What's it like doing World without fast pass? The new thing where you're now paying $15/person/day to try and get one fast pass at a time on the day you're there sure does sound like it sucks. Our kids are starting to bug us about going back, and the new thing seems like it'll both make it more expensive to go, and mean a lot more waiting in even longer lines.
When I went in May, the $15 was totally worth it (or $45 in our case for three people). It would suck to go without it, and we went on weekdays, not on the weekend where I am sure it is even worse. The way the system works seems kind of confusing, but after you actually do it for a day it becomes more obvious how it works.
If at all possible, I highly recommend going with your girlfriend's gay best friend who lives in LA, has season tickets, goes almost every weekend, and knows exactly when which rides typically have the shortest lines and how to abuse the fast-pass system to maximum effect. It really does enhance the experience, everyone should try it.

Well I don't think Andy or his new wife are going to be super- pleased with your plan to have him switch teams just so that I get an extra two rollercoaster rides in, but I've texted him and let him know anyway.
So it seems like we got some bad luck and the storm is hitting Disney while we are there Thursday- Saturday this week. We have a few more hours to decide if we are going to cancel... Any locals want to talk me out of going... reddit seems to think it will be fine, just wet. I have a 2 and 6yo I'd really like to not destroy their hopes.
My company just closed our Orlando office for the rest of the week.

Ooof... that's not great...
I'm no hurricane expert, but I live about an hour east of Disney. The worst of the storm is supposed to be over on Wednesday, but it will still be raining and still windy on Thursday. Disney does a great job of taking care of guests in inclement weather, and afterwards is great because the parks are relatively empty. There's not supposed to be much in the way of thunderstorms.
Tough call on if you want to go or not, with the little ones. I'd like to think you'd have a good time, if you don't mind the wet and wind, but it's hard to guarantee just what happens.

This seems to be the general conclusion, just make sure I hit town with gas and food in case something goes wrong. I will be perfectly fine, I just worry about the wife and kiddos. If crowds are lessened it would be nice.
