Mention of Cook Serve Delicious as next week's Epic freebie has been pulled. Scandal?

Huh. The last time something like that happened was in early 2020 when Epic deferred from offering "Pandemic" as a freebie, for some strange reason.

Damn, I know I'm usually behind on my news, but what tragic cooking-releated event did I miss this week?!

Any gems on the Night Market Festival sale?

Detention is the only game I've played from that list, I think. It's a horror point n click set (and made) in Taiwan. Worth buying if getting some scares while learning a little Taiwanese history and culture sounds appealing.

I liked Detention for the most part. Only had to cheat on a music puzzle. The game isn't scary but it is a horror game centered on a real event in history which made it more interesting.

It's up today.

Next week looks like an add-on for FTP game Rumbleverse. Boo.

Death Stranding is $10 at best buy.

But still $10 to upgrade to the directors cut? Hm

Edit: Directors Cut is on sale for $40 so I guess buying PS4 plus upgrade is still way cheaper

Gotta build that Smash clone interest somehow. Although I've seen some articles stating it was fairly popular already.

Since Smash is more than enough party brawler for my entire capacity for interest in all of fighting games, I have no reason to even consider looking at Rumbleverse ever.

King's Quest, Space Quest, etc on sale on GOG.

I think you are thinking of Multiversus, not the wrestling/melee battle royale that is Rumbleverse:

Oh I guess you are right. I care even less about Rumbleverse, then. Can't even be bothered to remember it was something else.

From the cover it looks like someone suggested a cross between Smash and Fortnite, hoping that attempting to poach customers from two different dedicated communities would balance out into a sustainable player base.

So I wrote the above and then went and watched a gameplay video of it... I stand by what I wrote. I'm pretty sure it will be seen as disappointing by both communities, as well.

I was surprised at how good Multiversus is and how much I've played it. I'll give this other thing a shot if it's free enough.

There's a fantastic bundle on Humble Bundle right now, includes Battletech and all DLC, Age of Wonders: Planetfall and all the DLC, all three Shadowrun games, Pillars of Eternity, and Knights of Pen and Paper I and II, for just over $17 AUD. I'd snap that up in a heartbeat if I didn't own all of it already.

The tweakable charity cut goes to NARAL Pro-Choice America Foundation and the National Network of Abortion Funds.

Redwing, thanks for sharing!

Hmmm Doom 64 is free on epic today. Funny enough I bought it yesterday on GOG. That's $2 wasted. I got to stop buying games.

On the plus side, I sold almost $200 worth of games in week.

And next week's Epic freebie will be Ring of Pain.

Spoiler:

As an aside, Epic required me to complete a CAPTCHA before I could claim Doom 64 today. I think that's the first time I've seen Epic do CAPTCHAs - but I've never before seen one that needed me to identify living rooms. I assume that these are used to help train AIs to identify traffic lights, school buses, trucks, airplanes - things that a moving vehicle might need to identify as part of "autopilot" driving - what could identifying a living room be for??

The one I got was to pick all the pictures with lions but only the ones with their eyes closed.

You would be 1000% correct. Since it’s inception Google has used ReCaptcha for free digital labour and classification services. Instagram does something very similar with its “Post a picture of your first pet!” labels and tagged stories.

Google is way aggressive with it these days, feels like at least once a day. Booo.

I always feel dirty whenever I have to allow Google java-scripts to touch my computer so I can do a re-captcha to access a website

Free is a deal.

RIP Rob Hale. They made both games, Waves and Waves 2, free now.

The Homeworld franchise is on deep sale. Everyone should at least try those games. They are incredible.

Even if you like RTS games, they can be meh...

TROUBLESHOOTER: Abandoned Children is on Steam sale again.

By all accounts a really great SRPG. Been on my list for a while, this might be the week to grab it.
