You know who wore No 80? Cris Collinsworth!
Speaking of, here are your broadcast teams for the 2022 season (and there have been a ton of changes, most of which I've forgotten about):
TNF: Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit?!? (Amazon Prime except for Weeks 1 and 12, which are NBC for some reason)
CBS Sunday: Jim Nantz and Tony Romo are still No 1; I can't find the rest of their pairings.
Fox Sunday: Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen (!!!) are the top team; then it's Joe Davis-Moose Johnston, Adam Amin-Mark Schlereth, Kenny Albert-Jonathan Vilma, Kevin Kugler-Mark Sanchez and Chris Myers (the worst)-Robert Smith.
SNF: Mike Tirico and The Aforementioned Collinsworth (NBC)
MNF: Joe Buck and Troy Aikman (ESPN); Manningcast will be back, but I can't find a schedule.
Looks like NFL Network will get just a handful of games -- international and late-season stuff.
I've really disliked some of these teams and generally go against the grain on what people like to listen to but as I've gotten older, I am starting to enjoy the...coziness?...of a familiar pair.
Buck-Aikman are a quiet enough pair that I'll be wanting to listen to them the most.
Also, I'm old.
I see there's an article today in the Detroit Free-Press that's behind a paywall, but Google says the headline is, "Lions QB Jared Goff embracing deep passing game". We'll see. The ball needs to start going a lot further downfield. Given the line and the pass catchers, there's no excuse for it not to.
100.
I'm pinning my hopes at QB on the notion that in preseason last year, all the local analysts were tugging at their collars when having to talk about Goff, and this year it's been a steady drumbeat of positivity around him pushing the ball effectively downfield. Just don't be boring, and stop chucking it away on 4th down (which I think he did twice last year?).
Goffense wins championships... (and would have if Cooper Kupp was available in the SB).
I think it rolls off the tongue better as COVID Kirk.
But he's getting an injection, though.
A friend of mine noted that this is the first time the ravens had all four of the QBs on the 90 man roster be black. I was embarrassed it’s even a thing. Should be so commonplace that it’s unnotable
The 2004 Jaguars were the first team in league history to have an all-black QB depth chart with Byron Leftwich, David Garrard, and Quinn Gray, but that was only after cutdowns. Doug Johnson was the 4th QB in camp.
The team's general manager at the time was the first black QB ever to start a postseason NFL game, James "Shack" Harris.
Barriers for black players get broken when black executives break through the barriers placed in front of them. The NFL has placed an emphasis on black coaches, but it's only very recently that they've placed much emphasis on paving the way for black executives.
In 2019, there was 1 black GM. We now have a record-breaking 7 black GMs. Funny how that started happening so soon after teams started getting draft pick compensation for having the guys on their staff get hired away to GM positions.

Ozzie Newsome of the Ravens is the first black GM to make the HoF.
And on his way out, he drafted Lamar.

Yeah but it's Ivermectin.
Oh look, Watson's offering up a weak pseudo-apology.
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we're getting a ruling that will keep Watson out of tonight's game. PFT reported that a settlement between the league and player's union could still happen, which would be extremely disappointing given what that settlement would almost certainly look like.
Zach Wilson leaves game with knee injury, a lot of speculation about a ligament tear.
Jimmy might be wearing Gotham Green this year...
Maybe his mom's friend can kiss his booboo and make it better.
But does he still "got that dawg in him?"
Wait...wait...Tyler Huntley and Brett Hundley are on the same team? How many times does the wrong one get yelled at in practice?
Saleh says that Wilson's ACL is "supposed to be intact", but that they have to wait on the MRI to know for sure.
Of course, there's other things in the knee to damage besides the ACL. Also, this is the same Jets medical staff that thought Mekhi Becton had avoided major injury until doing the MRI and, whoops, nevermind, Becton's done for the year.
Did Watson actually apologize? It seems like he only regrets the decisions he made that had an impact on him and those closest to him?
Relatively minor damage to Wilson's knee, out 2-4 weeks. IT'S FLACCO TIME.
Does Zach Wilson got that dawg in him? Is Joe Flacco an elite quarterback?
Is Zach Wilson making moves on Mrs. Flacco while Joe is busy!?

Name a more iconic duo.

Hehe. It's a shame that Laurence Guy and Richie Incognito never played together.

I'm starting to question the authenticity of these jersey pairings the same way I'm questioning HBO's The Rehearsal.
JT O'Sullivan's video of Carson Wentz's week 18 meltdown vs. Jacksonville is great. As a guy who tends more towards understatement, hearing his frustration poke through gives a taste of what the Colts must have been feeling.
