Music and/or Rhythm Games Catch All

I saw that Future Tone was quite favorably reviewed on Bemanistyle, so I was already considering spending some time with it. It's good to see a corroborating opinion here as well.

I haven't played a Miku game, but this sounds like a good one to try.

Other fun facts I've learned while playing:

- On Easy/Normal, there is a section of the song called "Challenge Time". This is generally a more challenging portion of the song and you will still gain points, but messing up does not hurt your life bar

- Primary buttons are Up, Left, Cross, and Circle. However, the corresponding button on either side of the controller can be used. For instance, if an "Up" input is coming up, you can either hit Up on the D-Pad, or Triangle. This helps on difficult portions of songs where you may need to hit an input in quick succession.

- Risk/Reward on Hold buttons just means there isn't a set amount of time you need to hold a button down. However, the longer you hold a button down, the more bonus you get. This means you can be hitting multiple inputs while you have the held button active. Eventually there is a MAX HELD bonus that pops up.

- This game is a little more difficult than other console Miku games. I'm not sure if it is the extra mechanics or the music videos are more intense, but I have been playing a lot of songs on instinct (see my previous post a few months back) rather than being able to follow along. Basically, where I've been playing on Hard in other games, I am very firmly on Normal for the forseeable future.

Was digging around the web for some sources on various DDR things, as you do, and I came across a fairly well maintained database of arcades focused on music games. (most things have been touched in the past 5 years) It not only catalogues them by location, but also allows their inventory of games to be listed along with comments on the condition of the machines. You might have a DDR machine closer to you than you realize!

(They also happen to be a definitive source of simfile packs for stepmania)

Anyone personally played with Rockband VR?

I'm interested, but the price tag is scaring me off. I want more than just VR air guitar for 50 bucks.

I had a few jrpgs in my Big in Japan sale basket late last week. Then I saw that Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Future Tone bundle was around half price in the same sale... So out came the jrpgs and in went Future Tone.

I've had a little time to myself this weekend and put about 4 hours in since then, so addictive. Also seems great for just dropping in for just half an hour when get the chance and with 200+ tracks working through the difficulties should be around for a while. Like you say though at the moment I can't see myself doing very well on anything above normal. I tried an extreme difficulty earlier just to see, nooo way, who can do those? Right now I'm playing on easy to familiarise myself with the tracks, then completing on normal as I go. I've always loved Rhythm games, just never been great at them, middling at best.

Have been looking at streaming a game now and again from PS4, but haven't settled on any game to do so, this might be one. Could be interesting and doable with limited time, drop in and do 15-30 minutes sounds convenient. Not sure how appealing a middle aged fella with ageing reflexes, creaking joints and dubious beat keeping skills playing a game like Future Tone would be, but I might give it a go

ARISE THREAD!

If you haven't heard about Trombone Champ, please avail yourself of it now, I cannot get through a single video about it without laughing so hard my stomach hurts.

It can run on an overclocked potato, and the SEO team has done a perfect job advertising it.
