Hidden Gems of Netflix's Watch Instantly

Bummer:

Spoiler:

Considering that lover in hell that Morpheus hasn't forgiven for 10,000 years.
Seems unusually cruel :(

He is not a nice guy. Never was.

I watched Carter. It was vertigo inducing. So many drone shots. I did enjoy it while doing other things and glancing up once in awhile. It went in so many different directions that after a bit I stopped trying to follow the spy plot. Wasnt awful but Ive seen a lot better Korean action.

Agreed on Carter. Made me miss Man from Nowhere.

So I guess he's tyrannical Robert Smith? (instead of Mothra Bert Smith)
Roid rage Edward Cullen?

They did a movie of Welcome Back Carter? I got to see this.

Agreed. He can be a difficult character to like, even as troubled bad boy antiheroes go.

I think the real character development, like a lot of well written stories, is done through the people around him. They want to help him so we want to help him.
There is a lot of exposition from the likes of Corinthian, Lucienne, and even Lucifer and Cain, Abel and Gregory.

The Sandman audio book was really good and might still be free on audible.

A couple months old but I somehow completely missed the creators of Dark had something new coming.

"The passengers, all of different backgrounds and nationalities, are united by their hopes and dreams for a new century and their future abroad. When they discover a second ship adrift on the open sea that had gone missing for months, their journey takes an unexpected turn. What they find on board will turn their passage to the promised land into a nightmare-like riddle, connecting each of the passenger's pasts through a web of secrets."

They had me at "from the creators of Dark". That's all I need to know.

Hell yes loved Dark

Seconded.

Enjoyed the drone shots for about 10 minutes, then I just got bored by the endless fighting where he hardly got a scratch against waves of enemies, felt a bit like a computer game.
Very little dialogue so what there was only explained a basic story and no character development so blink and you miss it.
Shame as I liked the premise of the story and how it was shot, needed more dialogue and less drone stuff. Shout out to the completely ridiculous mid-air scene which was very well done and you actually felt part of the action as you fell to earth.

I finished up Locke & Key season 3 last night. As someone who enjoyed season 1 much more than season 2 (which felt really un-focused and without a lot of new goodies to chew on), I'd put season 3 right in the middle in terms of enjoyability. There were still a couple of points in season 3 that I thought they goofed on, but this series-ending season was satisfying for tying up loose ends.

I grew up in New Brunswick so it's funny to hear it mentioned in The Sandman.

Edit: Ugh! The series ended way too soon.

Two more episodes of sandman and I want to savor them.
So good!

Another vote for Sandman. Want to see more.

I just got to "The Sound of Her Wings," and, gosh, who could have guessed that combining 2 of the series' best issues would be great?

I really enjoyed Day Shift. I’m not generally enthused by Vampire movies but this one has tons of style and some neat new ideas on top of the old. The fight choreography is superb. Completely ridiculous at times (you’ll know the high watermark of that ridiculousness when you see it) but undeniably fun to watch.

Yeah, that was trashy fun.

I felt Sandman had a quality dip on the last arc (last 4 episodes, I think), but still enjoyed it on the whole.

In an effort to drag mini bbk onto something (anything please god) that’s not minecraft related we tried the Avatar The last airbender on Netflix. I was a bit old for it so missed out first time round and we are both loving it. Very much enjoying an episode a night before bed.

Sounds like you're still in the early stages, where it's a very good adventure show and you think you know what all the fuss was about.

I hope you and the kiddo enjoy the trip!

Sorry, I could not disagree more. Highlights:

Spoiler:

Battle of wits with Lucifer
Fiddler's Greens
Corinthian showdown
Unity + Lucienne
Galt's transformation

Also this:
And you... who call yourselves "collectors," until now, you have sustained fantasies in which you are the victims, comforting daydreams in which you are always right. But no more. The dream is over. I have taken it away. For this is my judgment upon you, that you shall know from this moment on exactly how craven and selfish and monstrous you are. That you shall feel the pain of those you have slaughtered. And the grief of those that mourn them still, and you shall carry that pain and grief and guilt with you until the end of time.

-Pretty topical wish fulfillment

Same here.

I'd be curious to know how many people who had no previous knowledge of the comic felt about this show.

I had no prior exposure and loved it. The world was fascinating and the characters were great. Very much looking forward to more.

Also no prior info on the sandman but I loved the world and characters.

It was indeed dumb as hell, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I hope they make a sequel.

Can I announce that I am delighted to have arrived late at the 'Love, Death & Robots' party?

I don't think I've seen anything desperately original (bar the fantastic and strange 'Jibaro' in Season 3), but there are a several stories and characters that I'd happily watch again feature-length episodes.

I'm working my way backwards through the three Seasons... because Netflix - oddly - is playing them for me that way. But my favourites are:

Bad Travelling
The Very Pulse of the Machine
Night of the Mini Dead
Mason's Rats
Pop Squad
All Through the House

Yeah Netflix does that with a few shows including Black Mirror. Wouldn't have mattered until they had callbacks in later seasons.

Also that Hassan Minaj weekly news show a few years ago, but at least that makes sense since you might want the most recent news episode.

Valley of the Dead is really entertaining.

'Skins' or Pieles in Spanish is a wild ride

I loved it!
