Tscott, you can't imagine how fast I ordered that after seeing your post!

I should have ordered quicker. I just got an order update saying that it’s back ordered already and may take longer to arrive. Oh well, as long as I get it eventually I’ll be happy.

And I’m already debating if I want to eventually order a second one for MOCs. I already have 3 ships built of my own design based on the classic space theme.

Oh man, I loved the Galaxy Explorer set when I was a kid. Of all the space LEGO sets I had, that was the one that I rebuilt the most. Now that my kids have my old stuff, my daughter has built that set several times as well! I'm definitely going to order this one when it's more readily available.

I can't get the picture working, but finish Optimus yesterday. Really fun build.

As much as I loved the classic Castle sets, I feel like $400 is a bit steep here:

Anyone else think so? Or have redeeming points that I’m not seeing?

The $100 medieval castle set from last year seems to have all the same functionality, though obviously many fewer pieces.

Just announced and instantly pre-ordered by me: LEGO Galaxy Explorer set 10497.

I never had the Galaxy Explorer as a child, but the similar one that was a bit smaller, whose name currently escapes me. It was probably my favorite/most memorable set outside of the Blacktron ones.

Times like this make me wish I wasn't banned from LEGO Shop at Home.

It’s big but not $400 big.

I agree a bit overpriced but I will buy it either way. The old castle sets have always been my favorite.

I've definitely found Lego seems to have some odd price points for various sets over the last few years.
I think it's them trying to get more tiers and making sure the customers follow along.

Give me my blue and black space police sets!

Without conducting an actual data survey, my gut tells me it's a minifig thing. Higher number of minfigs tends to equal a higher price point, even for equivalent numbers of bricks.

Not many minifigs in the Technics series, but sure are high prices.

Good point. Maybe Technics charge a premium for being the "grown-up engineer Lego"?

$400 smackers is indeed a lot but my oh my do I want that castle... the castle theme was my favorite back in my youth. Many fond memories of coming up with my own castle creations using the pieces from Black Falcon's Fortress and Black Monarch's Castle! (Yes, I had to look up the names, but I remember the sets all too well otherwise)

Not sure if I'll end up being able to justify a purchase, will certainly be on the lookout for a discount in the next couple years. And I'm also quite tempted if I can snag that 3-in-1 castle set that's out there already if I spot it on a discount.

My brother had the Black Monarch's castle, and I made it many times. Loved that set.

My nephew was given the 2013 king's castle set when he was too young to build it. I think bags 1 and 2 were opened before he got tired of building the set, then those parts got used in random builds, while the rest of the bags sat unopened in the box. It hurt me every time I saw that box over there.

***NOT A LEGO POST!!! NOT A LEGO POST!!! NOT A LEGO POST!!! ***

Discovered this NOT LEGO Star Wars Rebels Phantom (the ship that breaks off the Ghost) on that evil river company. It is a terrible build: the instructions are terrible, the order of doing things is weird, and if you look at it weird it literally falls apart. I completed the instructions and then had to reassemble it with glue. Also, there are at least a dozen pieces that, as written, will not fit.

But with some customization, crazy glue, and some real LEGO, I have something I think looks really cool.

Do yourself a favor, don't but this. It looks cool, but it was a pain to put together.

I was going to ask why not just buy the official one but it is going for $250. Man I haven't even opened the one I have yet. Might have to sell it. Only bought the set for the minifigs.

I bought Starry Night for my household, gonna be so cool.

I also was half motivated by the classic Castle bonus set

The only Lego I now own and have put together is the Tallneck. I attempted one of those Lego knockoff sets my parents sent me of the Space Needle. But after much frustration, I have relegated it to a dark corner of my bookcase because its half-finished and if I stare at it too long it will fall apart.

Lego is the best. The knockoffs suck.

I know I am firmly in the hands of Big Lego.

You might be wondering why does black panther need a mech. To that I say shut your face. Its cool that's why he needs a mech. Honestly, thought this was pretty dumb. Then when I got I thought it was awesome sauce and bought two other armors. For some reason most of these mechs are running over $30 dollars. The ones I got were around $7 but I thought they all came out at the same time. Maybe lego canceled the ones going for top dollar.

Headcannon: BP fixed up the hulk-buster after Bruce left it in Wakanda and gave it a paint job.

Spoiler:

But he forgot to disable the security system. That's what killed him.

Set number 76179. I like that the bikes are built up and are a normal size instead of being super big. Added kickstand to catwoman's bike and used the muffler as a kickstand on batman's bike. Also will add a second kickstand to catwoman's bike but I'm missing the part I need.

The batsignal glows in the dark and is kind of dumb. Batman has a weapon rack connected to it that makes no sense to me. I'm going to remove the rack and see if I can build weapon storage on the bike.

Been thinking about what to do about the alt heads and hair. I have no place to store them on the bikes and head would look weird. Might just have to get some tiny tiny bags and label with tiny tiny labels.

One odd thing is that catwoman comes with a chain instead of a whip. I have lego whips so I know they make them. Seems weird not to include a whip for her.

I'd give this 8 bats out of 10. The minifigs look good and the bikes are cool.

That is nice.

I like the 2600 but I LOVE the joystick. It wasn't just for the 2600, it was also for the Atari 800 the Atari 130XE and the Atari ST.

The side builds are... too good? I guess they're going for the cover art, but, I'm not sure I think that's the best use of parts.

The build I did based on Atari's Adventure is a lot simpler, but more accurate to the actual game:

My wallet is so happy that I’m a few years too young for that nostalgia.

Same here. I dig it as a model, but the NES was my first console*, and the 2600 isn't as much a thing for me.

*I think technically my first might be the Colecovision ADAM, but theoretically that was more of a computer, though I'm hesitant to call that my first gaming PC.
