Nintendo Switch Catch-All 2.0

That's probably my favorite Nintendo Direct since Switch year one.

Fire Emblem: Engage looks exactly like what I was hoping for as a follow up to Three Houses. I'm not finding the character designs quite as strong, but I loved Three Houses, so this is very likely a day 1 buy for me.

Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hopes looks great. The weakest parts of the first game were the overworld puzzles and exploration. All of that looks completely overhauled in the sequel.

Pikmin 4... yay!

Bayonetta 3 is also looking fantastic. The character faces look extremely good for a Switch game. I never did play the 2nd game, so this seems like a good excuse for me to finally get to that.

The Zelda teaser was short, but sweet. I don't need to see any more of it to be sold anyways.

And FM3 is the one that everyone says is the best. Definitely happy to hear that the first three are being remade.

FM3 is one of my all-time favorite Playstation RPGs. I am very interested in checking it out again today. I suspect it will hold up quite well.

As a random aside, Hot Shots golf is essentially on Switch as well. It wasn’t in the North American direct, but Clap Hanz released a port of their latest golf game titled “Easy Come Easy Golf”. Another awkward title, but it looks and plays every bit like Hot Shots. I picked it up today.

Even if it’s shorter and missing some of the polish, it plays better than any standard golf game on the system.

Ohhhhh very nice thank you!

Haven't watched yet. Is it tears like water coming from your eyes or tears like ripping something apart?

... I watched the trailer (but nothing else) and I have no idea. On the one hand the crying reference is poetic. On the other hand it looks like the floating islands might have been literally torn from the ground and raised into the air...

The Japanese apparently refers to tears, like crying.

And there's the game to get me to dust off my Switch.

Thanks, I always wonder what was only in the Japanese direct but it’s usually games that at least are not yet confirmed for elsewhere?

I am disappointed that SquareEnix has once again announced a bunch of games but none of them were Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster.

In Sparks of Hope, the rabbids talk. In English. It seems like a pretty good game despite that.

That was far less positive than I expected.

I will probably still pick it up but it seems like he had to force himself to say positive things often when really he wanted to complain.

Looks like Factorio will launch on Switch on October 28th.

Friday Facts #370 - The journey to Nintendo Switch

Sounds like the effort also resulted in some performance improvements for the PC version, along with paving the way for controller support for PC and Steam Deck.

I haven't played in quite a while, and I stalled out on petroleum when I did, so maybe the ability to play Factorio on the go is just what I need.

I have found the best joycon replacements (well at least the best I have tried)

The Hori Split Pad Compact.. For some odd reason only Best Buy has them in the US currently - Amazon says December is when they will have them. However they were able to ship them quickly.

I have tried them for the last few days and they are wonderful. They are bigger than the official JoyCons but not as bit as my previous "best" controllers the KINVOCA C25 Joypad

The buttons feel great, and the grip is comfortable.

If you need replacements for JoyCons I would heartily recommend them.

I liked the look of them, although I enjoyed the bigger Hori pad when I had it too. Nice to hear they feel good.

I am a big fan of the Hori Split Pad Pro for handheld mode. Mostly play docked though.

That Hori Split Pad Compact looks great. I'll have to try them if their big brother bites it. Which I hope they don't because I really like 'em.

Can anybody these function as two separate controller like a pair of original joycons can?

I don’t think so. It doesn’t have a battery nor wireless functionality.

Wulff Den's review of the Hori Split Pad Compact

I’ve gone back to the original hori split pad pros. They still feel really good to me. I wish they had the official Nintendo guts (rumble and gyro mostly). The 3rd party Chinese ones are okay but they bottom out really hard. They are okay.

I just picked up a Split Pad Pro today, they were clearing out the red ones at Walmart for 39.99 CAD for some reason

Can't wait to try them out!

Me and technology toys!

I am selling my KingKong 2 Pro Wireless $50 shipped

It is a great controller I just bought a different one because...well because buying toys is part of my hobby.

PM me if you interested.

Well it is always nice to see a list of games and know I don't have to rush out to buy anything! Rather a dull Indie World for me.

I only caught the very end, in time to see that Sports Story is coming out in December. Which tbh is the only announcement I really wanted to see.

I have a random idea. How to strap a power bank to the back of the switch?

Obviously, duct tape.

I guess Rogue Legacy 2 stealth-dropped on the Switch today. Great game, highly recommended if you like that sort of thing.

I loved Golf Story so I’m thrilled that Sports Story finally releases next month.
