I just want Homeworld 3 already. It's too bad they never made any campaign DLC for Deserts.

I brought it up in the emulation thread, but Anbernic, one of the better-regarded makers of dedicated emulation handhelds, is having a sale on some of their older (but still good) models.

All of them will play NES / GB / GBC / GBA / Game Gear / Genesis / SNES / PS1 more or less well.

Highlights include the RG353P (the most powerful one on the list, enough to handle most N64 and Dreamcast), the RG280V (the lightest, smallest, and most pocketable, great for SNES and PS1 RPGs), and the RG351MP (more powerful than the 280V, more pocketable than the 353P).

Pretend.

The Homeworld games are some of my favorites, but even I bounced off the remastered version. I had really high hopes for it, but HW1 ended up kind of breaking being put into the HW2 engine (some missions were built around formations and behaviors which don't operate the same in the HW2 engine), and while the HW2 engine brought a lot of QoL improvements and better graphics, the HW2 story isn't as strong.

I fully acknowledge that I view the games with a bit of rose-colored nostalgic glasses, but they are still pretty strong RTS games in their own right. I've played through Deserts of Kharak and thought it was OK, though I can't remember a lot about it so overall I'd have to say it was fairly forgettable. And Cataclysm (now Homeworld: Emergence on GOG) is a really solid game, though not on sale.

Still, I'm definitely looking forward to HW3, it's just a shame it got pushed back.

By all accounts a really great SRPG. Been on my list for a while, this might be the week to grab it.

It’s good. And it has a ridiculous amount of content.

Just to add, the RG351P is an oddball when it comes to its screen ratio: it's a perfect multiple of the GBA, less so for anything else, but it does come in Indigo.

Stasis is free on GOG for the next 30 hours.

Whoops, I missed posting the Epic Freebie(s) of the Week: Destiny 2: Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack and Ring of Pain

Next week: Knockout City™, Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, and Submerged: Hidden Depths

Sweet - been waiting on a sale for Shadow of the Tomb Raider to stretch the legs my new GPU. Zero dollars is the correct sale price!

For this week, Ring of Pain is an interesting diversion. Very odd, tonally, as well as mechanically.

Do you have to install and run D2 with epic to get this? Pretty sure I played it on Steam a while back.

This article indicates that the free pack is only available while playing Destiny 2 (which is also free) via Epic; it's not transferable to Steam. It's been a long time since I last played D2 (on Steam), and I have only claimed this Epic deal so far - haven't installed anything - so I can't provide any evidence to the contrary.

Probably similar to how you can only spend Fortnite credits on the platform you bought or redeemed them on. Which I get, but is annoying.

Both Cauldrons of War games, Stalingrad and Barbarossa, are free/PWYW on itch right now:
https://maestro-cinetik.itch.io/caul...

They're unique-looking smaller wargames with good reviews, and they've been on my radar for a while.

Epic has Shadow of Tomb Raider again and Submerged: Hidden Depths, for the week.

Prime Gaming has Football Manager 22 and Assassin's Creed Origins, as well as The Dig, and a couple others new for the month.

AC: Origins season pass is also down to $11 at Fanatical if you want to add that.

Glad I held out on buying Origins until I had time to play it, which I never have. Maybe I'll find some now.

AC: Origins is lated to be added to PS extra/premium on the 20th as well.

I have all the AC games now except for the first one and Valhalla and I didn't pay for any of them.

As a patient gamer, between sales, freebies, and used console discs I can’t remember the last time I paid full price for any game. I think I bought Dishonored 2 shortly after it launched (and still haven’t played it.)

I think I spent $8 on the season pass for Odyssey after getting it free at Epic. $15 for the Switch 2-pack that was on sale. $5 for the first 2 way way back when they were newish. So yeah probably less than one full priced game on the whole series and I may have everything but Valhalla.

GOG knows my shame.
I played Valhalla the most, but I remember Black Flag because I hated the boat battles.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is available on Luna through Prime Gaming, and a few others. But only until October 1.

Should I buy A Plague Tale: Innocence for my new Steam Deck?

It is on sale for $7.99 which is why I posted here.

Man, you *just* missed it in the August Humble Choice. - Maybe ask in the Game Keys thread in case someone has a duplicate?

Epic free this week: Hundred Days
Also another FTP game item bundle, blah.

Next week: Spirit of the North and The Captain

It’s on game pass and plays well streamed on xCloud if you want to try and see if you like it before buying on Steam.

I liked that game far more than expected. I had heard it was good but it didn’t look like my kind of game. Thankfully game pass let me try without more $ investment or I likely never would have tried it. In the end I really enjoyed it (minus a few small things I didn’t like) and I very much plan to play the next one when it lands on game pass.

Yeah I loved it on PS+. Never would have bought it but tried it for free and it was great, especially with the PS5 improvements. Dualsense was amazing.

Some stuff from my own wishlist on Steam on sale this weekend, at Steam and other places

Pillars of Eternity 2 complete is $15 at Steam, but $11 and change at Fanatical, only 50 cents over it's lowest ever

Chorus is $20 on Steam but $16 at Fanatical, new low price by $2.

Eastward is $17.49, matching its lowest price ever

Orcs Must Die 3 is under $10, lowest price ever. Same for the bundle with DLC, at $18.50

Crosscode is $7, its lowest price ever

Definitely grabbing the last one but thinking about the others.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition is on sale Steam for $15.74. I couldn't resist to see how it goes on the Steam Deck.
