It is time...

Yeah I really need to play the first one

You do. It’s extremely good.

If by any chance you remain spoiler free on the first game don’t watch the trailer for Ragnarok yet. It gives away a couple of nice reveals from the first game. Nothing that’ll ruin it but it was special to experience those things as and when the game wanted to reveal them to you.

I like that Kratos is looking a little bit closer to this concept art for the first game in the sequel. I’m sure his look will change throughout the game.

I’m replaying God of War and it’s fascinating to hear stories stories, etc involving Thor. At one point Mimir calls him a ‘fat dobber’ and on another occasion a ‘sweaty baw bag’ both are very Scottish insults.

To be honest, I think he let himself go a bit...

I really like the new look for Thor in Ragnarok. Can’t wait to see scenes with Kratos and Thor facing off with each other and, potentially, witnessing them beating the living crap out of each other. From Thors exploits, detailed in the first game, he seems more than a match for Kratos. Equally I’d love to see a story where Kratos doesn’t end up fighting the Norse pantheon, as we are all expecting.

It gives this a very Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant feel, only without Kratos being as terrible a person as Hogan

I may have to replay God of War to get hype for Ragnarok ... it's been 3 years

I’ve arrived at the point where the first game talks about the god Tyr. Pretty sure I payed little to no attention to it the first time through. Knowing what we do about the sequel I was much more attentive this time around and little details fit surprisingly neatly with what we’ve seen.

Spoiler:

There is a triptych and the last panel shows Tyr in chains. Also, Mimir says Tyr is the only other person, other than him, that the giants gave the gift of giant sight.

nvm

My goodness, I didn't realize this either first time around, the details you gloss over. I'm gonna have to replay this again. That's really interesting.

I choose to believe! (His tweet was in response to a fan rather than in an interview where he’d have to respond with something. To me it feels like a reassurance you’d only make if it was, as far as you knew, true and he’s in a pretty good position to know.)

I don’t think I’d be that upset if it was pushed to 2023. I could do with another six months or more to play the games I would have played if I wasn’t playing Elden Ring.

There seem to be murmurings of a release date approaching with the game being rated and merch going on sale. Recently many podcasters were saying the game being delayed into next year was inevitable but it’s looking like there’s still hope for it coming out this year.

It would be nice. I know stuff happens and they don't want to have crunch time but it would be great to play a new story this year.

I want this game to be good and made under healthy workplace conditions. I would love to play it this year, but not if it will be a buggy mess that will put the teams in crunch from now til November.

Same here. I’m more than happy to wait.

God Of War was one of my favourite PS4 games. Looking forward to hearing that thunk of the Axe returning to my hand which maybe the most satisfying sound effect in all games.

It’s so good

The story really has me in it’s grip. Tyr’s history makes him a very different and really fascinating god of war and I’m excited for/dreading Atreus’s continuing journey. Also… Thor.

I have so many games to play I am perfectly happy to wait especially if it means a good game developed without crunch.

There have been rumors floating about The Last of Us 1 Remake landing this fall. If true, they are probably more comfortable delaying GoW2 to early next year.

I'm always in the "delay it until it's ready" camp anyways.

As beanman101283 just pointed out in the What's Left for 2022 thread, Jason Schreier sources are telling him that GoW Ragnarok is still planned for November.

Apparently they were going to announce the release date for Ragnarok last week but delayed it for an unspecified reason. It’s been speculated that it was because of the Roe v Wade decision. Jason Schreier, gawd bless ‘im, is still insistent it’s coming out in November and, apparently, it’s a massive game.

Im putting the line at March 31, 23. And I’m likely to prefer the over.

Not the announcement, the actual release

Release date confirmed 11th September… no, wait. It’s a US format date 9th November. Someone clearly decided they just needed to get the friggin’ date out there already.

I think it’s a good move. No need for too much fanfare. They can always do a state of play later.

You can watch the trailer without getting spoiled on anything gameplay wise as it's CGI. I'll not be watching the future State of Play breakdown on Ragnarok as the last trailer was plenty. If this lives upto to God Of War 2018 we're in for another magical experience.

I also watched the unboxing of the special editions of the game with Ryan Hurst (who plays Thor), that guy has one of the coolest voices around. The line in the gameplay trailer from last year "you seem like a calm and reasonable person, are you a calm and reasonable person?" chills! Him & Christopher Judge on the same set, god tier!

And now we wait for the delay...

Pretty overpriced bobbles. Though I would like to know exactly how overpriced they are so I can complain about them on here and then order them anyway.

You know... I was hoping they'd take the 11/11/22 spot from Starfield just for the memes

Same. I'm confident enough in what I've seen and heard to know that I'm safe to enter blackout mode.

This confirmation is good motivation to finally replay through the original again on PS5.
