The GWJ cRPG Club Main Thread Part 2 - Still playing Pillars of Eternity 2

Will second New Vegas. Still mulling options on a nomination.

I'm not sure if this has been voted for or not, but an oldie and a favorite: I'll nominate Might & Magic IV - V: World of Xeen.

I NOMINATE KENSHI

Since it'll be October, I nominate Vampyr.

I'll second Might and Magic IV-V

So with about 24 hours to go we have:

Nominated and Seconded

Titan Quest
Costume Quest
Fallout: New Vegas
Might & Magic IV - V: World of Xeen

Nominated

Iratus: Lord of the Dead
Kenshi
Vampyr

If needs be I'll push out this nomination round an extra 24 hours. I guess Fell Seal really took it out of us, eh?

I'll second Vampyr. Why not.

I seem to have dropped off RPGs lately in favour of clearing the pile of … so many open world games. Some of those could be seen as RPGs “from a certain point of view” but I won’t go there.

I think Pillars of Eternity 2 has been nominated before but that would be my nomination if it’s considered .. nominable?

Otherwise back to Far Cause: Assassins Horizon…

It certainly is, and I’ll even go so far as to second that nomination.

Maybe I wasn’t as clear as I should have been, I don’t really mind what people nominate so long as it meets the rules, but thought it might be nice to see some offerings we haven’t seen before. We do seem to constantly recycle the same games. That’s entirely understandable of course, I was just trying to encourage a little outside the box thinking.

Mind you we did sort of do that for the last game so maybe it’s not that important!

Here's some outside-the-box thinking:

I nominate Legend of Grimrock.

Looked through my steam library and wishlist for some CRPGs that I dont think has been nominated before. Or at least not often.

Gamedec - released september 29 2021, surely that clears the 1 year cut! Seems like a "Definitive edition" patch is also going to arrive on 29th. I'll nominate this.

Tower of Time

Solasta: Crown of the Magister

Also just realized time is running out for those Dragon Age 2 and 3 (re)plays before the next game releases! Looking forward to their inevitable club victories in 2023.

So, I'm going to push this out another 24 hours and we'll finish the provisional "Nominate" round to Thursday at 9pm GMT.

We currently have:

Nominated and Seconded

Titan Quest
Costume Quest
Fallout: New Vegas
Might & Magic IV - V: World of Xeen
Vampyr
Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
Gamedec
Legend of Grimrock

Nominated

Iratus: Lord of the Dead
Kenshi

Updated to include the first couple of posts below

My nomination was Gamedec. If it is eligible anyway. The others were ideas for anyone who wanted some “new” games to nominate

I’ll second Grimrock.

Whoops! Sorry I missed that. Updated.

And consider it seconded. Although at this point I’ve probably seconded enough!

I’ll second Kenshi.

I'll tentatively nominate Star Traders, with the caveat that it's technically a sandbox game with (as far as I can find) no real ending. I think this came up on a previous round of voting, and I don't recall the outcome of that question. But from what I can tell, I think there are "eras" that could mark completion if this one gets traction?

Thanks for extending the deadline!

Yes we went with Star Traders in the last round of nominations and decided it should count. Happy for it to do so again here.

So with an hour or so to go we have:

Nominated and Seconded

Titan Quest
Costume Quest
Fallout: New Vegas
Might & Magic IV - V: World of Xeen
Vampyr
Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
Gamedec
Legend of Grimrock
Kenshi

Nominated

Iratus: Lord of the Dead
Star Traders: Frontier

Last chance to gets votes or seconds in!

I'll second Star Traders: Frontiers.

OK, so that concludes the final nominations for our 20th game of the clubs history, and I think we've end up with a motley selection of games to choose from. Therefore we lead into:

Pick 6 Voting time

So we have 9, potentially 10 candidates entering the Pick 6 Round, looking to be one of the games to make it to ranked choice voting.

In this voting round, pick up to 6 candidates that you'd like to play. This is an unranked round, so just list them in any order. We have some new games, some older games, and a few slightly out there choices.

This round will run until 9pm (GMT) on Monday, 26th October. At that point, the top 5-7 vote getters will be carried over to our ranked voting round. (If two games are tied for 6th place, we'll carry both games to the final round. If more than 2 games are tied for 6th place, we'll drop them and carry 5 games to the final round.)

The Nominees:

Titan Quest: Anniversary Edition
Costume Quest
Fallout: New Vegas
Vampyr
Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
Gamedec
Legend of Grimrock
Kenshi
Star Traders: Frontiers

As for Heroes of Might & Magic: World of Xeen - as far as I can tell this isn't available as a download. I can only find it on ebay. If someone can find me a link then I'll add it, but I couldn't find one I'm afraid. On that basis it's currently in suspension as it really only seems fair to include games that are easily accessible to all members of the club. Sorry I probably should have checked that before accepting the nomination (and seconding it!)

I also feel bad that nobody seconded Iratus, but with 9 games I think we've got enough to be getting on with!

Quick list for easy voting:

Titan Quest
Costume Quest
Fallout: New Vegas
Vampyr
Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
Gamedec
Legend of Grimrock
Kenshi
Star Traders: Frontiers

You all know what to do!

Legend of Grimrock
Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
Fallout: New Vegas

KENSHI
Costume Quest
PoE2: Deadfire
Star Traders: Frontiers
EDIT: Might and Magic
Gamedec

Gotta vote for what I own. Well I guess not Kenshi but I think that was interesting last time.

Costume Quest
Vampyr
Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
Gamedec
Kenshi
Star Traders: Frontiers

This one’s simple for me, since I already played through the other three.
