If you see me on send me a message. I'll carry.

K! I will probably play some tomorrow. Did a little more exploring this evening.

Just found that it's possible to get to the very tippity top of Raya Lucaria.

Through the tunnel or somewhere different?

Their is an imp locked cave on the west side of the cliff that Raya Lucaria is on. Just another area that I hadn't found yet.

After taking a break I re-specced into a more pure faith and strength build following a guide but I really miss having putrid breath. I think I will respec again so I can use it. Its just dang handy as most enemies have a weakness for scarlet rot.

I am about halfway through the volcano manor quests and discovered I had missed a whole section in the shaded castle so I am going through that now.

Where’s my Seldom ring players at? Any progress or have you moved on from it?

I have finished! It took about 200 hours total, seldomly playing since release day back in February, and I think I was around level 150.

After dying against Malenia many times I gave up there and decided to just head to the end of the game. The only boss that really gave me a lot of trouble in those end times was the Elden Beast. It took a quite a few tries, really getting the dodging down right, and going back to get a couple spells I didn't happen to pick up during my playthrough. I'm not sure how "good" or "bad" the ending I got was but it sure had a really cool image before the credits rolled...

Spoiler:

... I had to look this up just now, it was the Lord of Frenzied Flame ending.

I didn't use any guides during my playthrough (except for some particularly tough boss fights) so that just happened to be what I ended up with while making my own choices and exploring on my own. I'd call Elden Ring one of my favorite games of all time and I'm definitely planning on doing an NG+ playthrough, with a guide this time. First I'm catching up on a couple older games though, like right now it's FF7 Remake, which is a great palate cleanser.

One question, should I take the time to defeat Malenia before starting on that NG+ or just go ahead and start with all the stuff I've got now?

Malenia does give you a remembrance, so you would miss out on some boss weapons if you don't kill her.

And it's not cannon but I think you got the morally good ending.

Gotcha, yeah I figured that would be the case with Malenia. I should try again soon before my muscle memory for the game goes away just to get that remembrance.

Here's my final loadout very close to the end of the game:

If you really want to kill her, now is the time.

If you struggle more than you'd like, don't be afraid to summon help or look up some specific builds to beat her. You can rush her down super hard with the right blood build. I saw videos of kills from a couple buddies of mine that beat her in 2 or 3 attempts with little more than summoning their mimics and button mashing.

I took her down with my ROB build by summoning my mimic while a Shabriri's Woe was equipped then swapping it out. Made her a lot less likely to target me with her phase 2 initial attack.

The rivers of blood + mimic tear + as over leveled as possible was my route to victory. That special ability was.... very effective.

My easiest fight against Malenia was using Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear. If you have the stat's to use it then level it to 9 and give it a try. Make sure Shard of Alexander, Godfrey Icon, and Lord of Bloods Exultation are equipped. Godfrey Icon should be the only talisman you're not currently using with your ROB build.

I am up to part 40 of Keith Ballard's playthough - wow this game is long. I plug away a bit at home but I can't imagine that I will ever finish it.

Oh, I like his calm voice over. I think I'll start watching it.

He is worth watching.

I just noticed he posted part 80 today!

How freaking huge is this game?

Very huge!

I wish Kay Plays would make a comeback for Elden Ring. I loved her Dark Souls let's plays.

I feel so seen!

I watched sooooo many hosts die trying to do that platforming part.

Nearly done, I've just stalled out on the final, 2-boss boss fight.

Not being able to refill potions in between them is a doozy.

Maybe I shouldn't have killed that prawn merchant guy about 100 hours earlier.

So, my daughter painted a gift for me, and I felt like showing it off.

that's great! She's very talented.

You can still buy them at roundtable bell-hag. Or do you have to friend him to get the bell?

That's bad ass Clav!

You get the bell but lose the ability to purchase the prawns.

Seeking a lifeline here. Bought Elden Ring on PC. Played 1h55 and Steam refunded. I want to go back. However, not sure if the game gets slightly easier as a you level. Got destroyed over and over near the beginning of the game at a camp near a castle I believe. A few kings and dogs. A knight with a spear and shield seems to be able to block my ranged attack. I am playing as an Astrologer so I can use ranged attacks as I thought that would make it easier. I like, so far, everything about the game except how punishingly difficult it seems to be.

Perspectives?

For most of the game, if you are feeling frustrated by an area, you can go somewhere else, explore, and eventually get more powerful. If this is your first Souls-type game then there is a learning curve that this game is very good at providing (compared to the rest of the series).

Yup.

You can pick up a really good staff and spell without fighting anything, but you may not find them organically as they're in an area that starters don;t usually visit. They give you a good leg up at the start, when you're especially squishy.

Here are some guides for them:
