One of our cats acts like the bowl is empty and he is going to die if he can see the bottom of the bowl. He also eats straight down in the middle leaving the bowl at least half full. You can trick him just by shaking the bowl up so he no longer can see the bottom.

Sounds like that cat might have whisker fatigue.

Um, where's Teton lake? I went there as a kid and we rented kayaks in this massive lake at the foot of the mountains...

99% sure that's the view from Snake River overlook. I was there just over a year ago, and drove the loop. The big lake is Jackson Lake, which would be off to the right of the photographer. There's also Jenny Lake, which is the really picturesque lake near the foot of Grand Teton, which I think is probably blocked by the plain from that position.

I also learned "teton" is French for "breast", so named by the French trappers that came across it. So the Tetons are essentially the boob mountains, and Grand Teton is Big Boob. If there were a Teton Lake, it would be Boob Lake, and I'm not sure what to make of that.

I just uploaded a panorama I took from Jenny Lake for reference:

Nice Tetons!

They are quite grand.

It should be noted that, at least here in the French parts of Canada (not sure about France), the word "teton" is somewhat inappropriate to talk about that body part, probably equivalent to using the word 't*ts' to talk about them.

Also it's not really used that much anymore, although it was very popular in the yard when I was in elementary school, a few decades ago.

A few years ago, my French-Canadian colleagues and I were in our boss's house, and noticed that he had some pictures of a mountain named "Grand Teton". We had a good chuckle about that.

One might even describe them as "huuuuuge great tracts o' land"

We always fill our dog's bowl in the morning, but she always leaves it until we've had our supper. When she's 100% sure she's not getting any leftovers, she digs in and eats the bowl.

The way she looks at me while I'm putting the dishes away after supper reminds me of the Frasier dog. Goes from cute to creepy fast

Have you tried metal bowls?

Every cat I have had in my adult life did this. I honestly thought they all did.

DSGamer mentioned whisker fatigue up above. It's A Thing. Cat cohabitators should try a much bigger bowl or use a large plate and see if the cat eats more of what is in/on it. We don't use smallish bowls anymore for the 4 furballs we have living with us.

buzzfeed is horrible if you don't have an ad-blocker on so I wouldn't follow the link but here are some of the ones I found funny.

She doesn't have an iron deficiency.

The bowl we have is decent sized (it has to hold enough for three cats) so I think he is just weird and dramatic

Sometimes he will act like the bowl needs filled and then lead us to it and see it is fine and he will start eating.

So. Much. This.

Our cat Suki does this to my wife all the time, mostly in the middle of the night. She will mew at her then if that doesn't work, play with anything in the room that makes noise, and if that doesn't work, pat her on the face with her paw until Kit wakes up. Kit will get out of bed, walk to the front of the house to show her that there is food on the plate, and then come back to bed while Suki eats from the now magically full plate. She trained Suki that this is ok behavior, so she has no one to blame but herself.

Suki isn't dumb enough to pull that sh*t on me.

I've told Kit to put a plate with food on it next to the bed so she can just point at it and go back to sleep.

That MOON picture has been around a long time, including this blog post from 2015 on which I commented.

You can see the location here, although it looks like they changed the street sign a little. Sadly the moon itself was not present when the google car drove past.

Do you think my boss will accept this?

After a grueling hike at Grand Teton National Park

IMAGE(https://i.redd.it/pbkekofvrqr91.jpg)

I’ve only ever driven past the Grand Tetons. I need to go back. They looked gorgeous.

They really are.

We planned to go to Yellowstone this summer but a week before our trip there was the flood so we had to change plans and went to the Tetons. They were glorious.

The Tetons awed me as a kid when my family drove across the country. I can't imagine them being any less awe inspiring 40 some years later. Jackson lake as a kid was of the scale where my sister and I paddled for a long time and the mountains never got closer. It would be fun to revisit there.
