What are you playing this weekend?

Was supposed to be playing Cross Code, which I did get to play a some of during the week - its a lot of fun. But then got distracted by installing Kingdom Two Crowns. This is the tower defense style game that's on a 2D plane scrolling to the left/right. There is a new 80s themed game in the series they are showing off. For some reason they keep releasing the same game with minor update and suckers like me keep buying'em!

In any case the game I really want to point out is Dome Keeper. Published by the same company. There's a demo on Steam and played that for an hour and a half and purchased right after. The full game comes out in a few days.

In this one you have to protect a dome from alien attack. The attacks come in waves. In-between waves you mine resources under the dome. Resources will allow you to upgrade various things - the laser you use to vaporize the aliens. Or ability upgrades such as being able to drill faster, increase the speed of your jetpack, or how many resources you can carry at once. There's quite a few upgrades and you'll need to wisely choose them.

The game gets pretty tense as the deeper your mine the further away you are from the dome. And you have to get back there to fend off the alien attack. So you really need to keep a close eye out for when the next attack wave is going to occur while at the same time pray you come across the resources you need to help keep your dome from being destroyed.

Highly recommend checking out the demo.

More AC: Odyssey. Want to finish the main story before month's end....but I also planned to do that a month ago and failed.
Played some more TMNT: Shredder's Revenge with my oldest yesterday, and I'm sure there will be more. We also started In My Shadow, which makes a good first impression even though the controls are a bit finicky.
Also hoping to play more NORCO, and get started on Return to Monkey Island.

I've been checking out some of the free games I've picked up from Epic, GOG, etc over the last few months. I'm currently playing Iratus: Lord of the Dead (free from GOG) and enjoying it, heavily inspired by Darkest Dungeon, flipping it around so you're the monster. I'll be attempting boss #3 this weekend.

Another freebie this time from The Epic Store that I'll be playing is Gloomhaven. It's currently free to pick up until next Thu. I started with the tutorial last night and will get some practice in over the weekend, ready for a co-op run with a couple of friends next week.

If I can fit it in I also plan to play The Procession to Calvary on Game Pass before it leaves next week. HLTB says it should take 2.5-3 hours to complete.

Deathloop for next weekend then!

I'm planning on streaming Little Nightmares II on Discord for friends tonight. Having a grand time with the game so far so it should be a blast.

I was going to play Walkabout Mini Golf VR on Sunday with people here but I may have or may have not passed out donating blood a couple days ago and hit my head on the floor. Everything's fine but my head is a little tender.. idk probably shouldn't.

Otherwise, I want to continue Yakuza Kiwami 2 and start either Spiritfarer or Doki Doki Literature Club Plus!.

There have been a few games recently that I bought because of a gorgeous art style then stopped playing because the gameplay just wasn’t for me. I’m trying to avoid that in the future. At the same time I’m attempting to branch out from my usual games and take some chances with intriguing indie games.

One such game was RÖKI. It has a gorgeous art style and I didn’t want to get it for that reason alone but the trailers have been appealing to me long enough for me to finally give it a go. I’m pleased to report, I’m into it. It’s an atmospheric adventure game with a strong Scandinavian folk tale feel.

Also, more Divinity OS 2 tonight.

I sadly did not have time to do any clearing of grudges, as I TRUST THE DAWI, but I did get to put about five to six hours into Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut... a game that I started playing originally on the PS4 and it just didn't hook me.

This time around though, I'm feeling it a bit more. We will see as my play time goes deeper, but it's not as bland as I originally thought 18 months ago.

This is all I played over the weekend, as I was surprisingly busy with house stuff (yay Fall weather!)

This weekend is a camping weekend, so I will be playing the "stay dry in a tiny tent" game. But, I did finally get over pile anxiety and started up Horizon Zero Dawn, which I've had sitting in my PS account when it dropped for free last year. Camping is over on Sunday and I took Monday off, too, so I will be playing it this weekend.

Playing more TF2 and Trails in the Sky SC. If I’m feeling spicy then Slay the Spire.

Troubleshooter: Abandoned Children!

Still on sale until Monday.

I subscribed to PS+ Extra this week, and the first game I wanted to play was Stray, so I installed it, played plenty of it yesterday, and plan to play even more of it this weekend. I might even consider going for the platinum trophy.

Also on the docket: God Eater 3 (PC), Mega Man 11 (PC), and Persona 3 Portable (PSP in theory, but really PC).

Only thing holding me back from platinuming Stray is that timed achievement. I should attempt it someday, but I just don't enjoy being under the clock like that.

Starting off with Ys IX: Monstrum Nox with the JRPG club.

Leveling Astrologian and playing PVP in Final Fantasy XIV.

Dome Keeper. Totally addicted to this game. It's kinda part tower defense.

Your dome sits on the surface of an alien planet, the aliens attack in waves. You have this laser attached to your dome to help fend them off. Waves get more difficult so you have to upgrade your weapons and dome to survive the continued attacks. There's a bunch of upgrade trees to go down for each ability to help with that.

So the second part of the game happens in-between the waves of aliens. You dig down under your dome hunting for resources. The resources are used to upgrade and there's almost never enough. It's a rush to find these resources before the next wave hits - and god forbid your deep down in the mine when you realize the next wave is about to start.

Along the way you'll find special resources that will add new abilities, such as a stun laser, a lift that help bring up resources, and even a creature that will help you drill.

I have not been able to put this game down. There's a fair number of things to unlock and try.

There used to be a demo but for some reason they took it down when the full game came out. They should have left that up since it was pretty much the perfect way to show off the full game.

Might finally try to knock out West of Loathing, since it's the only game I ever bought on the soon-to-be-gone-forever Stadia.

Going to try Walkabout Mini Golf Vr for real this weekend. Probably will spend too much time managing the cabaret club and construction company in Yakuza Kiwami 2. And spend an evening with Before Your Eyes so I can remove it from the hard drive and make more space for Vampyr.

It's supposed to rain non-stop in Maryland, so Ghost of Tsushima and Total Warhammer III.

More Star Fleet II playtesting along with some Taxinaut and maybe some Approaching Infinity.

Will likely try to get the other ending in Fell Seal, keep plugging away in Fantasy Life's DLC, hit some more Xenoblade Chronicles, and maybe try out a few things here and there.

I’m playing the ‘try to stop watching The Last of Us HBO trailer every half hour’ game. Also, more Divinity: Original Sin 2 tonight.

Edit: Today, Sunday, I’m working through the many reaction videos for The Last of Us HBO trailer and listening to Hank Williams.

Playing some Empire of Sin on game pass. A mix of xcom combat and mobster overworld sounds like a great combo, but thus far the combat is a little repetitive. There’s an auto-resolve feature but it’s terrible compared to what you can do and can really mess up your progress. Will probably finish out the story campaign, can’t see doing replays even though it’s built for that.

I have become the Trombone Champ!

Dysmantle & Dead Island

Ohhh Dysmantle is great, good choice.

Continuing my playthrough of God of War 2018.

I fired this up 2 years ago and just couldn't get into it. I don't know what was wrong with me! Either I really wanted to play the fresh new hotness or I was burned out on fantasy/melee stuff from binging Dark Souls? Who knows! All I know now is that I made a big mistake writing this one off, because I'm 10 hours deep and it might be one of the best games I've ever played.

Gameplay-wise, sure, it's a bit of a standard Sony 1st party narrative game. A little exploration, a lot of exposition blablabla, but the combat is meaty enough and well-paced. The challenge is higher than I expected which is keeping me far more engaged than its peers (Spider-Man, Uncharted, Last of Us etc. which never resonated with me).

The story is just superb. I don't need to harp on about the specifics, I'm sure I'd be treading old ground. My fiancee and I are just in awe of all the little details and mannerisms between Kratos and Atreus.

And on PS5 it finally has the 60FPS it always deserved. It's a gorgeous game in 4K with all the bells and whistles. I don't want to say it was entirely the console and TV upgrade that made me enjoy it, but it was definitely the impetus I needed to give it a second try!

I'm leveling Astrologian in Final Fantasy XIV and peeing my pants in fear in Resident Evil 7

It's club game time; working on Ch.5 of Ys IX: Monstrum Nox with the JRPG club, and revisiting Troubleshooters: Abandoned Children with the strategy game club.

My wife will be out tomorrow, so it'll likely be a lot of Cyberpunk 2077.

Finally cracked the code for Terra Invicta, and I'm diving into Troubleshooters with the gang.
