Was that a Fleabagish aside to the camera? As for

Daredevil

there's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it shot of that character in the teaser from two months ago, and they look more like Vigilante from Peacemaker.

Ain't no "ish", Phoebe Waller-Bridge could probably sue for infringement the way they're doing it.

Given that She-Hulk is probably only beaten by Deadpool for her 4th-wall breaking abilities, a dollop of Fleabag isn't be the worst thing the show could do.

I still think the show should lean a bit more Harvey Birdman, myself, but Harvey Birdman already exists, and they've literally already made Gender-Swapped Harvey Birdman.

(I also wish it would've been animated, but that was always just that, a wish.)

EDIT: Also, I see what the online talk was about now, Jameela Jamil looks like a rejected character from GLOW.

Harvey Birdman was a very special thing.

After all the great stuff Marvel unveiled yesterday, here’s an Interesting article about what Marvel did NOT announce. It’s crazy how much material they have available.

I was bummed they didn’t mention Armor Wars at all.

I've been, for all intents and purposes, out on Marvel after Endgame, but the Wakanda Forever trailer is basically perfect. Hell, I don't know if the film has a shot in hell of living up to that.

Yeah, I've been increasingly leaning towards the direction of "I should not give a sh*t about any of this at all", but that trailer reeled me back in. That looks like a goddamn moviefilm.

The Wakanda Forever trailer was awesome, but I kept getting reminded what a sh*theel the actress who plays Shuri is. It really kind of soured it for me.

I’ve been in the same boat as you since Endgame, just picking the individual shows/movies that actually interest me since then. Wakanda Forever definitely fits that bill. I’ll check Thor 4 when it hits Disney+. Hawkeye was overall really good. Everything else I’m happy skipping.

I literally haven't watched anything, as I had already hit Marvel Fatigue before Endgame even came out, but as I said, it's a functionally perfect trailer. The only thing I'll knock it for is that that amazing Bob Marley/Kendrick Lamar mashup will only exist in the trailer and will never be released as its own song.

I was thinking last night that probably part of what made HB so good was that the episodes were what, 15 minutes a pop? They had to get those jokes in quick and fast. Brevity and wit, etc.

I think that's it. The comics for these two characters have long broken the 4th wall, so it's just putting it on screen.

Deadpool and Fleabag both came out in the same year btw.

The movie and the show... The comics were breaking 4th wall before those.

I think they hit it in that article. D23's coming in September. Keeping their powder dry for their own show it seems. After all, Disney's not even had a comic con show for a bit, so they've gotten used to controlling their whole deal with D23 and Star Wars Celebration.

My comment I came to post was they're saying the new Daredevil show is going to be a whopping 18 episodes.

Wow. Hope they have a good plot. The knock on the Netflix series was that there wasn't enough story to fill out 13 episodes, but now they're doing 18?

Wonder if there's going to be a lot of procedural "case of the week" stuff? Agents of Shield would pad seasons with some "monster of the week" episodes for awhile.

3 seasons of 6 eps maybe?

I’ve been noticing networks pre-announcing season renewals before the current season had even started. Likely, to distance themselves from Netflix which has the well-deserved reputation for cancelling shows too soon.

"It’s set to release in Spring 2024 with an 18-episode season."

My understanding of some of the Netflix split seasons is something to do with actor pay scaling with "seasons", so if they split a season over two releases, their pay is less. Also ties into Netflix canceling shows that are popular before the fourth season in many cases.

Not sure I buy that. Seems like lawyers would tear that up, but maybe it's a union thing that's somehow allowed.

maybe they plan on using the extra episodes to backdoor pilot some of the other Netflix properties to gauge interest in future series for the “failed” characters or adjacent series like Heroes for Hire.

So they're putting a suited Cassie Lang on the Quantumania poster?

Bring on the Wong cameos.

Indeed. Love Wong. I think I like him more than Strange.

I would watch a Wong movie before I watched a Dr. Strange 3. Or a lot of the announced slate, actually.

Brandon Sanderson agrees with my take on Multiverse of Madness losing the thread of Wandavision. Calls it taking a dump on the show.

He was perfect in The Martian.

Another She Hulk teaser/scene:

Finally started Ms Marvel this weekend. First 3 were fantastic!

Just got back from seeing Thor Love and Thunder.

Hoo boy this movie was dumb and hokey and cheesy… and I LOVED every minute of it.

I sure hope the internet keeps telling me the next Marvel thing isn’t very good so I can go in with low expectations and then wind up really enjoying them. (See Thor, Moon Knight, and Dr Strange.)

Spoiler:

They were right about The Eternals though. That was just a bad movie.

Spoiler:

Thor as a character shouldn't be that dim and oblivious any more, though. I found most of it very disappointing.

To me, he’s always been this way when it comes to his emotions. Taika Watiti just leans into it more. But when it comes to getting the bad guy (ie punching things) he’s pretty consistent. I didn’t find his character any different from Ragnarok and Infinity War/Endgame.

I went back and head canon'd the movie to be almost entirely unreliable narrator through Korgs eyes. That makes it make more sense.
