Warhammer 40k: Darktide! Vermintide in spaaaace!

Was there a big update or is Gamepass just making me reload the game?

Big update. They said it wasn't actually any big changes, but was necessary for later updates.

Noticed a bunch of crash bug fixes. Crashes were down to only 3 last night in about 4 hours. Huzzah?

That said, the fact I'm still playing this much indicates how much fun I'm having when it works. I bopped the visuals back up to Medium and it ran fine. There's a specific map that seems to cause me the most issues but it doesn't come up often.

I'm trying to enjoy this game but it keeps crashing on me mid-mission. I have a pretty high end laptop that has no problem running anything but this game. It's really frustrating.

But when it works it's sooooo good...

Make sure you're on the latest video drivers that released in the past week for both AMD and Nivida. It has eliminated crashing for two people I play with regularly. I haven't had a crash since beta but I seem to be the lucky one.

Yup i got them. Also there's a new stability patch out on Steam. Hopefully that helps. Otherwise it's back to Vemintide 2, which is not the worst alternative...

BTW does anyone else have this problem where Darktide says you don't meet the minimal system requirements for graphics, because it can't find your graphics card? I have an RTX 3060 so that should certainly be sufficient to run it.

Got a Chain Axe on my Zealot and I really like it!

Nope, not a problem I'm having. Still having crash bugs though. Last night I crashed 3 straight times just trying to start the game before cold-booting fixed it for a while. I've had to reboot to stabilize this game more than any other game I've played in a long time.

I've been having far too much fun playing Ogryn. Me and two buddies ran 3 of them last night and I like to imagine the reaction of the randos who got matched with us

Is anyone else getting a Left4Dead vibe?

Patch today.

Do I want a Power Maul on my Ogryn? Absolutely.

I think work might settle down a bit starting next week for me to go get my PC repaired and buy this game. Is there a steam group or discord channel where people organize?

As usual, looking for people to play with starting about 8:30pm PT.

Things are getting better - I played my first whole session (2-3 hours) last night without a single crash. Performance seems markedly better than even the Nov 30 (release) version. I suspect this game is going to be chock full of new content within a few months and I'm fully onboard, especially for new subclasses.

Emmes: I'm Eastern time unfortunately and at least during the week we're usually calling it quits about that time. If we end up doing some later play on the weekends I'll look you up on Steam.

Just built a new PC, as near top of the line as I've ever had, excited to play, cranked every graphic setting up, dove in...

...played for a little over an hour and crashed 6 or 7 times. So disappointing.

Yea I crash a lot on load in this game.

it takes forever for the game to load into the hub from the title screen but I’ve only had it crash on me twice, and it was in the same zone in roughly the same area both times.

I must admit to a little schadenfreude when hearing stories of people with top-of-the-line machines crashing while, apparently, low-to-mid systems are just fine.

Finally hit Trust Level 30 with the Zealot a couple weeks ago. The shop has really come up empty lately in terms of good weapons and I haven't been putting in the time lately to get the contracts done. I do still want to try spicing things up on Heresy difficulty. However I've gotten the itch to level up my Veteran Sharpshooter now so excited to go through that grind again.

Game seems to play A LOT smoother since the latest patch.

My prior system was definitely lower end outside the 3080. Crashes have been of the same variety, no apparent pattern other than most of the time mid-mission.

Update: The game still crashes occasionally, but much more stable. No problem any more with the graphics card.

This game is so much fun and will be near the top of my GOTY list.

I love the game but holding off for now. Bought it on launch but I feel like another patch (or three) would make the game better. I believe this is how the Vermintide launch went but it's been awhile and I don't quite remember. However, I think that given a little more time, Darktide is going to be amazing and crash-free!

Got my first Bolter today.

Oh my God. The power. The POWER

Latest patch helps with crashing again but they acknowledge a lot more work needs to be done to fix all the crashing issues.

Some new content also came with it

This drop introduces a new map, two new weapons - one for the Zealot, one for the Ogryn, the new Refine option in the crafting menu, the inclusion of private games, and the addition of one new condition!
In Comms-Plex 154/2f, it is up to you and your strike team to gain access to the Comms-plex. Get to the roof of the HL-19-24 Archivum and transmit a message to your allies in the Imperium.
Two new weapons:
The Indignatus Mk IVe Crusher, a two-handed Power Maul for Zealots
The Achlys Mk I Power Maul, a one-handed Power Maul for Ogryns.
Private Play is now available when starting a mission from the mission board for Strike Teams of 2 to 4 players.
Refine is now available in the Shrine of the Omnissiah.
You can now choose to refine a single perk, which will lock other perks.
Perks in the item card view will show their Tier through the number of ♦ next to the perk ranging from 1 to 4.
Each Refine action taken on the perk will see a cost reduction for resources.
A new condition:
Hunting Grounds: Rejects will have to fend off increased numbers of Pox Hounds.

Is there a regular GWJ group that plays this game? I'm debating if I splurge a little more on the sale and get it.

Was actually able to complete all 5 Contracts this week. My major complaint is the "kill Scabs/Dregs" contracts, cause you have no idea which will spawn in a given mission, and inevitably you'll get the wrong one several times in a row...

We've got a Group Chat on steam for pickup games.

Here's our group chat. When someone wants to team up, they'll post there and we'll jump onto the GWJ discord

Playing a bunch of this. Added the group chat. You can friend me on steam as well.

Open letter from the devs yesterday:

We take enormous pride in our ability at Fatshark to deliver a game that millions can enjoy. This was what we set out to do with Warhammer 40,000: Darktide – to create a highly engaging and stable game with a level of depth that keeps you playing for weeks, not hours.

We fell short of meeting those expectations.

Over the next few months, our sole focus is to address the feedback that many of you have. In particular, we will focus on delivering a complete crafting system, a more rewarding progression loop, and continue to work on game stability and performance optimization.

This also means that we will delay our seasonal content rollout and the Xbox Series X|S launch. We will also suspend the upcoming releases of premium cosmetics. We just couldn’t continue down this path, knowing that we have not addressed many feedback areas in the game today.

Thank you for playing and providing feedback. We really appreciate it. It has and will continue to help shape the game we love.

CEO and Co-Founder of Fatshark

Friends and I took a break from this over the holidays and haven't been back, mostly due to playing other things. I will absolutely play this again, but with about 50 hours invested already I want to avoid burnout and be ready to dive back into this after it's had more time in the oven. I really hope they can get this comparable to V2 in the end.
