MLB 2022 Season

This is the second time I have had to take this distasteful position (the other being Super Bowl LII), so it is only due to extraordinary circumstances. Rest assured otherwise, I would be rooting for all of you to fall off a cliff.

As a Philadelphia fan who has to work every day within smelling distance of the Meadowlands, we have established mutual respect and understanding.

I know this feeling. And now Eli Manning is forever a god damn American Hero to me. He saved us not just twice but also from endless talk of the perfect season. God I love that pie face MFer.

Well, that piece of history is now denied to us, so I guess there's only one thing left to do...

Win the whole. F***in'. Thing.

I told my wife that thought Dusty made that challenge at least in part to ice Wheeler for a few minutes.

Then that happened.

Boy, I got up this morning and the first two news stories I saw were:
* Astros' Martin Maldonado used illegal bat in World Series vs. Phillies
* Was Framber Valdez using a foreign substance? Phillies react

To be fair the first item was sourced from Philadelphia media and the second is directly from it (and has a question headline). I'm surprised there wasn't another article about them deflating the balls.

I think you're missing the real headline:

Pat Hoberg umped a perfect game last night.

Christ, Musk takes over and suddenly the headlines get more and more unbelievable on Twitter.

Great win last night! 5-0 lead didn't get blown this time.

I hope the Philly fans give the cheaters a warm welcome and some D batteries.

Finally an appropriate time to say "Let's go Brandon!"

I truly love baseball curmugdeons caterwauling about "why do they keep tinkering with the game?" whenever MLB changes some rules, as if the game hasn't been tinkered with a splillion times since its invention when it was "first to 21 wins" and a walk took 9 balls.

EDIT: Fine, the rules stayed mostly static from 1901 to the 1960s, but STILL.

Also, that's 5 HRs by the 5th inning.

Philly, you better not beef this.

McCullers going more than twice through the order was criminal.

Yeah, I told my wife that I didn't know what he did to p***off Dusty, but it must have been pretty bad.

God these close games make me an anxious wreck.

Sheesh.

I hope the Phils take their baseball Viagra since they shot their wad tonight.

I'm starting to think this could be real.

Give this man a raise.

Yea, that worries me, especially since Nola is pitching next. For some reason they always think he only needs 1 run of support.

This home crowd is special…these things just mean more to Philly fans.

A baseball question, are the Phillies potentially on their way to winning a championship by accident this season
It turns out Houston's one weakness is mediocre NL East teams who spent 4 months stumbling around drunk before getting serious.
They have come as close as one theoretically can to building an MLB team out of beer league softball guys and they are going to dong their way to glory while making a jerk off motion at the concept of "fielding"

Philadelphia A's also won the World Series in 1910, 1911, 1913, and 1930.

Edit: Weird how this happens sometimes. Anyhow, enjoyed the No No!

That was historically bad.

Well, it's definitely been an entertaining series, at least.

When was the last time that the two cities playing in the World Series also faced off on the same day in the NFL?

(Astros' leather > Phils' leather) tonight. Fair play to them, game of inches, etc.

Too many runners left on base, too.

I think this one was tougher to take than last night. It's the hope that kills you.

Not sure, but maybe we can swap NFL and MLB scores just this one time?

I don't think I breathed for several hours there. That was tense as hell.

Let's go, Astros! One more!
