Marvel Snap - Catch-all

OK. You were right. This is fun. Once I wrapped my head around the progression, I got into it. I was mostly afraid they were locking cards behind the paid season pass, but I already had Carnage so I guess that's not true. Variants, maybe? The missions are also a reason to keep trying new things. I made a deck based around discards and seem to be doing pretty well with it. I think I'm in the 2nd pool now and am seeing all sorts of new things.

I just use it to buy variants. I figure I’ll get the credits eventually and don’t need to speed up that process. I think I’ve picked up two variants that caught my eye with gold so far.

Just threw together a Heimdal (on reveal: move all your other cards one location left) deck and currently loving the Round 6 switcheroo.

It looks like I'm making cuckoo-bananapants plays until Heimdal saunters into the board at the end. Which of course means I'm getting snapped for extra points.

To be fair, it's not consistent (first you have to draw Heimdal), and sometimes your opponents placements don't leave you in a better position.

Do cards move location via Pac-Man rules? Or do they stop at the leftmost location?

They stop at the sides.

I had yesterday off and was feeling like lounging because I’m getting over a cold, so I was really looking forward to putting some serious time into God of War Ragnarok. I’ve been hearing good things about Marvel Snap, so I decided to try it while I was still laying around in bed. I was hooked. I ended up playing many more hours of this than GOW.

I was really digging it early on. But I’ve hit the stage were it’s getting harder and I’m starting to experiment with different cards and decks. I’m trying to avoid guides at this point and seeing if I can figure out good builds based on experimentation and watching what my opponents do. There are so many variables in the matches it’s tough finding a build that has internal strengths while being flexible enough to adapt to different situations.

I’m thinking of trying the season pass. I’ve never really played a game where I used a season pass. But I figure try it and see if I like it. Overall the game is really impressive. There are a lot of little things like animations and sounds that make the game seem really polished.

Im at level 18 and the credit storage is completely full. I dont know what to do with the 1000’s of credits. I know you use them to upgrade your cards but there is nothing to upgrade?

Also… i am not sure if if i am very low level but its a rare occurrence that I lose a game?

I was winning everything until I was in the 30s in I think. I think while you are in the introductory chapter you mainly play bots. It’s gets more challenging after that. I also found the credit situation to switch. I have dozens of cards I could upgrade and no credits. Also, the more you use cards the higher you can level them and that gets more expensive

Yeah, I’ve never maxed out the credits, if anything I never seem to have enough.

As far as I can make out, the only thing to spend your gold on is cosmetic card variants and the only thing t spend your credits on it boosters to level-up cards, and thereby increase your level, and thereby unlock new cards.

Spend your credits if you want to get a bigger card pool to splash about in.

How many and what kind of decks does everyone have? I have a buff, attack, discard x2, move, and if opponent plays here decks. I've tried building an ongoing deck but nothing has been successful.

I’ve been trying to experiment and figure out decks without looking at guides. My current main deck is focused on flexibility and pulling cards from opponents. So I have multiple cards that pull cards from opponents (mantis, cable, morph, white Queen). This keeps my options open and I can see what kind of deck my opponent is playing which informs predicting their moves and knowing when to bail. I have a couple cards that eliminate cards from my deck when played (blade, sword master). Those cards get you more power for the energy cost, are great for places where on reveal abilities are blocked, and great for last round stuff. Also I tend to have cards to spare because I’m stealing cards from the opponent.
The rest of my deck is card I like and can provide a flexibility advantage. Yondu eliminates one of their cards limiting their options and revealing more info about their deck. Elekra to removed played cards. Nightcrawler gives flexibility. Finally I have Colossus, white tiger, and wolfsbane. Those are cards I’m enjoying but would be first out if I wanted to try a new card.

I found out that there are 3 pools of cards. As you advance and get to the next pool, a whole bunch of cards are unlocked. I just went from pool 1 to pool 2. It can be frustrating because I don’t have many pool 2 cards, so I’m playing against decks with lots of cards I’m unfamiliar with. I’m sure as I get access to these cards my deck will change. Having multiple cards that pull from opponent decks does allow me to sample these cards.

I'm at the top end of pool 2 and now going up against a lot of decks with pool 3, so that's been an education. I've got a destruction deck which does pretty decently, and a disruption deck which is loads of fun. Still sitting mid 20's, rank wise, which is fine by me. Are the holographic and Prism backgrounds on cards the final upgrades? Does it invalidate the 3D and animated backgrounds?

I’ve only got two decks, one focused on ongoing effects and one focused on flooding locations with cheap cards and then buffing them. Both are pretty effective but have their weaknesses.

Still tweaking my Heimdal deck. I need more cards that can move so I can set up the round 6 switcheroo better.

What level is Pool 3?

Edit: looks like collection level 474 and up is Pool 3.... I'm at around 360 so a ways to go yet.

I'm around collection level 113 or so, and I've definitely been losing more within the last ~20 collection levels. I've only got two decks, one that's mostly on reveal cards and Odin, and one that's cheap cards plus Kazar. They both do okay, but neither does anything super crazy.

I'd like to build more interesting decks, but it feels like I don't have enough cards to support more deck types. Like, I've got a half dozen cards that will move things, but only two that actually benefit from moving. I'm not sure if I just haven't gotten enough of the right cards yet, or if I'm not being creative enough.

I've been upgrading cards whenever I get enough boosters, or whenever the fast upgrade offers are under ~150 credits, but I'm still sitting around 3000 credits, and I've never really felt crunched for them. Seems like a lot of others feel like they're always short of credits, so am I missing something?

Chaz you're around the middle of Pool 1 in terms of collection level. Pool 2 starts at 214 or so.

Sounds like you need to play more matches and get more boosters!

Also change up your deck to include some new cards so that you'll get boosters for them.

I only have one card with the Animated Frame (which is one step away from infinite, the last upgrade). It doesn't look like anything is taken away, the effects are just additive.

Once you get a card to infinity level, it splits into two cards. The chromatic one is the new card and it can be leveled up seperately.

There is aVibranium Forge Event going on right now. They hide the events away in the news tab. Details in the link.

Thanks for the heads up, yeah it's definitely hidden away!

Enjoying the beginning of the game and it might have enough legs to replaces Gems of War as my "waiting in line and don't have the concentration to read a book" game.

However, the major downside is every time I play I get a version of Weird Al's parody of "I Got My Mind Set On You" except it's:

This game is just six turns long
This game is just six turns long
This game is just six turns long
This game is just six turns long

If you are on for a definite win, don't snap during turn 6. 2 points are better than 1. Maybe it's part of the psychology working against me but if I am losing significantly at the start of turn 6 and you snap, I am going to retreat. Everytime! I might watch and see what happens for 2 points, but not 4.

So I hit level 50, with a collection level of 371, and know I’m getting my butt kicked. It must be choosing for a whole new player base because the decks I’m playing against are tough and I’ve lost like 3 levels

What good does Jane Foster serve? I have no 0 cost cards and I can't think of a card that reduces cost, just a location.

She’s not great until you get other Pool 3 cards that synchronize with her.

My first match after posting that someone played Quin Jet against me, but even then it reduces cost of cards in your hand, not your deck.

I'm into Pool 3 now. The collection boxes I stead of guaranteed cards is... Interesting.

I'm stuck around level 34, but as long as I'm making progress on Missions I don't really care. Enjoying the new cards I'm facing and seeing for the first time.

Holy smoke. Just had a broken combo played against me. Onslaught, Mystique, Wong, and Ironheart. The turn has been triggering for half an hour and the attack numbers are up in the high hundreds. Looks like Onslaught doubles ongoing effects at this location, and then Mystique duplicates it, creating a crazy loop which triggers Wong's "On reveal abilities at this location happen twice" which then triggers Ironheart's 3 other friendly cards +2. It finally ended. Final numbers: 249, 655, 650. I would have won the match otherwise.
