NBA 2022-23 Season Catch-All

Victor Wembanyama

That is an Ent. That is not a person.

His French team is here to play a couple exhibitions against the G League Ignite, starring the projected #2 pick. Both games will be on ESPN I believe.

Jesus, he is an insanely tantalizing prospect. 6 minutes in and he’s blocked interior shots and 3-point shots, broken a guy down in isolation for a layup, made an effortless lob finish, made a 3 coming off a short screen, and made a catch and shoot 3. It just looks unnatural seeing it from a dude that is clearly 7’4”+.

He's absurd. The only thing that matters is...

...well, the only thing that matters. "If he stays healthy."

And maybe puts on a few pounds of muscle.

Fun stat: Wembanyama finished the game with 7 threes and 5 blocks, something that has only happened once in any NBA game, ever. By Danny Green of course?

Scoot Henderson also was really good last night, and Hugo Besson, who the Bucks got with the last pick in the draft, felt like he couldn’t miss from 3. When I’m more awake I need to find a box score.

So, apparently Draymond hit Jordan Poole during practice today.

Draymond shalt never cease being Draymond.

The amazing breadth of human personalities. That dude is fueled by conflict and antagonism in a way I cannot wrap my brain around.

slapping teammates for content is on another level. draymond is living in the future lol

lol

Video. It obviously wasn't a slap.

The day before this happened Bill Simmons had Zach Lowe on his podcast and one topic that came up was.... Would Draymond be a distraction/problem in a contract year.

Worth a listen even if you can't stand Simmons as Lowe is great.

Draymond issued an apology today. It's... uh... people have some questions about it!

Reporters are saying he's genuine though.

Just one spot left in the Fantasy Basketball league! come and join us!

I think the best part of that video is KD is low key watching but also trying to not watch.

To be fair, the ball went to where his hand was pointed.

It’s crazy. He 100% shoots with the wrong hand. He started that shot like a righty and then it went all weird.

The best interpretation I have is he was trying to do an alley-oop to someone that didn’t realize it. Otherwise… yeah really strange hand placement.

Dikembe Mutumbo, 56, undergoing treatment for brain tumor. Damn.

Last week, Jordan Poole got punched. This week, Jordan Poole is getting paid.

And Wiggins!

After Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins extensions, the projected salary and luxury tax for the Golden State Warriors in the 2023-2024 season, per
@BobbyMarks42: $483 million.

Hats off to the GSW ownership for paying the big luxury tax bill. It’s refreshing when you’ve got so many other billionaires pretending they couldn’t possibly afford to keep a good thing together.

It's really interesting to see what the maneuvering will be in the next 3-4 years, with the anticipated salary cap/luxury tax increasing by a pretty big chunk.

However much into the tax the Warriors are it can't be as much as the Clippers are. I heard on a pod someone said the tax penalty for Ballmer is as much as some other team's entire salaries.

$35 million a year is a LOT for a bench player. The Warriors can afford it but that just seems like an overpay.

From what I hear there are a lot of unlikely incentives to reach that max 140 number, and that it’s more likely to be in the 125 range unless he becomes a starter (and All-Star level). I also think they’re baking the likelihood of him taking either Steph or Klay’s place in the starting five by the end of the extension.

Opening night! Let's go Warriors!

Woot woot

Wow. The flop fest that was Boston vs. Philly was something. My favorite moment besides Harden drawing 3 bait/leg extension fouls on 3 point attempts had to be when Smart (a great defender but also a guy who throws himself to the ground under guys at any opportunity) flops on a Harden 3, Harden shimmies, then Harden hits all backboard, no rim on his shot.

LMAO

Both of them are already in mid-season form. I love it.
