It was only in 2008 that youtube appeared

Not nearly old enough for bad knees.

Badgers was made in 2003. There were video sharing sites long before YouTube ruined things.

It wasn't technically a video: it was a flash animation and was published in 2003

It is technically a video, a flash animation is just the type of video.

Yeah, but even by remembering and understanding enough to have this semantic argument, we're all revealing ourselves to be terribly old and unhip.

Which is why I kinda did it

Oh, you absolutely have the tip of my hat.

And relatedly, so does Newgrounds for seemingly having solved (at least for most cases) the culture preservation issue caused by the deprecation of Flash -- they seem to have built a serviceable translation layer so that all of those pieces of early 2000s internet culture are still playable on modern browsers.

Ah! A snake! It's a snake.

I just want to make sure the Hampster Dance (sic) never dies.

It's actually heat on my lower back, you whipper snappers!

That is a 10/10 setup, and undergrad me is jelly. Not that he would even know what jelly means in this context, but trust me he is.

Especially with the flat screen. Those were magic when they first came out.

Think of how much furniture design changed after that. Corner desks and cabinets that can support deep CRT monitors and TVs are obsolete now. Charities won't even take them.

Uh. 2/10, Where is the 2.1 audio?

btw, dogs don't have the wiring to look "guilty" about a behavior in the past. This looks means "calm the f*** down, I'm just sitting here." which thankfully, for more than 2000 years, we've interpreted as an anthropomorphic apology.

Yea definitely missing a set of those beige Altec Lansing speakers with the subwoofer that everybody had. Those things were the basis of my home audio system for a solid 15 years or so.

I finally replaced my set literally last year.

Me, too. My boys hooked them up to an amp for their percussion/rhythm work. Got them in Jan. 1995 with a Gateway Pentium P-90 tower, 16 MB RAM, and a 1 Gigabyte hard disk. I was the cool guy among my friends for a few months.

Me too. Not at my desk tho as I only ever use headphone there now. I use them as better sound system for one of our TVs.

I used a set of Cambridge Soundworks until last winter, when I replaced my monitor with a wall mounted TV. Now I use the TV or a set of headphones based upon how loud I want the sound to be. Headphones for world-excluding levels of sound.

When I was the network admin at the Univ. of Oklahoma College of Business, the faculty would upgrade their PCs and just throw money at them. "Get me the best I can get for $$$!" I would order a nice machine and add good speakers/sub, and when it came in, I'd ask them if they wanted their speakers. Some of them didn't want them or would just want to keep their old ones.

The techs that worked for me and I always had the nicest sound setups from Gateway/Dell because of this. My favorite was a seriously thumping Boston Acoustics setup - it lived at my desk, of course.
