Hidden Gems of Netflix's Watch Instantly

Much better episode. Really gross creature. Might remind people of a video game that just came out with a sequel. The episode was entertaining.

That is the Grave Rats episode? See, I think I was the opposite. I liked the first episode better than the second. These will likely be a YMMV situation, which is fine by me. I am very impressed with the creature effects, design and all around production value of both episodes (only having seen two at this point).

yep the rat episode.

Watched Wendell & Wild which was good to watch. The story wasn't very good. The characters have no life to them. They are cool to look at but I didn't really like any of them. I mean the little details they smashed into this was epic. I actually watched it twice and was picking up things I didn't notice at first like a shadow version of a character was made up of scenes from the past.

The sound track was also pretty good. The songs they picked worked really well. I really liked a couple of original songs or at least I think they were original.

A rather adult story for kids movie. Maybe it isn't a kids movie. The main issue dealt with the evils of private prisons and schools made for profit instead of education. You would think the main story would be about the main character but we don't really learn much about her besides she blames herself for her parents dying. What is a hell maiden? I don't know. They movie is trying to say a lot but doesn't say much.

Agree with all the above. The main problem I had with it was that all the actors sounded like they were recorded in isolation from each other. It didn't feel like conversations, but rather like actors reading their lines to themselves. It created a disconnect between the viewer and characters as well.

I really wanted to like it, but in the end it was kinda meh.

I just bump KATLA on Netflix one more time.

It's dark, it's slow, it's Icelandic, and looking back upon 2022 - for me it is perhaps the epitome of the whole COVID´-pandemic feeling with glimmers of new hope...

Dark, weird, and almost no answers.. Yay!

I enjoyed Katla a lot and think about it often. Like a less brain-melting Dark.

Warrior Nun season 2 is out. The first season was good enough so I’ll be giving it a go.

Enola Holmes 2 was good.

Grail should have held onto his amulet of protection.

The Witcher thing looks interesting. I like them going a four part series and Michelle Yeo is often good. It is also nice to see some expansion of the Witcher universe.

Episode 3 of Cabinet of Curiosities

I really liked this episode but it could have been shorter. I don't think the first half added anything to the story. They could have started a the morgue and been a half hour short.

Episode 4 of Cabinet of Curiosities

Very odd episode about a mousy lady that really wanted to look pretty. I'm not sure but I think what happen to her at the end happen to every lady in town but her last or she was the latest "victim". They don't really explain a lot so I have no idea if she is in control of her own actions or not. I'm not sure why there was a creature or if there really was a creature at all. I do think they were doing ghostbuster reference to Gozer.

I'll watch anything Michelle Yeoh is in. Literally anything.

The Crown Season 5, Episode 5:

I'm calling this episode out not because it's the one I just watched, but because it paints the now king in a very favorable light after so many weeks of Netflix getting piled on by the Royal Family for painting an unfair picture.

I only saw an episode following Mohamed Al-Fayed, and it made me wonder if he'd financed the show.

Watch Enola Holmes 2 tonight, what a wonderful fun film. Just give me more of it please.

Yuuup! I watched it with my fam tonight and we all adored it. I picked up on the thing that Enola missed right as soon as it happened, but I was completely blindsided by the big reveal at the end; it felt very Holmesian. On that note, I don't know how far afield from the original source material these Enola movies have strayed, and I don't care; it's just so much fun!

This season has more time jumps than a season of Doctor Who.

If "Pakistani Cardiologist Thirst Trap" isn't trending on social media some time this week, then I'll be convinced that Elon's ruined things permanently.

Aren't time jumps par for the course in this series?

They've never had time jumps back to the Bolshevik Revolution and they've never had time jumps back into periods the show's already covered but they used the third version of the cast instead of the second version. Speaking of this show...

The Crown: Season 5, Episode 9

The whole sequence towards the end at Kensington Palace was brilliantly acted by Dominic West and Elizabeth Debicki. It lulls you into thinking that Charles and Diana were actually okay with each other after their divorce became final before Charles makes it about him and his (eventual) reign. And then it all falls apart.

Episode 10: Yeah, maybe they should've stopped with 9.

Cabinet of Curiosities Season 1 Episode 7: The Viewing

Robocop hosts a trippy event to show his...yeah. This was heavy on style. Kind of slow but I dug it. All of the bang bang happens in the last 15 minutes. Many people won't want to invest that much time in people talking wise while tripping on drugs.

The creature was on point. If anything this show does great creatures. I have no idea what the F was going on with it but it was cool.

If you are bored I would say watch the introduction of each character near the start then skip all the way to a point when they are all standing in a room near the last 20 minutes or so. You won't really miss anything and see the payoff.

While being sick I watched two episodes of 1899, the new show from the creators of the best sci fi show ever; Dark. It's just as weird and wonderful as Dark is. So many mysteries and strangeness that it's hard to keep track of everything. I hope it holds up.

Dunno if there is a HBO thread, so I dump it here. Having a blast with succession

after 1,5 episode - I was completely in! Binging season 2 after three days

My wife and I started season 3 of Dead to Me last night. It was about time this show came back!

And speaking of Dark, my goodness there are a lot of extremely dark (brightness-wise) scenes in the 1899 episode 1. I'm intrigued.

That's true. Still, one of my issues with the show was how it usually jumped in time between episodes, not as big as the ones you mentioned, for sure. I get that it's to focus on specific events but it usually left me cold to the characters. Same issue I had with House of the Dragon.

I watched all of 1889 today and it was fun and entertaining.

1899 episode 1

The first episode was great. It really gave off a sense of dread with some simple things. Also it is in English. I thought it was going to be in another language because it was from the creators of Dark.

Tea time

Spoiler:

The first thing that really shook me was a minor 2 second scene where every single person in a lunch hall stopped to sip tea at the exact same time and they put their cups down at the exact same time. Might have been over a hundred people and nobody made a comment about it or looked like they even noticed.

Very minor scene filled with major WTF just happen. Many people are introduced at this location. One Japanese teacher student couple stood out. The student was dressed like a geisha but interestingly enough didn't speak Japanese. Also both of them seem to be under the control of a white lady that dresses like a evil queen from a fairy tale book.

There is also a female doctor that could only study but not practice medicine. As soon as she was introduced you know she will be using her skills as a doctor sooner or later.

the doctor

Spoiler:

The doctor is one of most interesting characters because the show starts up with her locked up in Arkham claiming she isn't insane and that her father or maybe a priest did something to the people on the ship. She also said the stole her memories.

So are we dealing with some kind of mass experiment? Or is this a matrix situation. Or is everyone dead. d Or is this show just the mad fantasy in a lady's head?

So many questions about the good doctor I'm betting she is the key to the show. Maybe this show Adam/Eve if it comparable to Dark.

Major major buggy spoilers.

Spoiler:

So they find the missing ship. So far there is only a one boy alive that was locked away for some reason on the ship that held over a thousand people. One thing to note is a bug led the boarding party to the boy and the boy has pyramid that is heavily giving me Hellraiser vibes. I have expected chains to shoot out of it and bring forth demons from beyond.

Also while the boarding crew is checking out the ship some dude sneaks his way onto their ship. The really crazy thing is he uses a bug to unlock a door. So that leaves the question was it some kind of advance robot bug or was it magic. Why did the dude sneak onboard instead of asking for help. Did he seen the bug that led to the boy. Did he lock up the boy in the first place. I'm guessing the boy and strange man are the same person. Yeah time travel.

So like Dark.

Music and camera work are excellent. Netflix dropped some serious cash on this show. Set design was perfect. Looking forward to the rest of it.
