Xbox Game Pass for Console, PC, and Android

Have put a couple hours into Slime Rancher 2. It's more slime rancher! (for better and for worse).

Same thing that bothered me in Slime Rancher 1 is still here: you're limited in the number of slimes you can get by the total number of plots in your base. And with the reliance on multiple food types/storage/etc basically you have room for 3-4 food growing plots (since some of the exotic food takes you almost 10-15 minutes to haul your character out into the wild and back again) and 3-4 Slime plots. Which basically I guess means I'm going to try to create 3-4 pens of hybrid slimes of the exotic types? I don't know. I really enjoy it and am having fun but it definitely feels more derivative than iterative.

You just need to pay gold to unlock the side areas adjacent to your main base. They have 8+ more plots each.

Shh.... keep your voice down... they might notice

That's what I've been doing the last couple of months. Occassionally they have a sale on Ultimate if you're not currently subscribed, too.

Prodeus 1.0 on Game Pass?!? Yes, thank you. I've been waiting for the full release. The early access version was one of the best boomer shooters I've played in a while.

Kind of excited for Shipbreaker and Slime Rancher 2 on Series X.

I've been playing Shipbreaker, and I'm kind of loving the loop (for now). Seems to have a story of sorts that is progressing, but it's mostly navigating through space to disassemble ships. Pretty straightforward, though there are parts here and there that make for tricky bits. (I've blown up several fuel tanks and just let a reactor melt down...oh well.) Still, for some reason I just find it satisfying.

I played it for a couple of hours over the weekend and have uninstalled it. I watched hours of streamers playing it and thought it would be a nice chill game, but I am just not feeling it.

Slime Rancher 2 is more Slime Rancher which is cool I guess. I think I will wait for it to hit 1.0 before I play much more of it though.

Surprised at how much I'm enjoying Deathloop. Enjoying the time-lore and, as long as I'm not taking it seriously, it's a bunch of fun.

I just dipped my toe in and I'm getting a large Bioshock (but not as good) vibe. Not sure how I feel yet.

I too am surprised how much I'm enjoying Deathloop given how cold Prey and the Dishonoreds left me.

That's why I'm surprised, because I bounced off Dishonored 2 pretty hard. Even the original was just ok to me.

I am getting NOLF vibes from the style, which is unexpected but very welcome.

Hmm. I have wanted to play Prey for years and just recently put in a couple of hours, but was turned off by seeing that it was the kind of game where I need to search every ashtray and garbage can. I did finish Fallout 3 and Bioshock Infinite, but man, how did developers get the idea that that kind of gameplay is fun?

I watched a few seconds of the Deathloop trailer and was immediately turned off. Maybe it's getting older and having kids but realistic graphic violence just doesn't provide the tingles it used to.

My wife has asked me not to play when she's home. It doesn't bother me so much but I get it. I wish there was a tone it down option, maybe a quick stab animation instead of a beatdown, followed by multiple stabbing and then a neck break just for the heck of it.

Despot's Game - I want to like it more than I do. It feels like a game that was made for me, one of the few people who really loved Dungeon Siege 2 (The big knock on DS2 was that it was kind of an autobattler). But, it isn't working. For the first few runs, at least, it feels like pulling the handle on a slot machine, and then running into a wall.

The aesthetics are a little confused and offputting as well. There's this whole "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream" vibe to the whole thing, but cheeky and silly. With Lovecraft monsters. It feels, I dunno, maybe ... cynical.

I want to nurture and protect and arm the little naked victims, but the game wants me to use them as cannon fodder or food.

Game Pass PC app now shows game length estimates from HowLongToBeat directly on game pages. That's convenient since I pretty much always look up games on there before I start them.

Cant find that info on my PC App...!?, where is it?

When I open a game in the app it was showing under the info section. It wasn’t there for every game but was for many.

Example for Overwhelm you can see it under the Info section and above Achievements

As a recommendation, a website that I've found useful for searching all the Game Pass games is https://gamepassport.net/ It's got lots of filters that are easy to select and quickly browse through. It also has review scores and how-long-to-beat times.

Don't think I'm as hot on Metal: Hellsinger as everyone else seems to be. Which is a shame, because I'm a big metalhead and had high hopes after the demo.

It has some cool music. Perhaps veers a little too far into modern/over-produced metal for my liking, but the tracklist is good and I can't critique that if I'm to be objective about it.

But the central gimmick feels like it takes more away from the gameplay than it does add to it. The weapons don't necessarily flow to the steady rhythm, and instead of wanting to click along to the beat, you're forced to slow down and hold fire (i.e, no half notes, just a steady rhythm the entire...way...through). As soon as combat ends, you need to pull out your basic weapon and keep firing into nothing so as to not lose the multiplier which just feels tedious.

Idk, it's a really average FPS game with a cool soundtrack that tries to get by on that rhythm gimmick. I realized at level 3 that clicking to the beat doesn't save a mediocre shooter, even if the music is good.

Chivalry 2 is coming to Game Pass tomorrow:

Twitter confirmation.

Thanks, now it shows up, rebooted PC (I think the app auto-updated) and now it shows right there where it should *shrug*.

Games leaving on October 15:

Bloodroots (Cloud, Console, and PC)
Echo Generation (Cloud, Console, and PC)
Into The Pit (Cloud, Console, and PC)
Ring of Pain (Cloud, Console, and PC)
Sable (Cloud, Console, and PC)
The Good Life (Cloud, Console, and PC)

I played an hour or so of Chivalry II last night. It's a game that I was really intrigued by when it first came out and I saw video of it, but I just thought the odds were way to high that I'd pay $40 or whatever and play it twice and never again. Game Pass is perfect for this! I'll definitely play at least another hour -- it is a difficult game, kind of complicated, and my teams went 0-3 last night, but at least in that time, it was silly enough and you respawn quickly enough that I didn't really mind when I got sniped by an arrow or taken down by someone who seemed like a much more experienced player who was better versed in the mechanics. It's fun! We'll see how long I stick with it -- if Overwatch 2 continues to not let me log in, I might play a lot!

If you’re looking for a local couch game for 2 or more players, I highly recommend Spiderheck. My two boys and I played some rounds of this last night, and the local versus mode is fantastic. Super tight controls, well implemented, and fast. I so wish we saw more couch games like this, with well designed versus modes on a single screen for all to play. Six big thumbs up from here.

Have you played Boomerang Fu yet? It's an excellent couch PVP game. My kids love it.

We haven’t, but will now! Thanks:)

I don't think it's on Gamepass but it's worth whatever they want for it.

Boomerang Fu is excellent. I believe it goes up to six players but it is fun even with just two. I will say, just like with Speedrunners, every additional human player past two multiplies the fun not adds to it. It has a charming art style and simple gameplay that hide the deep strategy involved in conquering your foes. I also really like that it is possible to turn off power-ups that you feel make the game unfair for whoever gets to them first.

Not a Gamepass game but it really is worth checking out if you routinely have two or more other people to play with. It is relatively cheap as well.

You mentioned Speedrunners, which is another good one that I've played countless times with my kids.

Xbox Cloud Gaming is coming to Meta Quest

“When Xbox Cloud Gaming launches on the Meta Quest Store, you’ll be able to hook up an Xbox controller to your headset and play console games from the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate library on a massive 2D screen, like having a private movie theater available at all times.

“No date yet, but we hope to share more on this as soon as possible,” it added.
