Guild Wars 2 Catch All

How does one find jade bot accessories (sensor arrays etc) on the TP? It's probably obvious but i can't find them.

I use the general search, as I don’t know which category on the TP they are in. Look up Jade Bot “X”. Some will, and some won’t be listed on the TP. I assume it’s because some are craft only. Hope this helps! Btw, some modules are only usable with higher level cores, I think the highest atm required core is 6? But the cores go to 10. If I remember everything correctly. Hope this helps.

100% world completion for the first time on a character. Been a while since I played, but necromancer running around with a full complement of companions definitely feels indestructible.

oh wow, congrats on getting 100% world completion, that's quite the achievement!!! I've only done it on two of my three characters because it's just sooooo long. And yet so much fun.

So with this coming to Steam tomorrow, and the need to roll a new character, I thought I'd try this one because I like soloing:

What do y'all think?

Thank you!

Remember that you would need to be level 80 to be a Druid specifically. Otherwise I think that it would be quite fun!

Oh so that's the final build after leveling? That makes sense.

You’ll have to unlock it with hero points earned by exploring, but yeah. May seem daunting but the expansion hero point things are worth ten regular ones, so it won’t take as long to earn as it seems. just make sure you have heart of thorns to have access to the class.

Got it thank you!

I was under the impression that if you already had an account you couldn't use the Steam client?

Builds are changeable, too, aren't they? Once you get the trait points, or whatever they are called? Specializations?

Yeah, druid is a specialization that has to be unlocked, but even when attained, you won't be "locked" into it. You replace one of your specializations with the druid tree and that activates the class. When/if you want to play something else, you swap it out. It's not a forever thing, just as long as you feel like it.

So then what would y’all recommend as a good solo class for a newbie like myself?

Honestly you should play whatever looks fun. There are some balancing issues. But they don’t really matter until you start doing the really tough end game content (raiding, strikes). I’d recommend just making a couple characters, maybe one from each armor type and seeing which you have the most fun with, and go with that. Each of them have mechanics that makes soloing pretty easy, with difficulty where it’s supposed to be (personal stories, group events).

What kind of playstyle do you enjoy? Pets? Melee? One-button or pattern runs? Ranged? Elementalist? There's a class for everyone, really.

Every class can be used solo, no exceptions. So pick based on your preferred playstyle. Or the opposite. Whatever. It's all fun.

That would be a mess. Most MMOs that come to Steam well after launch just keep using the MMO login and aren't tied to your steam account at all.

I know I personally played City of Heroes and Star Trek Online that way. Thought I remembered a couple others too. Maybe Elite Dangerous? Definitely some other games that just launch from Steam and you need another account to login with to play

The more research I do I think I'll try a necromancer first. Thanks y'all!

Necros are fun! And you can play with deadbuddies, or with some pretty dire environmental and direct magic. Draining, debuffs, poisons, etc. My current main is a necro.

I really expected this and i think it's a good thing because dealing with ArenaNet and accounts is such PITA

Can I use my current Guild Wars 2 account to log into the game through Steam?

No, if you have a Guild Wars 2 account which was created through the Guild Wars 2 website, you cannot log into it through Steam and vice versa. You will need to continue playing on your account using the client from the Guild Wars 2 website. To be able to login from Steam, you must create an account via Steam and use the Steam client to log into the game.

Have to second necromancer. A minion based build for levelling is damn near indestructible while still being pretty fast.

Something like this

Leveling Build - Necromancer

or this
Low Intensity Necromancer

Thank you!

Well ok. Also no linking, no merging or transfer. So start over if you want Steam. Yuck.

I would much rather have the game on Steam for auto updates. But dang, not throwing away my account for that convenience.

I love my Reaper necro for soloing, and I keep a couple of scourge builds for grouping. Though there's no reason not to just do reaper DPS in groups too; depends on the size. I mostly do open-world content not strikes/fractals/raids, so it's not terribly important.

I used more minions while leveling though, and a minion build is a lot of fun too.

Honestly, the game is quite forgiving. Level as you like and optimize at 80. Explore, follow the storyline, do cool stuff. It's all good.

So I just lost an hour using this build and I quite like it. Very straightforward with the attacks as of right now.

Really, though, those builds are just suggestions. You can mess around with them and still be fine. I'd encourage you to be adventurous and creative in your combinations.

Yeah once I get a little more comfy I'm gonna try this staff and wand I found.

It's a great game to just have fun in, and I find folks coming from other MMOs really think they need to min/max. In this game, you don't, at least until you want to do the hard, high-end stuff. The vast majority of the game can be played for fun, half-assed with cool effects and found gear, and no one will give you trouble about it. (Yes, you can also play to be the best, that's cool too. But there are few bottlenecks in progression where you might need to actually consider your synergies and step your game up a bit.)

There are several sites dedicated to GW2 builds. I usually run with any of the open world builds and they do great.

Metabattle
Snowcrow
GW2skills

Also Hardstuck
They have a bunch of good builds. Anything tagged with LI is low intensity, meaning very simple to use and still very effective.
