential new ending that

is more optimistic than that inevitable death sentence in your brain.

Is it stand alone or do I need to dig around to see if I still have the PS4 disks (which I will then have to update to the PS5 version, etc)?

I think it’s finally time I play this game. Sounds like the patch is going to radically improve the main game.

This is where I am with this game as well, but there are so many other games out at the moment I have no idea where the time is to fit it in.

I finished the main game months ago and really enjoyed it. No crashes, just some oddities.

Like many CDPR games, it was released prematurely and needed a lot of fixes and changes. also like many CDPR games, they did in fact do that. so, mixed results with a good end state?
I'll try the patch and if it seems like a good refresh maybe i'll grab the DLC. If they don't include the changes in the base version then I'm out. that seems unlikely though.

The reporting on it seems to generally agree that the changes are happening in the base game.

I’m rewatching Cyberpunk: Edgerunners as I type.

I finished it when it first came out and really liked it but didn't love it. I thought it was a messterpiece. This is before all the major patches and fixes. Before you could even get a haircut or save a clothing style.

I did like it enough to eventually come back to another run through. I'm wondering though is this an expansion that I can play now that I finished the original campaign, or do I have to start from scratch?

I finished my first runthrough "early". It released in Dec 2020, and the last save that I have from that runthrough is from 3 July 2021 (version 1.23). I really enjoyed that runthrough despite a few quirks of the game.

I decided to start a second runthrough in anticipation of the DLC. When I loaded up my old save game a couple of months back, everything had changed so much that my inventory was borked and all my perks had been reset. I was greeted with an avalanche of messages from fixers offering me houses and whatever else was added to the game after 1.23.

So, I decided that it would better to start a new game. I may have done it prematurely, though, since I'm at the point where I am tidying up all the various plot lines and almost at the point-of-no-return. I'll have to find something else to do until I am hit by Starfield and Phantom Liberty.

I think "messterpiece" is fair. I describe it as a 7/10 game that I still enjoy and replay and sunk more time into than many 9 or 10 out of 10 games.

Maybe it's an 8/10 now but... I don't think I can ever divorce it from how truly bad of a release it was.

I finished my first playthrough around 1.23 too, I think, because I was on Xbox One X and that's the first patch where you could reasonably play without crashing every 15 minutes (you stilled crashed, but infrequently enough the game was manageable).

Then I've checked back in after every big patch, and have liked the changes. Minus not letting us wear Johnny's arm without a mod.

I think the relatively pessimistic endings fit the story and world, personally. It's not an optimistic universe, and the hope/optimism is "the friends you made along the way".

Spoiler:

But if they want to do a sequel, something more optimistic is kinda needed if they want to stick with V, haha. They could easily just start a new character though, and have V be a "Legend", and that would probably make more sense from a gameplay point of view.

Yeah, I described it as a solid 7.5/10 game with 10/10 vibes, cos the one thing it nails (and the one thing CDPR are really amazing) at is world vibes - see also: The Witcher

This space reserved for mandatory Keanu interview about the expansion:

They are doing it again with the really interesting looking video. So will it be worth it this time?

Cyberpunk 2077 Has Clawed Its Way To "Very Positive" Steam Reviews After Rocky Launch

Cyberpunk 2077 reviews on Steam have finally reached a "Very Positive" rating after almost three years since its rocky launch.

CD Projekt community director Marcin Momot took to Twitter after players noticed the new achievement to share the news, saying, "Cyberpunk 2077 Steam reviews are now sitting at 'Very Positive' with 80% of all scores being favourable. Thank you all for acknowledging all the hard work the team has put in over the years since the release!"

As PC Gamer put it, I'm probably gonna end up playing Cyberpunk 2077 all over again.

Desperately hoping I'll be done with Pathfinder and BG3 by... January-ish?

I already did that in anticipation of Phantom Liberty. I guess I started a bit early as I think I've got one Kerry mission left before hitting the point of no return. I'm not sure if I'll have to start another game, or whether I can/should continue from where I am.

I’m contemplating finally playing this. Seems like it’s going to be more what I imagined the game would be initially.

I figure I'll boot my old save and see how much I like the changes and then, if i do I'll pull the trigger on PL.

Still looks amazing. Can't wait.

If you're that deep, the most rewarding playthrough would probably be to start again, unfortunately.

I'm not sure how unfortunate that really is.

Hugely belated, but I've been thinking this for a while now.

I still have no idea if Keanu did a bad job as Johnny, or if he was just doing the best he could with truly awful dialogue. Like, dialogue so bad, I'm not sure if it was intentional, because that would make it fantastic satire.

Conversely, Cherami Leigh did the best job of VA I've heard in a game since Arthur Morgan in portraying FemV.
