Interesting on the Webb thing, I hadn't heard about this. Working from several articles and Wikipedia, the short version seems to be: Webb held high government positions during the "Lavender Scare" era (during which many thousands of gay and lesbian federal employees were arrested/fired/worse). But Webb didn't play any role in putting those policies into place, and there seems to be no particular evidence that he supported them (or opposed them).

Or at least that's how things stand now. The history is more complicated, due to the fact that Webb's wikipedia page used to feature several homophobic quotes, which later turned out to be misattributed.

I for one think the A Tribe Called Quest telescope is a marvel and am indifferent to the name

So… Who is trying to smear him, and why? If indeed it’s a smear.

If I say I want to listen to music with crunchy guitar what music do you think of?
If I say I want to listen to music with female vocals what music do you think of?
What if I asked you for music that has both?

I don't know if you'd call it "crunchy guitar", but Halestorm is where I'd go.

If you mean "crunchy" as "a little bit of overdrive"... I don't have much to offer.

If you mean it as heavier than that...

Okay, maybe Kawaii Metal is not crunchy vocals, but the doom metal band makes up for it. Everyone should listen to BabyMetal.

Oh, and if Otyken has not shown up in your searches, well... There you are.

The Linda Lindas

Well, I'm now enjoying BabyMetal and Wet Leg

Since JRock is on the table, I offer up Seagull Screaming Kiss Her Kiss Her

And Honourable mention to L7 for being a great band! And I think in the spirit of the original request about female vocalist and crunchy guitar (whatever that really is) it's worth mentioning early Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

No Babes in Toyland? Disappointed I am.

I have no idea what a crunchy guitar is.

Electric guitar amped to the point of audio distortion.

So I just started selling stuff online through the major sites. All the sites have ways to pay for and print shipping labels so I can just drop the package off in a dropbox.

This doesn't seem to be possible if I sell something outside of the major sites, correct? Like if I sold something here I'd have to go to the post office like some kind of dirty peasant AND TALK TO PEOPLE.

Do I have this correct or can you in fact pay for a shipping label to drop off your package when not using ebay, facebook and the like?

Anyone made use of any of the online 3D printer places? I found something I would like to get printed, but don't have a 3D printer and don't want to bother the guy I know who has one. The thing I want to get printed is off of printables.com and is freely downloadable in .3mf file format if that matters any.

You do not have that correct. USPS will let you buy and print mailing labels online, as do Fedex and UPS.

USPS also has pre-paid "If it fits it ships" boxes/envelopes you can get and either drop in a dropbox or let your local mail-person pickup.

Oh sorry I knew about that. I should have been more specific. I'm currently been selling video games so the heaviest thing I shipped is 6oz or less and fits in 10x9 padded envelope. I could use priority but it would be dumb to do so since it would cost more than double vs 1st class.

Somehow I missed the option to buy and print shipping labels. Thanks guys.

Oh gross, the option to buy and print labels is only for priority.

You can do it via paypal, it has its own built in label printing service (I think it is stamps.com on the backend if I remember right).

Great to see everyone's take on my odd music question.

Since nobody else mentioned them, I feel obligated to go with the three Kings that essentially created blues crunch and inspired all who came after

Albert King

B.B. King

Freddie King

I was lucky enough to see BB King in concert before he passed. He was north of eighty, arthritic and diabetic, and two big stagehands had to help him out onstage, sit him down, and set Lucille in his hands. I was nervous; I'd loved his live albums for a long time, and I didn't want my experience of his music replaced with something... lesser.

Then he started to play, and it was magical. Just as good as the recordings I loved, but better because it was happening right here live in front of me.

He didn't have as much stamina as he'd had as a younger man, he took long breaks between songs, but that was almost better, because during those breaks he told stories about growing up in the south in the Bad Old Days when it wasn't just the cops who could beat you up or kill you for being black and get away with it. That makes it sound depressing, but the way he told it made it funny too. He told a story about sneaking into the town square in the dead of night to drink from the whites only water fountain, just to see what that white-people water tasted like. And he told stories from later in his life, too, touring the country almost constantly for seven decades

Amazing, amazing show. RSVP BB King.

Yeah, I saw him in Las Vegas in the early 2000's, can't recall when exactly, and had the exact same experience. He was phenomenal, despite barely looking like he could make it onto the stage.
