NFL 2022: The Week 12 thread

I'm very confused by the Pickett - Pickens tandem. Can't remember which one is which. If they draw a trick play where Pickens throws a TD pass to Pickett, my brain might explode.

462 sacks in 11 seasons has to add up bit by bit, so, even if they're not official injuries, that chip damage wears you down eventually.

One of his issues is not just that he's playing badly, it's that he's such an insufferable, unlikable douchebag while doing it. Matt Ryan has fallen off a cliff, but his teammates like him and nobody is yelling at him when things go wrong. It seems like most of the Broncos organization wants to throw Wilson off a mountain at this point, and I don't know how he manages to get the team on his side again.

Sacks are a QB stat.

And yes, his holier-than-thou fake "I'm a leader! See?" bs got overlooked when a) SEA won a lot and b) SEA doesn't look too close at stuff like this. He did the Big Trade thing and now he's getting scrutiny that NEVER gets placed on a Seattle athlete. Ever.

I've said it before, but Russ is that overly enthusiastic youth pastor at your rock band church in the suburbs.

Missed opportunity on Thanksgiving when my sister's girlfriend from Seattle shoved her phone in my face to introduce me to her mother to ask "Hey, is Russ that guy, Mom of my sister's girlfriend?"

He runs behind people with a flamethrower?

If his hand size makes him look like an 8-year-old, that's Pickett.

If his hand size makes him look like a 9-year-old, that's Pickens.

The Rams are worried that nobody's going to come to their Christmas Day game:

The Rams fear a largely empty stadium for the game that will be televised by CBS. To minimize the number of vacant seats on Christmas Day, the Rams are trying to get season-ticket holders who would stay home to give the tickets to someone who would happily go.

Won a Super Bowl and still have no fans.

Like a slow-motion rusty Vespa that still somehow gets a first down?

If nothing else happens this season, Zach Wilson's probably done as a Jet.

He's speedrunning the Carson Wentz career path.

Who was also a #2 overall pick drafted by a green team. We should have seen it coming.

Last name starts with "w" as well, hmm...

Zach Wilson: your 2023 Carolina Panthers Starting QB!!!

Mayfield, Wilson, Darnold . . . with a QB room consisting of a #1, #2, and #3 overall pick, they'd obviously be unstoppable.

True, but Zach better hurry or Marcus Mariota might beat him there for the spot.

He can head to New Orleans to play with Jameis, and Borkles can come out of retirement. Two teams in the NFC South obviously LOADED at that QB position next year.

So which team will be signing Goff, Trubisky, and Matt Ryan?

... it's probably retirement for real this time next offseason for Brady, dont'cha think?

Either that or back up to Jimmy G on the superbowl champion runner up Santa Clara 49ers.

Not unless the new Nebraska HC (Head Corncob) returns to Charlotte.

The more interesting (to me) question is, what happens to Baker Mayfield next season? Carolina's almost definitely won't keep him, and no team will want him as a starter and maybe not even as a backup.

I'm sure Dan Snyder just loves him and will pay top dollar to get him on his bench.

I'm not sure Brady finishes this season out of prison after he's had enough and clubs both Bowles and Leftwich to pulp on the sideline during his next Surface tablet hissyfit.

What, is Snyder buying an XFL team after Bezos and Jay-Z buy the Commanders?

I'll believe it when I see it...

Is there a scenario where if Jimmy G flames out in the playoffs that SF tries to bring Brady in?

By flame out do you mean "Throws a pick with his eyes closed?"

Once the US Attorney's Office opened criminal investigations over financial impropriety, which saw the Snyders immediately commission Bank of America Securities to start assessing sale opportunities, the odds of the team being sold went WAY up.

Then you've got the DC Attorney General with two lawsuits currently filed against the team.

There's also the fact that owners (plural) reportedly confronted Goodell about forcing Snyder to sell (Jim Irsay was just the only one to speak publicly, because he's Jim Irsay).

Then add in the fact that the FedEx Field lease is up in 2027, and absolutely no one in or around DC has been willing to play ball with Snyder over a new stadium. And other owners are looking at this as a way to force Snyder out:

Despite the stadium’s issues and a clear consensus that a new one is needed, some have plans to stop Snyder from building one. According to ESPN, a few owners and executives have talked about potentially refusing to give Snyder the $200 million loan given to teams building a new stadium, an attempt to try and get the Washington owner to sell the team or to transfer the team permanently over to his wife, Tanya.

“The league’s only real tool is to starve him from the funds to build a stadium,” a team president told ESPN.

Danny Boy's getting it from all sides. Justice Department, DC AG, other owners, and looming stadium issues. There's a lot of straw on the back of that camel. I didn't even talk about sexual harassment lawsuits, Bruce Allen's awful emails, etc. He might Teflon his way through that stuff, but he's got real rich people problems now.

That sounds promising. We will see if he is as slippery as the orange one. If he donates it to his kids, that doesn't count.

New stadium? It can't be that old... I guess they don't make them like they used to.

It's the 9th oldest stadium, opened in 1997. And some of the older stadiums have had significant renovations. Fedex is at the very bottom of every NFL stadium ranking. As I understand it, it's basically a toilet that fits 60,000 people in it.

How bad are the Broncos?

So bad that the NFL flexed Broncos-Chiefs (starring probable NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes) out of the Sunday night spot in Week 14.

We're getting Dolphins-Chargers instead, so win!

DeShone Kizer, who was the backup QB in Green Bay in 2018, reveals that Qaaron's nutjobbery goes back at least that far:

“The first thing that comes out of Aaron Rodgers’s mouth was, ‘You believe in 9/11?’” Kizer said. “‘What? Do I believe in 9/11? Yeah, why wouldn’t I?’”

Rodgers told Kizer that he should “read up on that.”

Apparently, Rodgers got through to Kizer, not only about the conspiracy theory that 9/11 was an inside job but also other batsh*t-crazy concepts that plenty of people apparently believe in, contrary to all evidence, logic, and common sense.

“Inner Earth, moon landing, reptile people,” Kizer said. “Y’all are laughing. Go do your research, I’m telling you. Go do your research.”

Man, I hope we hear from some other former Packers backup QBs. Anyone seen Matt Flynn or Scott Tolzien lately?

I wonder if Jordan Love gets this, or if he's been frozen out because he was drafted to replace Qaaron and obviously is one of the reptile people.

Matt Rhule when asked what he would do differently in his time in Carolina opens by saying he probably would’ve taken a different job. He pretty much insists on his "being close" story. He would have won the NFC south "for years to come" with just some FA signings this next offseason.
