Nintendo Switch - Games You Can Play Right Now

Anybody else grab the new TMNT game? Got a couple friends that purchased on Switch so I did as well. Maybe we can find some co-op time this weekend?

Yeah, I grabbed it. The wife was basically begging for it. Probably will play 4 player with the kids at some point, too.

I haven't yet because it's on Game Pass, but I already have access to enough Switch controllers for 6 people so if the opportunity arises to play with a full group it'll be cheaper to double-dip.

Unless somehow I have 2 friends who prefer playing the game with Rock Band guitars...

I played a lot of Neon White today. It's a first person speedrunning type of game along with some exploration and social links? You are a condemned person tasked by angels to clear out the demons in heaven, so it's all a little weird. However, the gameplay is great and it makes it really easy to keep trying to improve your run.

I'm sure it's out too late for SGDQ, but I'm looking forward to speedruns of this game.

I also really like it. I need to try with the pro controller or adjust the sensitivity, the aiming feels way too stiff with the joycon and defaults.

Side note: can anyone find the MH Rise thread for me? Expansion demo needs impressions

Rise Thread

If anyone is playing Neon White on the Switch, feel free to send me a friend request. I'm up to the 5th set of missions, and it's quite good.

I got Death's Door over the 4th of July sale, and what a treat it is! I was waiting for this one to come out on Switch, and it just feels perfect for handheld and some bite-sized gaming. I'll love taking this one on the bus.

Same!

Just haven't played it yet because I've been working on PC games the last few days. But I expect it to be perfect for handheld like you say

I played it on Xbox back when it came out. Think it was my #2 game last year.

Death's Door was #3 for me, and only because it had to compete with Metroid Dread and Horizon Zero Dawn. But my entire top 5 was super close / 2-5 being interchangeable.

I think Tunic will inhabit a similar top spot for me this year as most of what I've played has been just ok, but Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is coming.

I may have asked this before but it has been a year or more so

Any recommendations for games that work well on the Switch Lite? I bought one recently becuase I like toys and I had forgotten a couple things - 1. it is super comfy. Just a great design 2. the screen is a lot smaller than the regular Switch.

This means I want to use it but a lot of what I play just looks to small on the tiny screen. Like X-Com just doesn't work very well, nor does Pillars Of Eternity (which I picked up on sale)

Anyone have something they played on the Lite that they can say looked great at the small screen?

Anyone remember Picross 3D for the Nintendo DS? I picked up a similar game on the Switch called Voxelgram. You mark and remove blocks on a rectangular prism in order to reveal a figure. It does not control as well as I remember Picross 3D controlling and it feels a bit more finicky. However, the basic puzzles work and for $4.79 (on sale from 8 bucks) it was worth trying out.

I picked it up on Steam today (on sale for $5) and dropped a few minutes into it. The controls definitely take some getting used to, but I'm starting to see the appeal. It's certainly not a complicated game, at least from what rules I've seen so far, but I think I dig it.

You start off with a solid 3d grid of voxel blocks, and the goal is to REMOVE the voxels that are NOT part of the solution; you can also flag voxels as definitely part of the solution to help you navigate, but that's entirely optional. And so, I say that it feels kinda like chiseling a statue out of a big block of marble.

The sculpture is already complete within the marble block, before I start my work. It is already there, I just have to chisel away the superfluous material.

I've ended up spending more time with Voxelgram and it's growing on me. Each diorama has a nice escalation of puzzles that increase in difficulty, so it is nice to sit down, do a set of puzzles, and feel accomplished.

Some of the puzzles can be quite big, and I found that seeing the numbers got a bit difficult in handheld mode.

Unlike regular Picross, I've kept on the hints for when you make a mistake, and I'm grateful for the undo button. It feels easier to make a mistake.

I just saw that Coromon just got on the Switch a few weeks ago. It's a Pokemon-ripoff that is getting good reviews, particularly for some quality of life features. It's very much on my Interested list, but am playing other things for now.

And also Tactics Ogre: Reborn has been announced as coming out for several platforms, Switch included, in November.

So some fun things for people who like RPGs.

As has been the case for years - to many games! But I will probably get tactics ogre

Anyone here pick up Live A Live? I just ordered a copy from Amazon.

It's very pretty so far. It's got that Triangle Strategy 2.5 look that Square has been going for. I've been playing the old martial art master first.

So Wreckfest is on sale for the first time ever so I picked it up. My god, it's astounding. If you told me I was playing the PC version I'd believe you.

There's occasional Wreckfest nights organized by us Racing Dorks. It's usually announced in the Discord and Dorks forum thread. It's hella good time.

So, this Wreckfest is good? I’ll have to look into it.

Wait for Switch players?

Cult of the lamb playing pretty good so far. Text is too small of course

Edit: it was easy to soft lock the game.

I can only apologize - I got excited at the notion of fresh meat to crush under my wheels.

As someone who's easily excitable (sometimes to a fault) I totally get it.

Wave Race 64 y'all. Came out Friday. Been a long time.

Love that game, but it’s not worth signing up for the expansion pack for me. I believe I have it on my Wii U if I really have a craving.

I had some credit to use at a local game shop, so I took a chance on a couple of games I normally wouldn’t have and I’ve been quite surprised.

First off, Fire Emblem: Three Hopes. I have never played a Warriors game, before, so I’ve been avoiding this game even though I loved Three Houses and finished 3 of the paths.

Anyway, the game is really fun so far. I like that there’s light tactical components and the same production values of Three Houses in terms of sound cues, voice acting, etc. I haven’t figured out if there’s class changes yet, but I think I will enjoy the game even if it doesn’t have that.

The other game I picked up is Pac-Man World Re Pac. I’ve become a huge sucker for 90s to early 00s 3D platformers, even if they have a lot of jank. In this game you run around a Mario 3D World-like world with some simple puzzles and then when you eat a power pellet you turn giant and briefly do some traditional Pac-Manning. Also quite a surprise, especially at $30, since I never played the original.
