Hades - by Supergiant Games (Bastion, Transistor, Pyre)

I'm also hunting those last few duo boons. I've been activating the keepsake for whichever boon flavor I'm hunting plus grabbing as many boon offering rerolls as I can get. But still have 3 duo boons left that elude me.

Spoiler: Ares prophecy spoiler

I recently had the Ares prophecy foretold(10,000 enemies slain). After playing the game for 70 hours I'm at 3,000 slain. I'm curious if anyone out there put in the ~200 hours to fulfill that prophecy?

The Ares prophecy showed up for me when I had about 40h into the game. I already had 12k kills by that point.

I suspect you're encountering a bug. Maybe you already have 103k kills?

Same, I'm definitely under 100 hours, and I popped that prophecy.

I'm probably gonna get really frustrated with the RNG trying to get the last duos and legendaries. I just had a run where I had all the prereqs for two or three of the gods I needed legendaries from, but none of them came up by the end. Also missing a single Daedalus upgrade for the shield, while I've gotten the prophecies for all the other weapons already. Grrr.

Good point. 3,000 dead in 70 hours is less than 1 kill per minute which can't be right. Maybe there's a bug. Maybe I missed a 0 and I'm at 30,000 kills. I'll have to check after I finish my current run.

Ya, I'm missing a single Daedalus upgrade for the spear, shield, and bow. Come on RNG!

I think I just missed a 0. Next time I got to Ares I fulfilled the prophecy.

I got a bit into a rut after completing my first run, getting through to the Big Boss but getting my ass handed to me almost every time. But I'm back in business, ironically during a run with my least favorite weapon (the Shield). I got a few boons boosting my dash damage, so until Elysium I ran amuck zipping through enemies. In Elysium I got Epic Doom + additional 4 enemies hit on the Shield Special (or as I like to call it: the Xena).

I now completed runs with each weapon, and have 2 more to go until I hit the 10 run benchmark. I'll probably tie up some achievements and Youtube the other endings after that. This will be my GOTY, and sneaks into my top-5 GOAT as well.

I felt like completing the mirror or the full set of friendships was worth and achievement. But apparently not.

I love the game. I saw credits on Switch. In bought it on PS4(5). And I haven't touched it other than a few runs since I saw credits a few years ago.

Don't get me wrong, I love the game. I just can't see myself in that headspace of a run or two a day to get all those chievos or extra content that I can (and have) seen on YouTube.

Yeah, I was slightly surprised by what was and wasn't a trophy/achievement in a few places too.

I finished them all, but used God Mode to do it. It turns the endgame into a relaxing comfort food game, when you have almost no chance of losing a run.

Arise thread! Not sure why but Hades has finally floated to the top of my list and I have jumped in on PS5 and so far I am loving it, it really feels like Supergiant perfected their style here. I have so far:

Spoiler:

reached Theseus twice but he has destroyed me both times

It feels like healing is at a premium here as I have only encountered healing type things once is that right? Other than that looking forward to making some progress.

If you've made it to Theseus a couple of times already, you're doing pretty good! There are a few upgrades that will help you get a bit more healing, but generally, it is always at a premium.

I have gotten to the last boss 3 or 4 times, but even at like 88% God mode, I still haven't beaten them because I am bad at video games. Any tips for builds at this stage would be appreciated. The number of options in the mirror is o erwhelming now, and I accidentally spent all of my blood points on one weapon and I can't get them back. Easy mode still isn't easy enough for me.

Been a while but I'm sure I have posts in the thread about my first win or a few more after that. Probably was shield or spear or bow. Either protection for you or better range on weapon helps you stay alive.

Then there was one of the mirror revive powers that was definitely better than the other for boss fights. It's all a bit fuzzy after 2 years

There are a couple of builds I’d recommend, but it’s been a while since I’ve played so I won’t remember all the details and names of things. One’s based on defense, one on offense. If twitch skills aren’t your forte, I think the defensive build will be better for you than the offensive one:

  • Defense: the shield, + “revenge” boons. I think those say they trigger when you take damage, but they actually trigger when you’re attacked. Keep the shield up and let Hades kill himself. Ares, Aphrodite, and Demeter have revenge boons. And, I think each of those imposes a status effect. So, you should pick the option in the mirror that gives you extra damage when an enemy suffers from 2+ statis effects at the same time.
  • Offense: the gloves, especially the hidden option. The hidden option not only gives you a status effect that boosts damage (both given & received), but gives you bonus dashes. Pair this with the mirror options that give bonus damage with status effects, + the one that gives you short invincibility if you dash right in time. Because you have bonus dashes, it’s easier to trigger that invincibility. Pair this with boons that trigger damage in a small area around you when you dash, like from Dionysus or Demeter. Dance around Hades, dodging and striking. Requires twitch skills, though.

Thanks! Excited to try again now that I have a plan.

Let us know how it goes!

That was unexpected

I just started a thread for it: Hades 2

I also eventually turned on "God Mode." I got to the point where my entire run was built around "do I want this for the final battle?" when choosing boons etc. But it also just took a lot of grinding things up. I don't know if that helps much, but... dying to the final boss at least a half dozen times before winning probably isn't unusual. Or so I tell myself.

A half dozen? If that's all that's REALLY GOOD. A couple dozen seems to be much more the norm.

I consider the final fight in Hades to basically be Act 5, given that the amount of effort, practice, and learning I required to get past it.

Started my shield run. I am going to try sticking with the same weapon for a bit to see if I can build up some muscle memory with it.

Any recommendation on the items that you can switch out once per zone for defensive builds? Are the ones that grant a boon from a specific God worth it?

The god items are mainly for if you are working to get a specific synergy/boon for a build or story/relationship building/trophy reasons.

As far as general keepsakes, The Evergreen Acorn is the go to damage soaker for boss battles. The distant memory is good with ranged weapons and the collar and tooth are overall endurance boosters. If you can keep enemies in front of you Myrmidon's shackle is solid.

Once I got good at the game I used the plume or the butterfly a lot as they just ramped up in power.

Yes, they are totally worth it. If you are trying to get in with a specific god, you should put that item on for that zone. There's no guarantee, otherwise, that the god shows up on that run. So, if you're going for the Ares / Aphrodite / Demeter thing I suggested up above, I'd start with Ares, then switch to Aphrodite's item for area 2, then Demeter's for area.

Until you can reliably beat Hades without it, I strongly recommend the lucky tooth for area 4. You're going to want that extra life!

Run 30 and

Spoiler:

I reached Hades

for the first time. Got about half the health bar down but I am guessing there is more than one health bar here!

A pretty easy defensive build is Zeus Shield with Zeus Special. Send out the shield and hide behind a pillar or something. So take the signet ring on your first run to get that boon early then switch to defense ike tooths or collars for zone 2 onwards.

52 runs in and the final boss goes down! An excellent game and I will definitely be finishing some more runs to see where all the characters stories go.

Day. Frikkin. One.

Here's my tips:
For mirror of night choose Dark Regeneration rather than Chronic Vitality and choose Darkness for the next room whenever you can to keep health up. Death Defiance and Greater Reflex also for sure. Golden Touch is good for the mid game if you can resist spending too much money and can get to the last stage but are struggling to get through it.
Always pick Hermes or Daedalus Hammer if available, if you get Hermes pick extra dashes first then extra movement speed, even if lower ranked these will help a lot with final boss especially.
And like LastSurprise said, Lucky Tooth for area 4

Thanks! I will play around with those Mirror options for sure.
